Brownie and Dragon Hangover

I made brownies for myself for Mother’s Day yesterday and ate too much! Had a great Mother’s Day though–and hope everyone else did as well!

And I read Thea Harrison’s DRAGON BOUND. I LOVED THAT BOOK! It’s was so good, I couldn’t bring myself to start reading another book after it. I knew nothing else would compare for a while…do you guys ever feel like that?

Oh and Wizard is telling me Every Single Day how good the flowers I planted last week look :-)

So how was your weekend?

I’m jealous of your reading Dragon Bound. I still haven’t gone into town to buy a copy. Hopefully this week.
Saturday my boy graduated from college. It was lovely.
I took myself to see THOR yesterday. It was really a good movie – not to mention Chris is HOT!
All in all I had great weekend :).

Happy to hear your flowers are doing well :).

Mmm, brownies. Sounds like you had an awesome Mother’s Day weekend, and Yay for Wizard appreciating your flowers. =o)

I spent the weekend tending to my boo-boo kitty, reading and trying to get back into the habit of being a writer. I did manage to get a couple thousand words out on my secret WIP and I worked on rewriting the beginning of the urban fantasy I’ve been querying.

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night I went out with friends to watch the Red Wings game. The end was a little too close for comfort. I think I may have forgotten to breathe for a moment or two. But the Wings won to stay alive for Game 5 :D Later that night was my last night in my former job. (I start my new one today :) ) Sunday, my mom and I went shopping. I took her to lunch and spent more money on clothes than I ever remember spending in one day. After shopping, we stopped for ice cream. Mmmmm, it was yummy. Then I watched Game 5 between the Red Wings and the Sharks. It wasn’t looking good for my team for a while, but they pulled out the win. Yea! Go Wings!!

*sigh* *puts Dragon Bound on wish list* I know exactly how you feel, Jen. I finished Emma Bull’s WAR OF THE OAKS this weekend and…man. Her words and the story STILL echo in my head. This book is credited with being the first “urban fantasy”, released back in 1987 and re-released in 2001. I have no clue how I missed reading this book the first time around but in retrospect, I’m glad I did. Had I read it back then, I probably would never have written another word.

Mother’s Day was nice and quiet. I finished off the last of my revisions and the MS is off to Secret Agent Lady. When Lawyer Guy woke up, we did some much needed yard work and then we met The Only and Baseball Boy for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. She brought me tulips, a CD box for my new office, and an Amazon GC. Yes, she knows me well! I also got a new MacBook Air. Lawyer Guy gave me $$ to get some accessories for it. Now I just have to convince myself to get to the Mac store at the mall. Have I mentioned I HATE the mall?

Good thing Wizard is complimenting your flowers. Glad to know my spell is still working!

Happy Monday, witches! Is it too early for appletinis?

Viki, I don’t want to oversell the book, but it’s totally worth a trip into town.

Congrats on your son’s college graduation! Isn’t that an amazing moment when you see all their hard work pay off?

    I have to see THOR!

Dawn that sounds like a great weekend! And sometimes we just have to blow the budget and buy clothes :-)

Good luck on your new job! We want to hear all about it!

B.E., when you say “secret WIP” it’s stirs my curiosity to dangerous levels…just saying…!!!

Hope the kitty is doing well!

Silver you need to read DRAGON BOUND. You can download it to your Kindle! I did, and then I couldn’t stop reading.

Your Mother’s Day sounds grand! Now get your butt to the mall! Go early. Buy yourself a Starbucks as an incentive (that works for me-I’m the WORST at going shopping).

Your spell is working on the flower :-)

Yes, you must see THOR. It really is a good movie. The story line is good and so is the acting. My daughter-in-law is upset w/me because I said it was better than Pirates. But they’re two different types of movies. Pirates is basically just for fun whereas THOR was a movie with substance.

I spent Mother’s Day taking my last 3 finals of the semester, and let me just say I will never take a Sunday class again! Lol When I finally got home, roughly 10 hours later, I worked in the garden and flower beds some and made elephant ears with my 2 boys. All in all it was a good day!

Its good to hear you enjoyed Dragon Bound since I just bougt it the other day and have been deliberaing reading it or not. I’ve heard good things about it from Laura Wrights fb page.

Shiloh, that’s a tough Mother’s Day! But all your hard work will pay off and your boys will respect you for it!

When you do read Dragon Bound, let me know what you think!

I call it my secret WIP because it’s something totally different from anything I’ve written – YA Fantasy (or maybe MG – I don’t know yet) and I’m not quite sure enough about my ability to write the story to discuss it yet.

And Max is the boo-boo kitty in question. He got in a fight last week and ended up with a couple nasty abscesses. Now he’s convalescing in his own private suite in the basement. I finally got him in to the vet last night, and he’ll be fine, but he has to stay inside until the wounds heal.
