Weekend Roundup

We decorated our house for Christmas this weekend, including getting a live tree. I need a spell to keep that tree green and vibrant through the Christmas! But we had to do it this weekend as the next weekends are booked.

Wizard actually likes the blue and silver ornaments.  I think we were just ready for a change, plus we have a lot of “other” stuff around the house that’s much more traditional.

I even started shopping, just a little. It went pretty well until I get into the store that I specifically went to that city for.  AND I BLANKED. For the life of me, I could not remember the one detail I needed to guy the gift.  I had a note on it…SITTING RIGHT ON MY DESK AT HOME. Which did me no good. So I shall be making a return trip to that store.

But overall my weekend was great. And Friday,  I sent my new proposal to my agent.  I’m not going to jinx it by saying anything more.

So how was your weekend?

You did better than me. I got all the decorations out of the basement and the tree up with lights. That’s where it ended. I was in the kitchen almost all weekend making my soon to be 23 yr old favorite lasagna. This thing takes hours to make and weighs about 20 pounds when I get it in the oven. But it’s worth the work.
The decorations will go up over the next two days when I fit it in :).
I still have tons of point and click shopping to do.
So sorry you forgot to buy the gift. It’s a pain to have to back track. Hope all worked out okay.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for an excellent response from your agent.

First off – Woohoo for sending the proposal to your agent. :hugs:

My mom always put an aspirin in the water for a live tree. And Dad always cut an inch off the trunk when he got the tree home, so it would have a fresh cut to soak up the water and aspirin. Other than that, you’re on your own. I’ve never had a live tree on my own.

As for me, 12/1 I started what my daughter has termed HoHoNoWriMo (HouseHold Novel Writing Month). I didn’t have time for NaNo in November. So far I’m on target to write 50K this month. Plus, I sent my recently finished rewrite out to be read. Life’s good. =o)

Viki, that lasagna must be awesome!

Isn’t it crazy how busy December gets? I’m sitting here now (after the gym) trying to plan it out. It’s all the running around that kills me.

Thanks for the crossed fingers :-)

    B.E., thanks!

We got a fresh cut on our tree and it’s soaking up water, so hopefully it’ll last.

That’s freaking fantastic on your word count! I can’t write like that and am awed at people who can! Love your daughter’s term, LOL!

It’s Monday again, isn’t it? *sigh* I went looking for the outdoor lights. We couldn’t find them in the garage so I hope they’re in the attic. We roadtripped Saturday (in a cold, pouring rain!) down to the small town where The Only has an interview at a museum. It was a fun day for Lawyer Guy, Only, and me. We got home, picked up a pizza to bake and settled in for the football game between OSU and OU. OSU won, decisively, but got screwed in the BCS. They won’t be playing for the national championship even though their record is better than Alabama’s. Ok, ’nuff said about that topic. Yeah, we’re all a little hot under the collar over it.

Moving on…It’s COLD outside! Yeah, yeah, it’s December, it’s supposed to be cold. LOL And I’m excited you sent off the proposal. I’ve been a slackard and haven’t worked in a week. I’m waiting on some beta readers to respond and stewing over a new idea, but I still have a couple of projects I need to work on. I just want to curl up under the covers and read though.

    Happy Monday, witches.

Silver, it most definitely is Monday.

Hope Only’s interview went well! The roadtrip sounds fun. But sorry about your team getting screwed. Somehow, I don’t think you’re over it yet :-)

It’s coldish here, I feel it. But I think it’s colder there!

Thanks on my proposal, and you probably needed a little time away from writing. You’ll go back once you get the beta readers responses, and your idea finishes stewing!

Yay on the proposal! I hope to hear more soon :)

You should be able to find a solution to put in the water for the tree. When my parents had live trees, they always put something in the water to make the tree last longer. I think it should be available at a drug store or grocery store.

I had a decent weekend after the car incident. I didn’t do much on Friday. Saturday, I got up early and went shopping with a friend and her sister. We went on a trip put on by the alumni association of one of the local colleges. It was lots of fun and I bought a few gifts. I was really tired by the end of the day though. Sunday didn’t do much of anything. Had a decent day at work today and then had to turn in my rental. The dealership let me take my car home even though I haven’t received the title for the one I totaled to get the check from my insurance. So my nice new car is now in my garage. I’m loving it!!

    Happy Monday!

Dawn, congrats on having your new car in your garage! I hope it likes its new home :-)

The tree looks like its drinking water and doing well, so we’ll see.

Shopping is tiring! Hope you had a blast with your friend and her sister. Sounds like you go a good start.
