Dear Insomnia…

Why me? Why do you insist on keeping me up night after night until I am a raging mess in the day? Haven’t you learned yet that I have nothing interesting to say at two am? And lately, with all your nightly visits, I have nothing interesting to say at 2 pm or at any given hour.

I’m going to suggest you go visit Charlie Sheen.  He’s much more interesting that me.

Sincerely,

Jen Lyon

So…do any of you suffer from insomnia?

P.S. I’m so tired I just frustrated a door to door salesman so much he said, “I don’t need this from you!” And stomped off. Dude, you pounded on my door and wouldn’t accept my reasonably polite “I’m not interested,” and you’re mad at me? LOLOL!!!

P.S.S.  Five more days until NIGHT MAGIC comes out!

Jen, I’ve had days like that. Days when I come home from work, tired as H@#$, go to bed, only to toss and turn. Then, when I finally do get to sleep, I wake up after only 2 or 3 hours. I hate those days!!

Yayayay!!! Only five more days! I can’t wait! I really need my Phoenix fix. Think I’ll just have to slip into the lair and see what trouble Phoenix and I can find :D

:hugs: I feel your pain. I don’t so much have trouble falling asleep – I have trouble staying asleep. (Like last night when I got up twice to write down ideas.) I slept until almost 6 this morning, though, so it’s a win-win (because they were pretty good ideas). Here’s hoping you can sleep soon or at least get some benefit out of being awake at 2.

Five days! Yay! And I’ll be in the vicinity of a bookstore on Tuesday, too, for ‘Admitted Student Information Session and Tour’. Five months and my little girl will be in college. :shudder:

You guys are probably going to hex me for saying this, but I NEVER have trouble sleeping. In fact I’m quite the oppisite, have trouble staying awake. I can pretty much sleep anywhere, anytime.

Hubby however has chronic insomnia. He usually can’t sleep until he is practically passing out, so I do have much sympathy for you Jen. Even though I havn’t experienced it I’ve seen how frustrating it can be.

I am so totally confused. :( Yesterday I went to buy a new book by Marjari Lui and right there on the shelf at Books a million was Night Magic. Of course I picked it up and bought it right then but I did ask the clerk about the fact that it was out before the release date. He put it in the computer and said if it was before the release date they would not be able to sell it. The computer let me buy it without a beep. I am not complaining. I am glad to have my copy :) , but I wanted to let you know incase this had any effect on your publishing contract. I had to put the book in my suit case to save it for my vaction or I would read it in one day. Kind of the way I have to hide the girl scout cookies in the Laundry Room. No one else but me goes in there.

Dawn, you work nights, right? That has to be hard on your sleep patterns!

I’m sure you can find lots of trouble in the lair :-)

B.E., it’s worth a little loss of sleep if you had good ideas! I sometimes do that when I first go to bed, but later I try to never get up and engage in work–or I won’t sleep at all.

Isn’t it strange to realize your child will be in college? But you must be very proud!

Val, I won’t hex you but I am jealous of you! Frankly, I think people who sleep well are just smarter. They know problems don’t get solves at 2am so they sleep so they are rested to tackle the problems the next day.

    I feel for your husband!

Kat, you’re the second person who has told me that about BAM. I’ll let the publisher know, but it’s not the clerks fault. Maybe there’s a mistake in the computer program although their Online store shows the correct date.

This kind of bleed through in sales affects hitting lists, that’s why the publishers have strict lay down (the day the book goes on sale) dates.

But I’m glad you got the book! This is an omen that you and your family are going to have the best vacation yet :-)

*raises hand* I am the Queen of Insomnia so I feel your pain, Jen. We should do like a live chat or something. LOL I sleep for an hour or two, lay awake for an hour or two, and here lately, I’ve given up around 6 a.m. and head for the coffee pot. By 2 p.m., I’m ready for a nap, despite a pot of coffee. But if I nap, then I don’t sleep at all that night. Vicious circle. :-P

I’ve got the paperback coming from Borders in the mail and the Kindle addition arriving by magic. ;) I. Can’t. Wait!!!!!

I have trouble sleeping most nights. Sometimes I just break down and take an over the counter sleeping pill, but it does make me groggy and sluggish the next day.

I don’t suffer insomnia all that often but I only get 4 hrs of sleep a night if I’m lucky. When my husbands home that sleep is very interrupted as well due to his snoring.
I feel for you. It sucks being tired.

Viki, snoring can make it hard to sleep! Four hours doesn’t sound like enough sleep to me.

I always do! Paper for the keeper shelf. Digital for the Kindle for ease of reading. :D

Carla, that is a very strange sensation to wake up like that! I’ve only done it a couple times but it scares me. Makes me wonder what else we’re doing while we’re asleep that we don’t know about.
