Pondering Witch

witch-cuteHope you all had a great weekend! Mine wasn’t bad.  But I had time to think…

Sometimes I was even sober… (you all will be so disappointed when you meet me in person and find out how little I really drink!)

It started with the movies. The husband and I went to the movies. We saw Obsession, which I really liked. The critics, evidently, didn’t like it so much. One review I read called it,  “A Lifetime Flick.”  And so I have to ponder…if there are several channels devoted to theses kinds of movies, what does that tell you? That people watch them! Holy Witches, people, get down off your snobby broomsticks and ENJOY it. Stop pining for meaning in movies.

Then there is the  premise of the movie–the totally innocent married man is targeted by this totally hot blond. I mean she is AFTER this guy, and he’s such a stellar dude, he resits. (Of course, I suspend disbelief when watching movies, LOL!)  And I have to ponder: How many men in America thinks there’s a chance this will actually happen to him in real life?  Never mind, I read romance novels and 100% believe that the really hot man is falling in love with the plain girl and will be true to her until death and beyond. So I guess I better not ponder how many men think some young blond babe is going to want them and want them bad!

Let’s ponder something else. I went to buy some jeans. And do you know that for over TWO DECADES I have worn the same size? Which is really interesting since I am NOT the same size. Who does the manufacturers think they are fooling?

And another thing I ponder is why it’s okay to torment people like Kirstie Alley over her weight. Yes I know she was the spokesperson for Jenny Craig, but the level of meaness turns my stomach. It just doesn’t seem like the thing to judge people on.

Hmm, now I’m starting to wonder if I’m spelling “pondering” wrong. Maybe it is spelled, “procrastinating?”

Good Monday morning, Jen! I never ponder the meaning in the movies I watch, probably because there ISN’T any meaning in the movies I watch. Who wants to actually THINK when they go to the movies? I prefer fantasy, myself. Family saw Woverine yesterday as a post-First Communion celebration for daughter. Yeah, she’s only 8 but she seemed to like it. I know I liked the part where Hugh was neeked and running like a gazelle. :-) *Add devil horns to smiley*

Good Morning! I also went to the movies yesterday and like Margaret I saw Wolverine. LOVED IT! If I thought about it and tried to put logic into that movie I would have never gone to see it. Who does that? SERIOUSLY? Oh and the running neked through the forest and jumping into that waterfall, yeah, that was one of my favorite parts. I also loved the old couple. “Honey, I think there’s a naked man in the barn.”

BTW – I don’t drink that much in real life either, I won’t tell if you don’t. ;)

I watch movies so I don’t HAVE to ponder. It’s called ENTERTAINMENT! It’s the same reason I read romance. I want a happy ending. I want Jane to get Romeo. I want an appletini! (Still haven’t actually tried one RL. Maybe I’ll just wait until RWA and pop my cherry on all sorts of things!) *gigglesnort*

As for Kirstie Alley, I hope she puts a hex on all of them! Dude, losing weight and keeping it off is HARD! I was glad to hear that Valerie Bertinelli is defending her.

Happy Monday, witches! I’m psyched. I’ve just submitted another MS to a different line of my publisher, I’m 1/4 of the way through the revision/upgrade of SHADOW DANCE so it will be ready to be pitched, and I’m hoping I’ll remain psyched enough to finish WALTZING MATILDA and get a first edit/rewrite done and/or the major revision on SEASON OF THE WITCH.

I’m off to run errands and then back to work! I’ll be back for a witches’ lunch out, with appeltinis!

Margaret, congrats on your daughter’s communion! And I’m jealous that you saw Wolverine! Doesn’t interest my husband, and I haven’t pushed to see it. Neked? I want me some nekked running!

Erika, welcome back! How was the trip? And dang it, I’m missing out! I didn’t see naked Hugh!

No telling here! I drink all the time :-)

Silver, sheesh, woman, just reading your comment wore me out! Did you work all weekend? Naturally SEASON OF THE WITCH caught my attention!

I saw the interview where Valerie defending Kirstie and thought she was came across as genuine.

I swear we’re gonna have to witchnap you and introduce you to appletinis! It’s just not right that you haven’t had one!

What’s on the menu for the witches’ lunch out?

LOL! Okay. I’ve erased what I first wrote for the menu. PG. Must remain PG. Let’s just say that Hugh came to mind? And I worked yesterday. I took Friday and Saturday to play with Brenda’s auction and such, read, and tried to prioritize my projects. I’ve got my game plan now and I’m executing it.

SEASON OF THE WITCH is my semi-urban paranormal. The Witch is evil. VERY evil. My MC is a kick-ass FBI agent without a touch of magic but because she was marked by vampires and fae in a little power struggle they had over her as a toddler, she can see behind the Veil. Her RML is a former Knight Templar, now a professor of Ancient History (and a vampire) accused of murdering a senator’s aide. It’s an awesome story (even if I say so myself, lol!) but the structure needs MASSIVE work. Sade (my MC) has been hanging around gritching at me to get back to work on WITCH. I’m going to make an attempt to get MATILDA finished quickly and then move on to WITCH. Since MATILDA is the follow-on to SHADOW DANCE, it’s not quite so imperative I have it ready to pitch.

So…uhm…yeah. Errands. I was headed out for errands. Going now. Really. (And ya’ll tell me to shut up once in awhile, ‘kay?)

Silver, LOLOL! Hugh…yes we should invite him to the lunch. That’s what you meant of course :-)

SOTW sounds super cool! I like it! Hurry up!

I did errands, I did plotting, and mostly what I really need are appletinis to get this next scene going. GRRR!!!

*shakes and pours* Have another round, witches. I sent Hugh’s invite. I hope Erika’s flying monkey got it to him!

Silver, YAY! Can’t wait for Hugh to arrive!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the monkeys don’t get sidetracked.

Uh, don’t y’all eat dinner?? I’m always late to the party! Don’t tell me Hugh arrived and I MISSED HIM!?! I need to see his nekkid hinny again!
It sucks that I only wrote 100 words today–someone kick me in the ass! I know my kid was sick, but come on! I’ll never finish that silly middle grade novel if I can’t write faster!

I never ponder as to what any one else is doing because I am lucky to keep up with what I am doing.

Margaret, we eat dinner that I cook every night :-) But we’re all in different time zones. Plus tonight was an easy dinner.

I read your blog, your poor daughter! She’s really sick. And a sick kid trumps writing. Getting even a 100 words is rather amazing actually.

I’m sending super enhanced witch vibes your way that your daughter recovers lightning quick, and that you can’t type fast enough to keep up with your muse!

Quilt Lady, that means you have a life! Excellent! I’m thinking about getting a life, LOL. Lately, I’m just struggling to breathe life into the book.
