Weekend Roundup

It was a pretty good weekend. Wizard and I went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate our anniversary.   We rarely ever have dessert when we go out, mostly because we’re always too full. But this restaurant has a specialty–a chocolate lava cake.

I dream about this cake! For days I lusted after it. I told Wizard I was ordering it.

He shrugged. He was much more interested in the steak and lobster.

Amateur.  He’s known me this long, and he doesn’t listen to me when I recommend dessert? He’ll learn.

So we go to the restaurant.  We order drinks–I tried a gimlet.  I’m so adventurous! Then we ordered dinner and I pre ordered the chocolate lava cake.

Wizard smirked at me. He was indulging me, sure that he wouldn’t be interested in dessert. That smirk said it all.

Oh Wizard…

So we ate, dinner was wonderful. I’m bouncing in my chair, waiting for dessert. Now Wizard is laughing at me, totally amused.

Then desert arrives.

Chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream, fudge sauce and heath bar topping. The waiter set it between us, handed us spoons and left.

Wizard is impressed, so he decided to try a bite.

Then the battle was on! We were fighting over this cake! Both trying to get as much as we could. Both of us gorging and laughing at the same time. Then, because he loves me, he gave me the last bite.

When we were finished, he looked at me and said, “Next time, we order two.”

I laughed.

And on Sunday, I wowed him again by making lemon curd. Then I made tiny cups out of pie crust and filled them with the lemon curd (such a gross name)  and dusted them with powdered sugar.

So my weekend was dessert laden and now? I’m going to the gym and getting back on my Weight Watchers Maintenance! Hopefully…

How was your weekend?

Wow, that cake looks yummy. Glad to hear you had such a n ice celebration.
Our anniversary is this Wednesday so we took the family out to dinner Saturday too :). AND – we never do dessert either but not only did we order one but they brought us a piece of flourless chocolate cake too :).
Yesterday we took our turkey fryer to my hubs brothers and did a turkey and meal. He’s just found out he has lung cancer and things don’t look good. He’s only 53. It was nice to do the meal for him and his family. Lightened things up a bit.

I’m so glad you had a fun anniversary. That cake looks to die for. Wizard should know better then to doubt you about dessert. Witches know dessert.

I set myself a goal to type 4K words yesterday and at about 3K I wanted to give up, but I didn’t. I hit the goal and then collapsed on the couch. LOL Other than that, nothing much happened this weekend. Oh, yeah… my car had a coronary on Friday. Fuel pump kapoot – on backorder ’til Tuesday. So I’m sans vehicle until then. And they’re predicting a snowstorm tonight. Yip ee.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law, Viki. My thoughts are with you.

LOL I love the sippy cup by the dessert! And it looks divine!!! I didn’t have a dessert filled weekend, I did have a food-filled weekend…..meaning I ate way too much of everything in sight! Just one of those weekends. *sigh*

I’m so sorry to hear about your brother-in-law! Cancer is such an awful disease, my son battled renal cancer when he was two.

Congratulations B.E. on hitting your goal!

Viki I will light a candle for your bother-in-law and the whole family. I have quite a few lit right now. I work with devepolmentaly disabled adults and their families. One individual a young woman of 33 is going in for neck surgery this thursday for a fractured vertabrae. She was a very active person in the local special olypmics and here at the the day center she is the person that will always know when some one just needs a hug or a pat on the back and a “It alright baby.” The people I work with are such a blessing that it tears me up to see them hurt.

There is always another side of the coin. This sunday I worked with 105 girlscouts at a native american cultural day. It went great. The girls made crafts played games and had a great time. The day ended with a Cheif of the Tuscawara Nation speaking to everyone about the culture and the need for caring for our mother earth. The gentleman was amazing. Anyone who with just the power of their presence that can keep a 105 girls quite for 45 minutes has my total admiration.

I felt blessed being able to bring together the event and to hear the Chief speak. I am hoping to carry that blessing over into everything I do this week. So I will certianly send it out to all that need it. Blessed Be.

Viki, I’m so sorry about your brother in law. That must be a huge weight for your family right now. I’m sure they loved having the fried turkey and family around them this weekend.

    Happy Anniversary!

B.E., oh ugh about your car! Being stranded in a potential snow storm isn’t good either. I hope your power doesn’t go out.

Yay on the 4K words! That’s a great achievement!

Shiloh, the pic is from google images, so it’s not our sippy cup :-) I totally can relate to the eating weekend. We all do it!

I had no idea about your son. No two year old should have to face that, or his parents.

Sending good thoughts to your family, Viki.

BE, here’s hoping the snow is light and your car is resuscitated but awesome on the words!

Oh, wow, Shiloh. Your son must be a strong young man!

Kat, keep up the good work!

Jen, happy anniversary and that cake looks divine! I want. *whine*

My weekend? Iffy and I argued over the current WIP until I gave in. I’m up to over 12K words now after a marathon weekend of writing. Lawyer Guy and I did some yard work and winter prep on the house, which we were checking for damage after the earthquake Saturday night. That was wild! Both college teams won. We found a new Irish pub to try for dinner and it has my favorite beer on tap. I don’t think I’m ready for this week, but what’s the alternative? LOL ;)
