I’m Not Obsessed…Much

I’ve started my last round of revisions on SINFUL MAGIC. For some reason, I was dreading this. I mean really dreading it.  And yet once I stopped procrastinating yesterday and went through all my editor’s notes, I began to realize it’s not as much as I thought.

Then I dove in and got through about 115 pages pretty quickly.  I’m so relieved. I know what it is–I love this book so much, I love Key,  Roxy and the dragon (I LOVE THE DRAGON!) and want to tell their story to the best of my ability.  I was so involved in the first round of revisions, it was a little intense around here.  I was…

Well Wizard has a word for it OBSESSED.  Helpful, isn’t he?

The point is, I was worried–what if I went through all that, and still hadn’t nailed the story? But my editor seems to think I did, and now it just needs a little smoothing. I suppose I won’t really know if I succeeded or failed until the book is out (May 24th, 2011).  But for now, it looks like this round of revisions will be a lot less obsessive intense than the first round!

Isn’t it a nice surprise when something we were agonizing about, turns out to be pretty better than we thought?

Monday Roundup

I got a peek at the cover for SINFUL MAGIC last Friday–it is HOT! I can’t wait to show you all! Soon, I hope! It’s my favorite cover so far!

This weekend, Wizard and I saw IRONMAN 2 on DVD and loved it! I can’t believe we haven’t watched these movies. And speaking of movies, right now we have PRETTY WOMAN on the TV. This is one of those movies I hate…and love. It’s’ funny and charming BUT it gets on my nerves at the same time because she’s a hooker.  I know it’s fiction, sort of the ultimate Cinderella fantasy of the guy rescuing the girl. I know this and yet the premise bugs me because few women ever get rescued like that. Still, every time it’s on TV, I get sucked in.

Sometimes I give myself a headache! I mean come on, like the stuff I write is any more realistic? Nope.

Sigh. Anyway, how was your weekend?

Distracted By Cuteness!

I tried to find a hunk fail but I got distracted but cuteness….

First I found this Gargoyle.  I love Gargoyles! I used to have one on my desk, but he finally broke.

And then I went on my animal shelter site and found this dog:

Doesn’t he look a little like a gargoyle? Or ET?

And then my son’s girlfriend sent me this picture of a dog named Basil:

Basil doesn’t look anything like a Gargoyle or ET, but he sure is cute!

And that is my excuse for failing to come up with a Hunk Fail today.

Happy Friday!

Whatcha Reading?

Before I start, a reminder to  Linda Sienkiewicz that you won Laura Wright’s book ETERNAL HUNGER. Email me at Jenapodaca@aol.com with your mailing address!

I just finished ADAM by Ted Dekker. The book took a twist I wasn’t expecting, and for me, it’s just too dark of a place.

Before that I read HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins, that was very good! I totally see why people are hooked on her series.

Next up, I think I’m going to read Lara Adrian’s TAKEN BY MIDNIGHT.

What are you reading?

Giving Away 2 Copies of ETERNAL HUNGER!

I bought two copies of my friend and critique partner, Laura Wright’s book ETERNAL HUNGER. I had intended to keep one for myself and give one away here on the blog.

Last weekend, I saw Laura at our local RWA meeting, and was surprised and very touched that she gave me a copy of the book. So…I now have two copies of ETERNAL HUNGER to give away! And Laura graciously signed them!

This is Laura and me at the meeting.

She’s the cute on in the glasses!

All you have to do leave a comment telling me why you love vampires or paranormal books, and I’ll put you in the drawing. I’ll announce the two winners on Monday.

Good Luck!

Klutzy Witch

Okay here’s the story. I’m not really a slacker, I am a klutz.  Sunday evening, I was walking by Wizard, caught my little toe on his shoe and the rest is kind of a painful blur,  but I felt something wrench in my foot/little toe area.

I was having a small dinner party with my son and his girlfriend, so I continued on until everyone became aware of the ugly swelling and discoloration on my foot.

Anyway, I spent Monday at the doctors and getting x-rays, and now we’re waiting for the results of the x-rays to determine how much of a klutz I am:

A Bruised Klutz

or

A Fractured Klutz.

Sigh. It’s around the upper part of my little toe on my left foot. Trust me, it’s not pretty.  Swollen, bruised and making everyone who sees it wince.

Note to medical personal: Your sympathy winces and cringes are not helping. Appletinis would be more helpful…just saying…

Poor Wizard. I swear he was just standing there! Even after all these years of knowing me, he’s still a little stunned that I could manage to get hurt just walking by him.  Naturally I was barefoot, but to his credit, Wizard hasn’t yet said, “How many times have I told you to wear shoes?” He’ll say it when I’m feeling better, I’m sure. But for now, he just winces like everyone else.

Anyway, that’s me, the big klutz. Anyone else have klutz stories? Or am I the only klutz?
