Monday Roundup

I missed you all! Thanksgiving was casual and fun at my house. Of course, Biker Witch brought the All-Important-Pies.  My favorite was the Lemon Cheesecake.  I LOVED THAT PIE! By the end of the day, I was tired.  Biker Witch and I got the dishes all done, served everyone pie, then I cut myself a big piece of Lemon Cheesecake.

I was soooo looking forward to eating my pie!

And that’s when Biker Witch stuck her finger in my piece of pie and laughed at me.  Sigh…do you all see what I have to put up with? I’m sure I didn’t do anything to her. Although, it’s hard to remember exactly what I might have said to her, there was a LOT of wine that day. But still, I am the nice sister! I’m sure I couldn’t have said anything mean!

All in all, it was a great day. And I ate my pie even with Biker Witch’s finger indent. And the next two days, I ate even more pie! So take that Biker Witch!

On Saturday, Wizard and I had spent the day out doing errands, and were driving home when I felt something odd on my arm. I looked down, and promptly screamed, “BEE!!!” Then I smashed it into the dashboard, leaving an icky black streak on Wizard’s super clean car.

Evidently, I also scared about three years off Wizard’s life, but to his credit, he calmly pulled over. I jumped out of the car and stood there saying, ” A bee was on my arm.” Wizard walked around, grabbed the floor mat and shook off the half-dead bee. He replaced the floor mat, we got back in the car…

And then he started to laugh. At Me. Again. I am a constant source of amusement to him. Whatever, I went home and had more lemon cheesecake while he cleaned bee-guts off his car.

So how was your Thanksgiving and weekend?

Reading

I’m finally getting to read Kate Carlisle’s book THE LIES THAT BIND. I’m half way through it and really enjoying it! its the third book in the Bibliophile Mystery Series starring Brooklyn Wainwright. Brooklyn is funny and charming, and I just love this series.

And Huge Congratulations to Kate for hitting the New York Times Extended list with THE LIES THAT BIND and the first two books in the series!

What are you reading?

I Clean When…

Yesterday, I was enjoying a leisurely lunch…

Okay, that’s a lie. I was trying to cram in lunch before having to run to the vets office to buy more meds for Sadie Money Pit. I was eating cottage cheese and wheat thins mostly because it’s quick and easy. Sadie was outside playing with one of her toys, and I was trying to listen to some news when I glanced at the wheat thin box and saw something that looks like this:

An ant! It was only one ant,  not a trail…but EWWWW! I jumped up and looked in the pantry.  There were a few more random ants.

Crap.  I guess it’s time to clean the pantry. I spent some quality time doing that, taking a break just long enough to run to the vets and make sure they are flush in cash, then back to more cleaning.

My life is so glamorous. And given the meds I’m giving  Sadie to get rid of any lasting parasites she’s hosting, I suspect it’s only going to get more glamorous in the next few days.  Sigh.

I swear, if the ants come back, I’m going to lose it.

Anyone else battling ants? Any tips? And do you all clean your pantry just because? Or only when desperate?

Reading…I’m not…

I’ve been reading Lora Leigh’s STYX’S STORM and still haven’t finished it. It’s been forever.  I want to finish it but I’m spending more time trying to keep up with other stuff, or playing with Sadie, or trying to keep her out of trouble.

I’m getting pretty worn down physically. Not sure what that’s about.

So what about you all? Getting any good reading done?

Monday!

Wizard has lasted two weeks with Sadie! Come on, admit it, you’re all amazed! I know I am :-) Seriously, Wizard is trying so hard. Saturday, he told me to go to my meeting and he took care of her by himself for hours. And I got out of the house, hanging out with two-legged friends.

When I got home he said he has no idea how I do it all day. LOLOL! I feel the same way. I love her one minute and think evil thoughts the next.

And just to test us,  Sadie ended up with some little parasite friends.  All together now, let’s say, EWWWW!!!!  Sigh.  Then we found out how expensive a trip to the vet and meds are.

Poor Wizard. He can use all your spells (and alcohol!)

The vet told me something about my sweet little Sadie. See her here sleeping with her baby under my desk?

Don’t let that picture fool you. Sadie is a DRAMA QUEEN! The vet said all German shepherds are drama queens and not to give into her.  I burst out laughing! That fits her. Sadie the Drama Queen.

So how was your weekend?

What Was I Thinking?

Sadie suckered me with her pretty face.  Behind that beautiful face is an evil brain.  I’m trying to teach Sadie not to bite. She does the whole puppy biting thing.  It’s normal, and takes patience.

P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E.

I should have thought of that before getting her. I don’t have patience. Anyway, what I’ve been doing when she bites or mouths is to tell her “no bite.” Then if she keeps up (she does because she’s takes that as a “I dare you to keep biting me”) is I get up and turn my back on her.

She hates that. Often she barks or whines or wraps around me feet. This worked for a day.

Then she figured out she’s being played.  So I did it this morning, and her response was to go to the other side of the couch AND TURN HER BACK ON ME.

This is not funny. The dog is smarter than me. Not. Funny.

It’s not!

I’m getting worn out.

I started reading a new book STYX’S STORM by Lora Leigh…who knows if I’ll ever finish it.

Or write again.

So what the heck was I thinking? (Wizard–you BETTER NOT BE LAUGHING!)

Random Tuesday

Wizard was off yesterday, and with the time change–I’m just off my stride. Who am I kidding? I’ve been off my stride for over a week now.

As I’m typing this blog–guess who is sitting on the floor with Sadie sleeping on his lap? It’s not me…it’s Wizard!

Sadie is taming Wizard, LOL! He swears I am brainwashing her, or using a devious spell, to get her to love him so much, but I’ve done nothing! I’ve been too tired to come up with a good spell or effective brainwashing.

It’s all Sadie. She thinks Wizard Totally Rules.

Now on another subject, we set out clocks back in CA and it’s now dark by 5  P.M. I like the mornings better, but the night suck.  Sometimes it’s cozy and fun, but mostly…not.  Mostly it’s boring being stuck in the house.  We don’t even feel as motivated to go into the hot tub.

So what about you? Do you like dark, cold nights? Or long summer nights? Which is more romantic for you?
