Where I Am Today & Reading

I’m over at Vampires, Werewolves & Fairies, Oh My! today if you’d like to drop by.  It’s a great site, so if you have a chance, stop by and take a look!

Okay, so yesterday I finished the draft of my newest proposal. I was rather stunned. It needs a some revision and a lot of polishing, but I have to say it’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed writing this much.

Sometimes we just need a change of pace.

But once I’m done I’m going back to the dragons, which my agent is now calling “our dragons.” That really cracked me up.  I’ve been with my agent a long time for a reason :D

Okay on reading. I finally broke down and bought NEW YORK TO DALLAS by JD Robb on my Kindle. I don’t like to spend $14.99 on my Kindle–I guess because it’s not a physical book.  But I am glad I did! I really enjoyed the book. There is something deeply comforting and sexy in the way Eve and Roark’s relationship has evolved over a bazillion books (or however many books JD aka Nora has written).

But I’m at a loss of what to read next. I’m just…pickier these days, I guess.

Okay tell me what book you’re reading, or you know, just chat about anything you want.

Thanks for the update. I can’t wait to hear more on this proposal as things progress.
I’m currently reading BODYGUARDS IN BED and will soon begin DARKNESS UNBOUND.

Ugh! I’m in a funk, can’t get into anything yet. I did rent the “Un” series Lois Greiman from the library but haven’t exactly started it yet. I keep saying I’m going to but then don’t. :-| Nothing even seems exciting right now. I think my brain may be burnt out from all the reading I’ve been doing since finally starting the nursing program. *sigh*

I’m glad you are enjoying writing again! I don’t know how it feels to not be really into it but I do know how it feels to not be into something you usually enjoy! Glad you got your mojo back!

Other than that nothing exciting going on in my life. The local radio station is doing their annual Make-A-Wish request a thon. I always donate and encourage others to since they were so great to us when we got to take a Make-A-Wish trip for my son. Plus it’s great to hear all the songs you don’t usually hear on the radio anymore. Eye of the Tiger is a favorite during the request a thon, I love it! :-P

    Yay for enjoying the writing!

What I’m reading right now is the first in the Runelords series (Fantasy – David Farland). I picked up the whole trilogy back in March when Borders was having its going out of business sale. Since I needed a break from paranormal, I figured now was as good a time as any to start reading it.

If you want suggestions on what to try next, pick up Kristen Painter’s Blood Rights. She’s got an entirely new take on the vampire mythology. It’s dark, it’s deadly and it’s sexy. (And I’m not just saying that ‘cuz I like Kristen as a person.)

Not Reading yet, but on Tuesday Evening I went to a local university and heard Jay Allison speak. He was the National Public Radio force behind thier revival of the Radio Series This I Believe :-D I used to be 15 to 20 minutes late to work on the days that they ran the show on my local NPR station because I was out in the parking lot listening to it. You can still get it through pod casts. The whole premiss is that anyone writes an essay of 500 words about thier core belief. The essays are so inspiring. The element that makes them the most powerful is that they are read by the authors so you hear their voices and the true conviction in the beliefs they wrote about.
I am addicted to books and the written word, but as a camp fire story teller I understand the magic and lasting power of voice. It was great to hear him talk about the project. So on my christmas list this year is both the written collection and the compaion CD for This I Believe. I hope to be reading and listening soon.

Reading: I have Thea Harrison’s newest Elder Races novel on my bedside. It’s…not as compelling as the first one. I have a crap-load of stuff on my Kindle and I’m getting a Kindle Fire today. It’s an early Christmas present. I’m hoping that will distract Iffy long enough I can get some work done before she starts bugging me about her latest insanity–a Big Foot/Sasquatch paranormal romance. Don’t ask.

I got Jeaniene Frosts’ HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE for free on my Kindle so I plan to give her a try at some point. I’ve not read her before. OH! And SEAL OF MY DREAMS. (I had to pull out the iPhone and see what’s in my archives. LOL)

Shiloh, it sounds like you are suffering a little burnout with all your homework and class reading.

The business of writing can sometimes suck out the joy :-(

Make A Wish is a such a great organization. I’m so glad your son got his wish. I hope it was a special time for all of you.

Eye of the Tiger is on my iPod for working out :-)

Silver, lucky you!!! I hope you love your Kindle Fire!

I read thirty pages of the Elder Race third book and stopped. I’ll go back to it eventually.

I love Jeanianne Frost’s series! Try it, I think you’ll like it too.

Love hearing that the dragons stories may continue as I am reading the last one right now. Next on my reading list is going back through the Alyssa Day’s The Warriors of Poseidon. Happy writing.
