Monday Chit Chat

Saturday I hung out with other writer friends. It was so good to get away from the computer!  Of course we talked books and writing–I’ve yet to meet a writer who can avoid the subjects for long!  Saturday night, the Wizard and I went to dinner, came home and hung out in the jacuzzi. Wizard knows how to make an excellent vodka tonics too.   A perfect day to clean my head!

Next month I’ll be giving a talk on world-building at my local RWA meeting.  That’s going to be challenging!  I’m a lot more nervous about it than I thought. Trying to break down how I do it is pretty overwhelming.  These things start out as one idea that grows and changes as the idea matures and develops. I’ll have to really work on how to illustrate that in a talk. And how important it is to reveal the world through the eyes of characters.

I’m finishing BLAZE OF MEMORY and I have to say there was a point where I doubted this book, but now I’m happy I read it.

So how was your weekend?

You’ll do great at your talk.

My weekend was nice. I went to see the musical “Bye, Bye Birdie” and enjoyed it. John Stamos and Bill Irwin were in the cast which made it even more enjoyable. I went to a new-to-me restaurant and the food was good but the service was lousy.

The weather here was in the low 60s and it’s November.

    Have a good Monday.

Hanging out with writer friends sounds awesome. =o) And I’m with Dru – you’ll do great at your talk.

Here? It snowed. We didn’t get the 3-6 inches they were predicting, though, and none of it stuck to the roads – so it’s all good.

After a disappointing week writing, I managed to get close to 2800 words out yesterday. If I can keep that up, I might just finish this story by the end of the month. Yay.

I love RWA weekends. Mine is next Saturday. I spent this weekend in Florida doing “command” visits. You know the ones–those people you have to visit whether you want to or not? Yeah. But I’ve had awesome steak. And wallpapered a bathroom.

Tomorrow, I head back home to revisions and such like. (Plus cleaning house and laundry.) Anybody got a spell for either?

    Right now, I want coffee!

Saturday was shopping day as well as putting the finishing touches on getting our new house together. I also took my 16 year old son job hunting.

Sunday my 12 year old chef to be, started going through all these dessert recipes I have cut out over the years and never actually tried. Of course then the older two wanted to make something too, so they had a dessert bake off. I feel the extra pounds pileing up now. :)
It was messy but fun, and everything came out great.

I am sure your presentation will be awesome.

Silver… the spell use to be “children who were young enough to know that money was great and that it was a treat to get it, lol.” Unfortunately, they have grown… and learned what “house work means…” so they run now! Or “I have homework Mom and you always said that came first.”

Jen… sounds like you had an all around great weekend!! Especially with the Wizard!! *Evil wink*
You will do just fine with your talk next month! I have faith in you! If anyone can do it… it is you!

My weekend was spent taking care of myself. I had a tummy ache all week long and did not feel good. Only to discover mother nature was knocking early to come for a visit. If there was a spell to pass this to men… I so need this spell!!! Evil! Pure Evil I tell you! But I did get to finish a great book, played Texas Hold’em with friends and won, and just lounged around the house! Have to say overall… it was a nice weekend!

Dru, you always do something fun on your weekend!

You know, the older I get the more lousy service annoys me. I know how hard it is to be a waiter or waitress but I still get annoyed.

Thanks on my talk, we’ll see.

Jen, sounds like you had some relaxation time this weekend and that you needed it.
Our weekend was good, we camped out with my oldest son’s Cub Scout den. The weather cooperated and it was nice, just a bit chilly at night but they had a blast. Saturday it was actually a bit warm and got into the 80s. I tried to read as much as possible when we had down time and at night but it was nice just being outside. I enjoyed not seeing the boys on a computer, DS or watching TV all weekend and I never heard the words “I’m bored” come out of any of their mouths all weekend long. I’m sure they will be wanting to do that again.

B.E. I HATE those disappointing weeks of writing. But I’m glad you had a productive weekend writing! Did the snow help?

Silver, “command visit” Love it! Sorry you had to do it, though. I must teach you how to use the excuse, “I’m sorry, but I’m on deadline. I was forced to bring my computer and work through this trip. Maybe next time.”

I have not figured out that housework spell and every time I do a revision spell, it backfires and glues my butt to the chair in front of the computer. Then *I* end up doing all the work.

Right there with you on the coffee! Is it wrong to skip the cup and just drink from the coffee pot?

Val, I want to go to the bake off at your house! I love baking and I love eating desserts!

Wait…I hear my jeans muttering and complaining about a big fat a** Sigh. Guess I can’t go to your house. But it sounds like it was fun! My boys loved to bake with me.

Hope you’re feeling settled in and relaxed now in your new home!

Cecile I hope you’re feeling better! I don’t know why haven’t gotten a restraining order against that particular form of Nature.

I used to use that spell on my kids too. They did a lot of housework, but that came to a screeching halt with then got jobs around 16. Then they were way too busy.

Hope it’s a better week for you!

Amanda, that sounds relaxing if the boys were entertaining themselves! And it’s priceless when they don’t whine about being board!

After Friday the 13th, which was everything it lives up to be (:P ), my weekened ended up fair decent.

Sat was our monthly chapter meeting and of course it was a blast! I always participate in critiques and this time they said so many good things about my pages it made me blush. Oh how I remember a time when my pages were filled with nothing but red ink. It felt good and only enforces my will to keep plugging away!! Our speaker Sat was a fellow member and she taught us a bit about belly dancing. That was FUN!

Sunday was chore day, but that’s okay. But somehow the dreaded Monday’s always roll around.

Jen, you will do great at your talk! Don’t you worry a bit! So glad you got some much needed down time. You deserve it for working so hard.

Glad everyone had a good weekend.

I finished Shannon K Butcher’s FINDING THE LOST on Friday and started Sherrilyn Kenyon’s BORN OF FIRE. Saturday, I watched Ohio State beat Iowa, which means they go to the Rose Bowl. Now they just need to beat Michigan next Saturday to have a successful season :)

Sunday, I went shopping with my mom. We had lunch first. Then we had to stop at the book store. I got the newest Steven King for my dad and three others for me. Mom bought more stuff for herself than she did for Christmas presents. All told, it was a pretty good day.

    Happy Monday, witches.
