I’m tired, I haven’t been sleeping and can rattle off a whole list of complaints.

But I won’t! And you’re very welcome for that, LOL! I’m nearing the end of my revision on SINFUL MAGIC (Key’s book), which is great news.  It’s shouldn’t have taken so long and I’m not sure why it did. This book has just been different. Plus once I do finish this part of it–I have to go through for a clean and polish. But still–the end is in sight! I love Key so much, I want this book to be really good, but I just can’t tell at this moment.

I’ll have a better feel for it once I read through it.

But back to my whining…so I’m tired.  And what makes me feel better?

Any guesses?

Okay here’s a hint…

It’s Bailey Dog! This is a picture of Bailey sitting outside his house waiting for me to get there and play with him! (Okay I’m making that up–it’s just a random picture my son sent me–but I’m sure that’s what he looks like when he knows I’m coming over!) Bailey always makes me feel better!

What about you guys? What makes you feel better when you’re tired?

:hugs: I hate that dragged out, tired as tarnation feeling. Bailey’s awesome. His ears kill me every time. He would definitely make me feel better.

When I’m feeling that way, food goes a long way. Mom’s meatloaf, a big pot of homemade soup, brownies. Other than food, snuggling with Kira (the indoor cat) or brushing Max (the outdoor cat) until his chest starts to rumble and he head butts me. I’d recommend a long drive in the country – just chilling out and absorbing the quiet – but if you’re sleepy-tired instead of just soul-tired, it’s probably not safe.

I hope you get some rest soon. Once Key’s book is done, I bet you’ll sleep like a baby.

B.E., LOL on Bailey’s ears! He really does like like a Bat Dog. And when he wants you to feel sorry for him, he puts his ears down and does the sad puppy look. Every effective.

Food and comfort–I’m so there :-)

Max the head butting cat makes me laugh! If his chest is rumbling, I’m assuming he’s purring?

Yeah, that’s his purr. You can’t hear it, but touch his ribs and he feels like a little earthquake inside. =o)

Awwww. Is a Bailey Dog! Sooo cute! I’m cracking my whip! (And conjuring up a Finish the Book Spell, complete with brownies!) You are almost there, Jen, and like B.E., I bet you sleep good once the polishing is done.

I hear you, though. Iffy and the characters of SOTW are yammering at me constantly these days. The good news (and the reason I’m late checking in) is that I think I found the handle I was looking for at the beginning. We’ll see, but I ripped out close to a 1000 words. Now I have to go back and rip them up, but that’s okay. I think I’m on track. :D

Get some rest when you can!

Okay. I totally meant to put in a paragraph break after “cute!” and cracking of whips. *headdesk* I’m going back to my WIP now. Thank you. *gigglesnort*

When you get your dog it will sleep right next to your computer while you work late and kick its feet while it has puppy dreams and make you feel better.

I have a question about publishing? I recently attended a talk by a local author who writes civil war fiction. (I live in an area of the country where you can’t turn around with out running into a battle field) I really like the history and beauty of it all. But what struck me about his stories was the size of his books. The were larger than the normal paperback but not a whole page and they were soft cover. He explained that the books themselves sell for a little more because of the size, but he explained that millions of trees were being saved because of the half sheet of paper size the books were printed in. I am pretty into our environment so I wanted to ask some other authors if there was a trend to this book size and if there was really some impact that can be made by the change. I personally am not ready for a Kindle or other e-book format as I really like the physical page turning experience, but I am willing to do a bit more and by a bigger book if it does help out in the long run. So what can you, Silver and the other authors tell me about this trend?

Silver, LOLOL! I knew you weren’t cracking the whip at Bailey Dog.

Now the good part YAY that you have an idea for your opening scenes!

One day I’ll tell you how much I cut from my books. It’s pretty horrendous–I’m not an efficient writer.

Kat, I can picture my little puppy now :-)

On the books: I’m not sure if he is talking about trade paper backs or a sized that I believe are called Upperbacks. Trade sized has been around for a longtime now, and are about 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches in size. They usually run about 12 to 15 dollars in price (it varies). There is more markup on those and publishers see more profit. They are also used by smaller publishers and print on demand because they can print fewer copies at a time.

The upperback version is something that’s only been around a few years, and they haven’t done well. The are just a little bit taller than regular mass market paperbacks, and only a dollar or so higher in price. For the life of me I can remember the reasoning behind those. Many big named authors were printed in that size though.

I’m almost positive he’s talking about trade size. And I have to tell you that the reasoning for trade is usually more financial than environment.

    Does that help?
