Weekend Roundup

Two weeks until SOUL MAGIC is out! Heck I might even do some promoting on the blog…it could happen!

My weekend was okay.  Saturday was a sad time for a friend so lets just skip that.   Although the wizard and I went to dinner so the day ended nice.

Sunday, I wrote, working both on my current chapter and some blogs I needed to get done.

For half the week, I wasn’t reading at all. Finally I picked up a book by a NYT bestseller than my sister gave me.  It started out with a sex scene in which the author kept stopping the action to lecture on BSMD.

I. Am. Not. Kidding.

I wanted to laugh because it was really bondage-light to begin with.  I read the whole book. I don’t know why. It never got better. Yet people love this author, so it’s just a matter of taste.

That was pretty much my weekend! How was yours?

Yea!!! Only two weeks til SOUL MAGIC! I can’t wait :)

My weekend was nice and long. I took Thursday and Friday off, so I had a five day weekend. Thursday, I went with my best friend, her daughter and nephew to see the Red Wings home opener. They beat the Blackhawks 3-2 :D Friday, my other best friend, her mom and I went to see Jeff Dunham at the new Lucas County Arena (that’s in Toledo, BTW.) We all laughed til we cried. If you’ve never seen Dunham, I highly recommend checking him out. You can see some of his routines on YouTube and he has 3 DVD’s. Saturday, I got to see both of my teams win. Ohio State kicked Wisconsin’s a$$, 31-13. Then, the Wings beat Washington 3-2. To top off my enjoyment of Saturday night, Michigan lost to Iowa. Hehehe, I really hate Michigan and will cheer for any other team against them :D

    My weekend was good.

The first day of my indoor power walking class was on Sunday and I survived. It’s combined with warm-ups, stretches, aerobices, power walking, cool downs and stretches. A good 90 minutes to increase the heart rate.

I’m still working on my quilt project. It’s the largest quilt that I’m making now. The latest picture is on my blog and facebook. The hardest part is coming up with a name to put on the label which I stitch before doing the machine quilting part. Of course after I name it and stitch it, I come up with a better name. Oh well, I like it anyway.

Other than that, I have to go to work today.

    Have a good Monday.

Oooo, I can’t wait for Soul Magic!

Not much happened here this weekend. The BoSox got swept by the Angels, which works for me. The Yankees swept the Twins, which works even better. If I can have Yankees vs Dodgers for the World Series, life will be good. Other than that, I got some good words on paper and took Daughter out for more driving lessons.

Oh, and it snowed here. Yuck.

Soul Magic is on my to buy list. Can’t wait to read it. I am sure it will be just as awesome as Blood Magic.

Since we will be moving in a couple weeks my weekend was spent packing. The kids had all their friends over trying to get as much time with them as possible so it was a full noisy house. It was nice but man can those teenagers eat! Mother Hubbards Cubbards are beyond bare. Need to hit the grocery store on the way home today.

The good news is, when we move, we will only be about 30 minutes away so they will still be able to see their friends just not as often.

I did find the time to finish Sherrilyn Kennyon’s, Bad Moon Rising. A lot of the events in this story had happened in some of her other books, but they were told from a different perspective so it wasn’t repetitive but I did get impatient at times to learn the stuff I didn’t know. However, there was a surprise at the end that brought tears to my eyes. I always love her books no matter what, she is the best.

Glad you had a good weekend. Except for the crappy book. I don’t have enough time anymore to read a book I can’t enjoy.

And looking forward to your book coming out. :D

    I had a great weekend!

Dawn, a five day weekend is the best! My husband is enjoying a three day weekend. Glad your teams won :-)

I’m going to check out Jeff Dunham on YouTube. I’m pretty sure I know who that is–I’ll know for sure when I see him.

Dru,I went to look at your quilt, it’s really pretty! I have no talent in that area so I’m very impressed with people who do.

I feel for you on the name–I’m sure it’s the similar to trying to come up with a title for a book.

Hope your sore knee survived power-walking.

B.E., was it snowing when you took your daughter out driving? I don’t live in snow so that makes me shudder!

Great that you got some writing done!

Val, that is great news that you’ll still be close enough to see friends once you move. And boy, I know what you mean about teenagers and food! The noise level is usually pretty intense too.

A weekend spent packing isn’t my idea of fun :-( I hope the move goes smoothly.

Kennyon is really talented! I haven’t read that book yet, but I do understand your frustration. But it sounds like there was a payoff which makes it worth it. The book I read–I kept thinking there would be a payoff, but it never happened.

Kira, I normally will stop reading. I can’t pinpoint why I kept going. It was expecting something to happen I guess. But as I said, tons of people love this author. It’s just me :-)

Glad you had a great weekend!

Thanks to ALL of you on the support for SOUL MAGIC!

I had a great weekend. Two of my boys tested for higher ranking belts in tae kwon do on Saturday. Sunday a friend and I attended Buns & Roses literacy tea here in the DFW area, it was so much fun. We met so many authors and it was just a great time. Of course now I have many more books to read and many more that I want to read. Just meeting some of the authors made me want to get their books even if they didn’t seem to appeal to me before. Is that odd? My list of “to read” just keeps growing and growing but I need more time to read them.

Amanda, you had a busy weekend! One of my sons was in Tae Kwon Do and went to red-black belt. Congrats to your two sons!

I’ve heard great things about Buns and Roses! And I don’t think it’s odd that you want to buy the books of authors you meet. It happens to me all the time. It’s a great way to expand our reading :-)

Is there ever enough time (or money) to read all the books we want to?

No there is never enough time at all to read. I have probably two overflowing bookshelves that are to be read and I just keep adding to them. I keep saying no more buying books until I finish some but that never happens. I guess there are worse things that I could be spending money on.

Amanda, how are we supposed to resist books? It can’t be done!

No it is not possible. Of course in two weeks I see I have another book I’ll be buying. I guess it just never ends.

Wait? What’s this about a book coming out? SOUL MAGIC? What? Huh? I’ve never heard of it!!

    *ducks and runs* *bwahaha*

    I have my copy preordered.

Weekend? I muttered a lot about RL interferring with my reading. Karin Tabke’s MASTER OF SURRENDER was so good I didn’t want to put it down. Oh…and I looked for a new gas range. I love the one I have but it is so old I figure it may asphyxiate us one of these days.

Please tell me it’s appletini time? This has been Monday. ALL Freakin’ DAY!

    Amanda, LOL! Sorry about that!

I have a bunch of books I want to order. Trying. To. Resist…

Silver, maybe you’ve heard too much about it and are in denial :-)

    Thanks for preordering!

I want that book! They haven’t had it in my B&N (probably soldout) when I’ve looked. I’m going to order it!

Appletinis–a brilliant idea! Let’s do it!

I immediately picked up Karin’s second one. I was 60 pages into it before I looked up, realized the time and went “Oh horse pucky!” And I don’t read historicals. But these?!? Yeah. Order it! Or I’ll send you my copy, just so long as you send it back!

*mixes and pours* Appletinis all around!

Silver, I’ll order it, I want her to have the sale. I should have done it when the books came out!

    Appletinis, yay!

I love Karin Tabke! Margaret Golla turned me on to her. I need to look. I can’t remember which books I have. Did one come out and I miss it?

ACK! Must check that. I lose track sometimes of all the books and series I read.

No snow driving yet, Jen. The snow had stopped and was already mostly gone by the time we went driving. She’ll get some good snowy drive time once she gets more experience, though.
