Dessert and Update on Projects.

I did something I never do last night.  Something wild and wicked. I am such a bad witch.

I ordered desert. Molten Chocolate Cake. YUM!!!

Wizard and I went out to dinner since Broken Leg Boy was at his girlfriend’s house. I had my normal chicken fajita, partly because I like it and partly because it helps me keep my weight where I want it.

But then Wizard asked a sneaky and devious question

“Do you want to get a (alcoholic) drink or dessert?”

I looked up from the dessert menu I was drooling over. “Is this a trick? We never order dessert.” We hardly ever order a drink either, but still…I was confused.

He grinned. “What can I say, you have a way with desserts. Choose.”

And I did–Chocolate Molten Cake. The two of us attacked that cake!

And so it’s official. When we first married, Wizard hardly ever ate dessert. But now I have fully and completely corrupted him. After all, it’s no fun being wicked alone :-) Although I must pay for being wicked tomorrow and cut down a bit.

Now for some updates on what I’m doing professionally.

Two of my author friends are reading Ram’s novella, FORBIDDEN MAGIC for story editing. One of them has said that she’s reading it now and it’s good. Well actually she said, “Jen, this is really good! You’re back!”  Which was super cool. For so long I was a little lost, but that’s another blog. I know her, and there will be revision suggestions, as well as suggestions from the other author-friend. Once I do that, I’ve lined up a copy editor and a format person as well. So far–it’s looking like April is doable.

I love this story.  Ram has so much depth to him, and it takes a really special woman to even begin to bring that out. And the heroine is different which makes it feel fresher to me. Both of them are special to me. And so are Linc and Eli, and all their stories are a bit interwoven. I can’t wait to get them all written.

And lastly, in between all this, I’m going back to work on the dragons. My synopsis is good, very solid (that’s according to my agent). But the chapters needed work. After all this time away, I looked it over yesterday and have a much clearer view, I think. Hopefully I can do that pretty quickly.

Of course, Broken Leg Boy comes first.  We’re entering a new phase now as he begins to working on walking. His recovery is long. More surgeries are very possible.  So we take each day as it comes and hope for the best.

I’m glad you treated yourself with the lava cake. You need to do that now and then. I rarely get dessert either – I’m usually full from dinner :) but we’re taking the daughter-in-law to The Chocolate Bar for her birthday dinner this Saturday so I know I’ll be indulging.
It sounds like BLB is coming along. It must be wonderful for him to be moving around and being able to go places. I hear you on all the work still to be done in his recovery but each step accomplished must make him very happy.
I’m so looking forward to Ram. You must be so thrilled to get such wonderful feedback. I think I’m really looking forward to spring now ;).
Dragons – can’t wait for them either!
Me – I have a crummy cold :(. Blaming it on the 23 yr old who had me babying him with his cold a week ago. Have to put the blame on some one don’t I :) ?

Good for you on the dessert splurge, Jen. And kudos to Wizard for being the instigator! Everything is more fun with an accomplice.

I know it’s much more work for you to self publish. So THANK YOU for continuing the Wing Slayers. I love dragons! I’ve had a fascination with them for more years than I prefer to think about. Can’t wait to hear more on your take on dragons!

My heart goes out to BLB. It will be a tough road, but I’m sure he’ll do well. I’ve been doing physical therapy since August for my back. It’s not fun, but it does work.

Chocolate Molten cake = the best. When I order dessert, this is the usual choice.
I will second Julie, thanks for working to get Ram’s story out there for your (and Ram’s) fans. While the series may not be a blockbuster to the rest of the world, your fans love the stories and the characters and we all appreciate your time to continue that world.
Can’t wail for Ram’s story or you new dragons.
    Good luck with BLB.

OMG, lava cake is amazing. Good thing you had Wizard there to share it with. Yay for getting back into the groove. I bet it feels great. Of course, BLB comes first, but I’m glad you’re finding time for yourself, too. :hugs:

You are an ebil-ebil witch, Jen! Now I’m craving molten chocolate/lava cake. And I have to bake cookies today for Lawyer Guy’s Bar Association committee meeting tomorrow. I’m thinking oatmeal chocolate chip. ;)

I, too, am thrilled you are continuing the Wing Slayer Hunters. It’s a wonderful world and you’ll just continue to get more fans coming into the fold. That said, I’m excited for the work on the dragons. REALLY looking forward to learning more!

Continued healing thoughts for BLB, you, Wiz, and the bros. And Bailey! ;) You guys are strong and have such love. BLB has no choice but to heal and heal well! So there. :D

Viki, aww, so sorry about the cold. Now is the 23 year old taking care of you while you’re sick?

I don’t think we have a Chocolate Bar around here. That sounds awesome! I hope you guys have a blast, and that you’re feeling better by then.

I always want dessert before dinner, but rarely after. Last night, we just wanted to relax a little bit.

BLB is very methodical about his recovery. And he has an awesome girlfriend. We take him over there and she brings him home, and I never worry when he’s with her.

Julie, back trouble is miserable, I’m glad P/T is helping. BLB has a strong will so I’m not worried about that. It’s just a matter of how much more damage he may have done. We’ll see.

So glad you love dragons! They are fascinating creatures. This world is complex and interwoven with Fae. It’s taken me a long time to get a real handle on it. But now I feel ready.

Labrat11, thanks on the self pub venture ( and thanks to Julie too)! I don’t know that I’ve enjoyed writing this much in a very long time. I just hope that readers love the story too :-)

B.E., I’m glad Wizard was there too. I have zero sense when it comes to something like the lava cake. I’d have eaten it all even if I was so stuffed I couldn’t move. There’s only a few things that tempt me like that–and I try not to have them in the house. But lately, I’ve had too much cake so I’m cutting back on that!

Oh Silver, I have this awesome recipe for chocolate chip cookies with blended oatmeal, grated chocolate and chocolate chips. But regular oatmeal chocolate chips sounds good too!

Crap, now I’m thinking about cookies :-)

Thanks so much on the dragons.

Thanks so much on BLB. As it happens, the two of us are going to pick up Bailey tomorrow and keep him for the weekend.

Jenn – Nope, no one takes care of mom when mom’s not well ;). Have to give the 23 yr old a break because he’s back at school where he belongs:).
Up until a couple months ago The Chocolate Bar was only in Cleveland and Buffalo. They just opened one in Texas. The menu is really cool because all the food items have chocolate associated with them in one way or another.

Julie – Glad to hear the P/T is working. I never understood back pain until I fell one day and couldn’t even get up. I really feel for those of you that suffer from it.

Silver – I want a cookie too :). If I weren’t dragging I’d go make a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip too.
