What do you think?

So I heard this news yesterday from this link

SAN FRANCISCO – Danielle Steel‘s former assistant has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for embezzling more than $760,000 from the romance novelist.

Kristy Watts worked for 15 years and earned an annual salary of $200,000 for part-time work that included handling Steel’s payroll and accounting.

The 48-year-old pleaded guilty last year to depositing numerous checks made out to “cash” in her own bank account, using the author’s credit card rewards points and paying herself more than her salary.

U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker on Tuesday sentenced Watts to two years and nine months in prison.

She has paid the author $969,752 to settle a lawsuit by selling her house and furnishings. Watts is married to a San Francisco Police Department officer and has a 6-year-old daughter.

I was floored.  The woman worked PART TIME and made $200,000 a year and still stole from her employer? Pathetic.

What do you think?

$200,000 to work PART-TIME? Are you kidding me? Hell, I’d be happy to make a fourth of that. For full-time. Some people are just waaaayyy too greedy.

She had it good and blew it for what??? Greed will get you all the time. I can’t believe it, part-time; I work full time and don’t even make half, heck, I make a little over a quarter what she made.

:jaw drop: I don’t know what I’m more flabbergasted over – that woman’s stupidity, the woman’s salary, or the fact that her husband is a policeman. The whole thing has me just… speechless.

Just wow, I wish I made that kind of money. If I did I sure wouldn’t be looking for more, we get buy on much less than that so most of that salary would be gravy. Just don’t understand how some people go through so much money but then I am a simple witch, don’t need big flashy things to make me happy.

Dawn, me too! Greedy and stupid. Catching embezzling isn’t that hard once you start looking for it.

B.E., when I saw her husband was a cop, I couldn’t believe it. Not just that he’s in law enforcement, but he SEES how this stuff destroys lives.

Val, I hear you on that! We live simple too. So many people would have appreciated a job that let them pay their bills and live without the “not enough money” stress.

Silver, so true! It blew my mind when I saw it. I kept thinking this would be so easy to catch.

I feel sorry for the author too–talk about being betrayed. You pay someone very well for the job and they do this?
