My Weekend in Texas

Wizard and I went to Fort Worth, Texas to see old friends we haven’t seen in years.  I’m absolutely stunned at how well this trip went.  Our flights were on time, and landed early both ways.  Our one suitcase that we checked arrived with us.  I didn’t accidentally go into any men’s restrooms in the airports. Always a bonus!

Of course, Wizard did point out the difference between men and women’s restrooms every chance he got. Funny, Wziard, real funny.

In Texas, we had so much fun with our friends.  We ate great food, laughed a lot, went out on their boat.  Oh! And from the boat, they showed me Chuck Norris’s house! I wish I’d had my camera! I’m trying to remember the name of the lake, but it’s escaping me now.

We also passed some really nice looking horse farms, but I never saw a cowboy :-)

On the way back to the airport, there was construction and we somehow missed the turn off. We drove a ways before we admitted we had screwed up and I was starting to panic. But Wizard just pulled off, took out a map (an old fashion map!) read it and got us right back to the airport.  All with very minimal swearing.  The man is freaky good at finding his way around.

Me? I can turn the wrong way off an elevator in a hotel and be lost in minutes.

Finally in the airport and waiting around, we were people watching. There were some interesting people. Wizard started calling them “paranormals” causing me to bust out laughing like a…well…a “paranormal.” Sigh.

I seriously thought I’d come back with some dumb witch stories about me, but my luck seemed to be extraordinarily good!

Anyway, that was our weekend. How was yours?

I’m glad you had a good time.
My weekend began poorly. While out the house was struck by lightning and everything was blown out including my computer. Thank heaven my 22 yr fixed the computer and repair people took care of the power, phone and cable.
Sunday PeeWee (grand puppy) arrived. He was tons of fun. His “parents” picked him up at 8 PM last night.

I wish my weekend was as fun as yours sounds. Mine started out on Friday with the news that the company for which I work is closing the facility here as of Sept. 19th. And here I thought I’d found a company I could work for until I retired. So much for that! My songs for the weekend? Stevie Nicks SOMETIMES IT’S A BITCH and Jimmy Buffett A LOT TO DRINK ABOUT.

I did get out Saturday to see a movie with my best friend. We saw Harry Potter. Then we went to Barnes and Noble and looked around for a bit. I decided I needed chocolate and bought some Godiva. Then, yesterday, I hit a big birthday. I’m not telling which one. My dad was, oh so kind, and wrote it in soap all over my car windows. And some of my coworkers put it up all over the building at work.

Sounds like you had a blast. =o)

My weekend’s a blur. I typed a lot, read a lot… Oh yeah, and did yardwork. The little strip of weeds I call my backyard (the one I can’t get a mower down) is now within code limits so I don’t get ticketed. Nothing like pulling lots of weeds to tone the backs of your thighs. Ugh.

Dawn, on no! I’m so sorry about the company closing! That’s a big blow. You need a truck load of Godvia to deal with that.

Happy Belated Birthday, whichever birthday it was :-)

B.E., I ache just thinking of all that weed pulling! Glad it’s done now.

Yikes, Viki! So glad there was no fire to add injury to insult!

Oh, Dawn! I’m so sorry. I hope something new and better comes along ASAP! Fingers crossed the Job Fairy is good to you.

B.E., glad your getting new words done. It’s so hot and dry here, we don’t even have to mow anymore. I sure wish Jen had done some weather witching when she was down in Ft. Worth. Those storms blow up this way when we’re lucky!

Glad you had a great time, Jen. And yeah, guessing you did the DFW thing? I thoroughly dislike that airport! As for me? I wrote madly, cleaned house since the vacuum finally got fixed, stayed in out of the heat, and watched Women’s World Cup Softball. USA beat Japan last night to take back the title. YAY!

My poor son and his wife got home from Comic Con around 6 last night and stopped at home (west side of Cleveland) before coming to pick up PeeWee at my house (1 hour south east of Cleveland) to find the basement had flooded with the rains last week.
The person who was supposed to check on the house never did  . So these kids have had to try and get the mess cleaned up. They said the house smells totally of mildew. I lent them steam cleaner to try and extract most of the water.
So no matter how bad things get someone else has it worse. I really feel for them.

Silver, you guessed it, DFW airport. There was so much construction and re-routing, that we missed the turn off.

I was in Oklahoma briefly while on the lake–I waved to you but not sure you saw me :-) And sorry, my weather witching appears to be on the fritz. You all can really use some magic in the weather department.

Good about writing madly, and housework…well it’s a necessary evil.

Oh Viki, your poor son and daughter in law! That’s horrible and, evidently could have been minimized if the person had just checked the house. I’m sorry to hear it. Hope the steam cleaner helps.

Ah ha! Your friends must have taken you to Lake Texhoma. It’s the only lake that one side is Texas and the other is Oklahoma. And I wondered who was in that boat waving madly! ;)

Jennifer, you need to come to Oklahoma if you want to see cowboys. Our rodeo is this coming weekend, 4th, 5th and 6th.
