I’m Not Obsessed…Much

I’ve started my last round of revisions on SINFUL MAGIC. For some reason, I was dreading this. I mean really dreading it.  And yet once I stopped procrastinating yesterday and went through all my editor’s notes, I began to realize it’s not as much as I thought.

Then I dove in and got through about 115 pages pretty quickly.  I’m so relieved. I know what it is–I love this book so much, I love Key,  Roxy and the dragon (I LOVE THE DRAGON!) and want to tell their story to the best of my ability.  I was so involved in the first round of revisions, it was a little intense around here.  I was…

Well Wizard has a word for it OBSESSED.  Helpful, isn’t he?

The point is, I was worried–what if I went through all that, and still hadn’t nailed the story? But my editor seems to think I did, and now it just needs a little smoothing. I suppose I won’t really know if I succeeded or failed until the book is out (May 24th, 2011).  But for now, it looks like this round of revisions will be a lot less obsessive intense than the first round!

Isn’t it a nice surprise when something we were agonizing about, turns out to be pretty better than we thought?

See? See?!?!!! This story is going to rock. The breakthrough you had insures it. And now, with a little sandpaper, you can smooth the rough spots and Key, Roxy, AND the dragon will have the story they deserve.

Remind me to send you some perfume for Christmas. Oh, yeah. Obsession. It’s definitely your scent! ;)

Seriously, though, congrats on the revisions not being as bumpy as you anticipated. Hang in there. I’m dying to read this one! :-D

Haha, very funny, Silver! I hope Wizard doesn’t read this comment, or he’ll get me the Obsession perfume :-)

I appreciate your email-help on this book. I hope it’s good…I’m still swinging wildly back and forth, but focusing on the edits is helping.

All this talk of a dragon has me seriously twisting inside, craving this book. Teasers. =op

It sounds like your obsession is going to pay off, though. The only thing I’ve been obsessed about lately is querying. I’ve gone through so many revisions of my query letter – with lots of help – that I think if I mention it on my blog one more time someone is going to shoot me. If the letter doesn’t work, I just might let them. ;o)

Interesting point on Twitter this morning. Someone has to rewrite her quiery letter because it contained the word “Viagra” and the agents/editors’ spam filters tossed it in the spam box. I never even thought of that! Just one more thing to obsess over. LOLOL! ;)

And Jen? You’re welcome. Any time!

B.E., I feel for you on querying! I spent nearly eight years trying to get it right! (Along with writing books etc.) I’m keeping my fingers crossed and chanting spells for you!

    I don’t mean to tease…much…LOLOL!

Silver, it’s a good point about spam filters! Because we can just never have enough to obsess about.

Last time I tried sending my mss to my editor, it wasn’t getting through no matter what we did. I finally had to have my agent send it. We don’t know why. All my other emails to her went through fine. Technology Trolls love to mess with us!

I love Key and the dragon too! So glad you’re obsessed – it’s the only way to live:-)
