Let’s Catch up!

I’m back!

I finished writing/editing Key’s book and sent it in on Sunday.  I worked long hours this last month to get this book done and in.

And my reward?

Monday!  The three boys, Wizard and I were out at the pool with Bailey.  SO MUCH FUN!

Here’s Bailey when we coxed him on a raft:

Then Bailey swimming to the steps:

I also got awesome pictures of my sons jumping super high…but I can’t post those, darn it.

Do you ever have just one of those perfect family days? We BBQed hamburgers for lunch, swam all afternoon (there may have been some gin and tonics going around) and then had sirloin tip and chicken for dinner.  Oh and chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies!

How was your weekend? Did you guys get Monday off? Let’s all catch up!

    Hey Jen,

Glad you’re manuscript is done and hopefully you can relax and enjoy the summer for a little while.

I had a low-key 3-day holiday weekend which was good for me. With the humidity and heat, who wants to be outdoors.

    Have a good Tuesday.

Welcome back. =o) Yay for getting the book done! Your yesterday sounds perfect and well-deserved. Bailey is such a boo.

Husband had yesterday off, so we had the three day weekend thing going on. Saturday we watched a little of the local fireworks from the back bedroom and then Sunday I watched parts of the fireworks in DC, NYC and Boston. (What can I say, I’m a big fan of Sousa.) I got some good editing done, and this rewrite is shaping up nicely. Otherwise it was just a nice relaxing weekend. =o)

We had a great weekend. We went to a friend’s house for a pool party on Sunday and I received news that another friend was in labor. She had her baby later that night, what a fun day for a birthday! Lucky boy! I haven’t gotten to visit yet but I am hoping to soon.

It was my daughter’s birthday this weekend. 15. Ugh! Friday night we all went out to dinner at P.F. Chang’s with my Mom to celebrate. Saturday was her party with her friends. Sunday we relaxed and that night went to see fireworks then went to the movies and saw Toy Story 3. If you haven’t seen it it’s awesome. Made me cry. *sniff* We had Monday off so we just hung around the house. It was great.

Glad to hear that Key’s book is done. Congrats. Sounds like you and yours had a great weekend too.

YAYAY! I knew you’d finish the book! And Bailey is so precious. Since we have Cooper now and he’s such a water puppy, I miss having a pool (though not enough to build one!)

We had rain all weekend so mostly stayed in and worked on revisions and did stuff around the house. On the 4th, I BBQ’d a brisket, made baked beans and deviled eggs and we watched baseball.

This week is busy with RWA Nationals/NRCA prep and finalization and more revisions, plus eye appointments for The Only. I hope you are taking some time to relax before those revisions come back!

Dru, I heard about the heat there!!! You’re wise to just take it easy!

Relax? Hehe, I wish. I am taking a little time, but I have projects backed up that I need to take care of. But just being done with the book (until revisions) is a good feeling.

B.E., thanks! I was laughing yesterday at how little Bailey managed to be the center of everything yesterday. I love it when a dog trains his people so well.

Your weekend sounds relaxing and productive! You seem to have a good balance between working and taking some down time on the weekends. I could learn from you! I happy to hear the rewrite is shaping up nicely.

Amanda, congrats to your friend on her new baby boy! What a way to celebrate :-) Seriously, it doesn’t get much better than a new baby!

Erika, happy birthday to your daughter! 15! What an interesting age :-) You’ll survive it, LOL! I had a lot of fun with my kids at the age (when I didn’t want to kill them).

I kind of do want to see Toy Story 3. For years I swore of kids movies, but I think I’m over it now!

Silver, it’s funny that I was thinking of Cooper yesterday. No idea why he popped into my head. He must be humongous now! I bet he could have out-splashed my sons!

I don’t blame you for not wanting to build another pool. I think once is enough, LOL! I love the pool, but Wizard takes care of it mostly.

I bet your busy getting ready for the NRCA stuff! I’m so looking forward to it.

Hope your revisions are going well, and the eye appts are all good for The Only. Her surgery went well, right?

How many revisions does it take when writing a book? I am definatly a reader but with my spelling that confounds spell check I am not a writer. I am sort of an oral story teller around the campfire with my girl scouts and boy scouts they seem to enjoy the stuff I come up with. So Pheniox and Key have their stories. How about Ram? Military, low key and a Thunder Bird Tatoo. I wouldn’t mind the idea of him getting caught in my dream catcher. Any witch worth her salt would reincarnate though many cultures to understand the power of all women. Witch, shaman, preist, healer. We are all one. So it would make sense to me that he would meet one with a native american back ground. I have a long drive to and from work each day so I have a good deal of time to day dream. It keeps me from suffering from road rage.

Kat, Ram is the next book I want to write! It all depends if the publisher wants it :-)

I write three drafts: A fairly complete first draft that takes me the longest, then I like a month to six weeks to revise it, and then my last pass is a straight edit.

Then my editor reads it and I do revisions.
After that, it’s line edits, copy edits and finally galleys–that’s where the book is type set and ready for publication and we’re just looking for last minute typos, missing words or inconsistencies like wrong eye or hair color.

Well don’t let Linc talk you out of having Ram’s story next. If I find a military man with a thunder bird tattoo anywhere I will send him to you to help with the inspiration. Until you get the story written I will just have to be content with my day dreams. April 2011 I will be hoping that the Easter Bunny brings me a new book. Bailey is not an Easter Beagle is he?

Kat, LOL! Linc would totally do that, but he’s just going to have to wait! Ram is next.

Bailey as an Easter Beagle cracks me up. With those ears…he might be able to pull it off :-)
