Weekend Roundup

My weekend was pretty good, yet not interesting enough to write about.  I’m over at MurderSheWrites today, but that blog is really lame.  I think I’ve hit blog burnout. It’ll pass, it always does. On the upside, I’m giving away a copy of BLOOD MAGIC and SOUL MAGIC so if you’re interested, hop on over to MurderSheWrites.

How was your weekend?

Will check out the blog later today and I’m sure it’s a good one.

My weekend wasn’t the best. My 96 yr old grandmother has gotten ill and things are tense. She’s in NY and I’m in OH. She raised me and I love her more than can be said.
Also spent Saturday moving the 22 yr old into his new apartment.

Didn’t get much reading done. I do like Storm’s Heart. I like the interaction between Tiago and Niniane.

Your blog posts are never as lame as you think they are, Jen. =op

Well, I got the kid moved into her dorm room on Thursday, so I spent the weekend angsting over her being up there, talking with her on the phone and trying to recover from all those trips up and down 7 flights of stairs. I’m mostly human again now. I also worked up a schedule to get back into the writing groove. It starts today. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m pretty excited.

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, Viki. I’ll keep positive thoughts for her and for you.

meh, I hardly have the energy to respond. I think I need a nap – we lost power due to thunder & lightening storms two out of three nights and it’s hard to sleep when you can hear every creak in the house – not to mention, sleeping without an airconditioner in this weather is KILLER!

Viki, I’m so sorry that your grandmother is ill. It’s clear that you she’s a huge part of your heart. I’m sending my good wishes. This is a tough time for you.

Helping anyone move is hard work, but sons–well we tend to want to do even more than we should. Cleaning, organizing, etc.

B.E., if felt lame :-) Really lame. Sigh. But thanks!

OH wow, moving the kid into a dorm room has to be a huge emotional drain as well as physical. My kids went (and two still go) to college closer to home. I’ve helped them move into apartments and now, a house, but they’ve always been less than an hour away from me. Much harder on you!

I am thrilled to hear you’re excited about writing! You’ll stick to the schedule, I know you will!

Oh, Viki, I’m so sorry about your grandmother. Sending good thoughts to you and her.

B.E., trust me, you’ll enjoy having DD out from under your feet once the shock wears off!

Ban, yikes! Y’all have had some serious rain up that way! Sorry for no electricity. Trying to sleep when it’s hot sucks!

Jen, I agree with B.E. Your posts are much better than you think.

Me? I went to a softball tournament on Saturday. The Only has been asked to help coach, as a volunteer, a little high school team. These girls broke my heart. Their equipment was stolen over the summer, their uniforms are old, some of them don’t have cleats. One is a teen mother, one has parents in prison, and the school is full of gangs and drugs. These girls have turned to softball to find some semblance of acceptance. Half the team has never played before. We dug out all of The Only’s softball gear and shuttled it down for the school to use. I’ll be trying to help coach as I can and TO will work with the pitchers and catchers. Neither of the school coaches know much, though the assistant coach did play baseball once upon a time. Totally different game.

I caught up on my DVR’d TV shows on Sunday and enjoyed my last day of freedom before diving back into my WIP. I sent off the one I just finished for submission on Friday so y’all keep your fingers crossed! Break time’s over. Back to work….

Silver, you are so generous! I know the girls on the team will appreciate any help you can give them! It’s such a sad story, but people like you change lives!

Congratulations on sending off a submission on Friday! Awesome!
