Reading Anything Exciting?

I hate being out of the loop, but I haven’t been keeping up on new or exciting books lately. Heck, I met Biker Witch in Barnes and Noble yesterday and never even looked at books.

I know–blasphemy!

Broken Leg Boy wheeled himself all over the store while Biker Witch and I had coffee and chatted. BLB looked at a ton of books, then wheeled himself over to join us with a book on his lap he planned to buy.

Biker Witch bought  the book for him. I feel I must point out here that she totally spoils her nephews.  She claims it’s because he broke his leg, had surgery, etc. But I know the truth–she likes spoiling them all.

Anyway, I’m wondering what you guys are reading that has you excited? I have a stack of contest books I need to read, but I can work in a couple books in between :-)

I’m so glad you all met up at B&N. It’s okay that you you just chatted and didn’t look at books this time  .

It must be wonderful for your son to be able to move about. What a nice Aunt :). I’m sure she does enjoy spoiling the boys. You should see my husband with our nieces. Since all we had were boys he goes over the top.

I’m reading Jennifer Lynn Barnes latest YA EVERY OTHER DAY. It’s an interesting read. The girl is not quite human and every other 24 hrs she becomes a paranormal hunter. The other 24 hrs she’s kind of normal. She unknowingly becomes involved in an experiment by a genetics company. A girl at school had been injected with a creature that is killing her and Kali finds a way to have it enter her body. That’s as far as I am right now.

In a few hours I go in for my next round of surgery on my mouth. Not looking forward to it at all.

Hi all, glad BLB is getting around a little better. The progress will only continue upwards for here.

I just finished Jennifer Ashley’s Unbound Shifters (at least the ones that are written). They were pretty good.

You went to a book store! A real book store! Sigh My family won’t let me near one until after the tax money comes back and then I have to be nonitored really carefully. So I am not really reading anything new or exciting. I recently finished a Lora Leigh elite ops book. I did not like it as much as I have her Breed series. Every thing out there is in a series format it seems. I am not totally complaining but it does have drawbacks of not knowing which book to start with or if you find yourself in the middle it is hard to get the whole thing if you haven’t read the other books. Or you end up slugging through the explaination of the back story that I lose interest in what I am currently reading. I am looking for some stories that are self contained complete on their own. Although there is this Novella that I am waiting for… Hint Hint :)

Oh Viki–that surgery! Ugh! I hope it’s easier for you this time, and you’re able to eat more.

EVERY OTHER DAY does sound like an interesting premise!

It’s great having BLB able to get around more. He’s getting some strength and endurance back which is helping too.

Labrat11, thanks on BLB! We’re all breathing a sigh of relief at his progress now. We’ll know more in two weeks when he says the doctor.

I hear about Jennifer Ashley, but haven’t read her yet. I must do that!

Kat, that is such a good point on series! I’ve heard that comment before and it’s totally valid. I like stand alone books too, but there just aren’t as many out there.

LOL on not being allowed in a bookstore! That cracked me up, mostly because I can relate so well to that!

I really liked LL’s Breeds, but don’t have much interest in her special ops. We think alike :-)

*Gasp* Didn’t even look??? I can’t comprehend that!! I bet it was nice to get out of the house, for you and BLB! Nothing like being cooped up on the I/R list to make you just feel worse! Hmmm….what am I reading that’s interesting? Fundamentals of nursing! You should all check it out, maybe give me the cliff-notes version! No, well I had to try! No time for reading around here. My oldest has to see an ENT and have his immunology checked because he continuously gets ear infections and the doctors are worried his immune system is still suppressed from his chemo and radiation. So lots of doc visits and blood work in between us all having school! *sigh*

Go to B&N and not look?!?!? 8-O What’s wrong? Are you sick? That’s the only reason I can think of to go into B&N and not at least LOOK at books! At least BLB got a book. Glad you were both able to get out of the house for a bit :)

I just finished Jayne Anne Krentz COPPER BEACH. I have about a dozen books waiting for me on my Nook, but I just haven’t felt much like reading lately. Not the books on my TBR list, anyway. Maybe I’ll feel more like reading when the ones I have preordered for next week are available.

Shiloh, I’m as surprised as you are that I didn’t look around at B&N. Time just got away from us, I guess :-)

I hope your son’s immune system is functioning, and he’s just having bad luck with the ear infections. I feel for you on all the running around and doctor visits. It seems so unfair that he (and you) had to go through chemo and radiation, and now has to deal with the possible side effects as well.

Notice my hand didn’t go up to volunteer to read your nursing tomes, LOL!

Dawn, I have a cold, does that count??? Mainly, I just didn’t want to keep BLB out too long so I sacrificed :-)

I went through that not feeling like reading for a while too. I’m enjoying reading more now when I have the time. Sounds like your excited about your books that will drop on your Nook next week though.

So glad that BLB is getting around and gaining strength. Wheelchairs pretty much suck, but they do give you a great upper body workout. I hear ya on the no books thing. That last time the kid and I were at B&N she bought a CD and I walked out with nothing. I chalk it up to paying for college plus guilt over the size of my TBR pile.

Have you ever heard of the OSI series by Jes Bettis? The first book kinda drags, but Jes really picks it up in the rest of the series. I’m in the middle of Infernal Affairs – the most recent installment. Fast, fun urban fantasy set in Vancouver. =o)
