Weekend Warrior!

I went all over the place this weekend! First I went to my local RWA meeting.  Avon editorial assistant Esi Sogah was there, and she was lovely! Funny, smart, forward thinking and honest. How could I not love her? Plus I hung out with my friends!

But I got home early.

For months now, Wizard has been grumbling about a new bed. Now I’ve been grumbling for longer, but I didn’t want to do the actually shopping. And buying. And delivery. And …you know…work involved.

Wizard left some ads out on the table, and then suggested we go shopping. Over and over.

Well Saturday I got home early from my meeting and said, “Okay, fine, I’ll go shopping.

TWO DAYS! TWO FREAKING DAYS OF SHOPPING! Okay, it wasn’t that bad. We really only went to a few places, then Sunday afternoon we made a decision and bought the bed.

It’s coming today and if all goes well, it will be DONE. Yay! Except…

Okay I warned Wizard this was a Slippery Slope. Because if I get anew bed…I need a new sheets, pillows and a comforter. And if I do that, then the bathroom rugs and towels won’t match. And valances…

Do you see where I’m going? I already bought the sheets pillows and comforter and made Wizard come with me!

When we got home, Wizard made haste to his laboratory (some call it a garage) and I haven’t seen him since.

He’s the one that nagged me to go shopping, that’s all I’m saying.

In other news, I had a hot streak of reading, then this last week, I’ve been working long hours and not reading as much. I’m about half way through Shayla Blacks POSSESS ME AT MIDNIGHT. It’s pretty good, although I should have started at the beginning of the series. A LOT of characters, and a lot of worldbuilding already in progress.

So how was your weekend? What are you guys reading?

Men have to understand if they want us to buy new furniture, then we must have new accessories to go with the new furniture that they wanted us to buy.

My weekend was quiet. I had a touch of a 24-hour bug but that was okay since it was too cold to be outdoors, so instead I hibernated and did a lot of reading. I’m also thinking of my next quilting project.

Right now I’m reading “Heart of Ice” by Gregg Olsen. I just finished “High Anxiety” by Charlotte Hughes, “Eggsecutive Orders” by Julie Hyzy and “Timeless” by Sarita Leone.

    Have a good Monday.

Went to daughters basketball game Friday, she cheerleads for the varsity boys team. Great game against school rivals that went into overtime.

Saturday daughter and yongest son got haircuts, and then later two oldest went roller skating with friends, giving hubby and I a quite house with only one kid. What a blissful couple of hours.

On Sunday my washer decided to quite on me so I spent the day at the laundrymat. Yuck, hate the laundrymat, seems like every time I go there the change machine is broke, leaving me scrambling for quarters. After went grocery shopping.

I just finished Nora Roberts, Black Hills, and am now working on Jacquelyn Frank’s Hunting Julian. Still not having time to read at my usual volume, but hoping things slow down soon.

GO CARDINALS, GO CARDINALS! I watched the game on Sunday, we had friends and family over to cheer on our team. GO CARDINALS! Because of previous family and friends I spent Saturday cleaning and grocery shopping. Ugh.

I completely understand the whole new sheets, new towels, new rugs thing. You did warn him of the can of worms shopping would open. That’s all you can do. :)

I’m reading The Scarpetta Factor by Patricia Cornwell and listening to The Witness by Sandra Brown. Did anyone else join the 100+ books in 2010 challenge?

Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Me? I was a slug. I sat around watching football and crocheting. I’m about a quarter done with a baby blanket for my future niece/nephew.

Ugh, I’m not reading anything. For some reason, this WIP doesn’t want me to read while it’s being edited. :grumble: petulent bitch… What? Oh, I meant ‘yes ma’am, thank you ma’am, I’ll be right there ma’am’.

    ;o)

Dru, I hope you’re feeling better! And once again, I feel guilty as it’s 80 degrees here. It’s so weird how the rest of the country is suffering with brutal cold and we’re so warm.

I’ve heard good things about Greg Olsen but can’t remember if I’ve read him, I’ll have to look at Amazon to see if I recognize any books.

Val, your life sounds so familiar! Just like when all my kids were home.

Ugh on the Laundromat! Hope you get your washer fixed soon.

b.E., crocheting a baby blanket is doing something! How exciting to have a new niece or nephew on the way!

There are many times when my current WIP gets in the way of my pleasure reading. It’s very annoying. But don’t tick off the book, LOL!

I’d also be interesting in signing up for the challenge. I know I’ll do that easily.

Sounds like a busy weekend for you. I’d do the same thing as you though and have to buy all new things, you can’t have old sheets and comforters on a new bed. :) This weekend was an exciting one for me. Michele Bardsley had a book signing for her latest release and Dakota Cassidy was there to show support. I love them both. We talked Dakota into coming to our next book club meeting because it is the same day her next book comes out. SO excited about that.

I finished reading Molly Harper’s newest Nice Girls Don’t Live Forever and I am sad that it is possibly the end of the series. I just get attached to people in the books too much. I also read Undead and Unappreciated by Mary Janice Davidson and started Undead and Unreturnable.

I did watch some football too with the hubby and had to be the mean mommy and make the kiddos clean up their rooms, they had toys all over the house. Christmas toys, my middle one’s birthday toys, craziness!!

Shopping? Isn’t there a spell for that? Or the internet? Wizard deserves what he gets. I hope the new mattress is extra-special comfy! You deserve it after all that hard shopping! Just sayin’!

I have to face the shopping monster this next two weeks. Clothes. For the cruise. *sigh* I don’t think there are enough appletinis in the world to gird my loins for three-way mirrors and florescent lights in the dressing rooms. Too bad there’s not a spell for that, too!

Okay, this witch has to get back to work. :(

I got our sleep number bed after I had my 7 yr old. I will NEVER buy another bed – well, in 15 yrs, when this one goes I will but it will be another sleep number bed !!! I LOVE it !!!
Haven’t gotten much reading done myself lately but I’m slowly getting back into my old routine.

Amanda, that is exciting that you got to go to Michele Bardsley’s signing and see Dakota Cassidy too! It’s alike a two for one deal :-)

Does Molly Harper mean to end the series or is this a publisher decision? So many readers are frustrated by publisher decisions. The publishers aren’t doing it out of meanness, the bottom line is just getting tighter and tighter leaving them little choice. So frustrating for everyone!

Mean Mommy tends to come out after the holidays!

The house is overdo for some attention, and Wizard (for all my teasing) is great about this stuff. I’m just so happy to have the bed shopping done, and now it’s here and all set up.

Silver, I wish there was a spell for shopping! I’ll work on a spell to make your cruise-clothes shopping as painless and productive as possible. You’ll look fantastic once you get it done!

Just thinking about those dressing room mirrors and lighting is reason for us to brew up some appletinis!

Hope you’re getting a lot of work done.

We hung out with family this weekend. My family on Saturday and then the husband’s family on Sunday. It was nice spending time with my sisters and my very cute little nephew who has discovered clapping.

I am currently reading two books. Kresley Cole No Rest for the Wicked, one of her Immortals After Dark books and also I have started Atlantis Awakening by Alyssa Day. This is book two of her Warriors of Poseidon series. They are both GREAT!

I agree that when I read Posses me at Midnight I should have read the first two first….I was very confused….going to have to re-read it when I get the first one in her series. Great book though!

    Happy Monday!

Jen, I’m not sure if the Molly Harper is the end or not. The way the book ended it could or could not be. She tweeted that there might possibly be more but she has a contemporary coming out and is starting a werewolf series. Her writing is funny so I’m sure I will pick those up too.
