Weekend Roundup

We had a blast with Bailey Dog! He was a really good boy while he was visiting, but sadly, we had to take him back home last night.

Total bummer. I wanted to keep him forever.

The flaw in that plan, aside from the fact that he belongs to my middle son and loves him more than anything, is that I spent more time playing with Bailey than working.  Even worse–Broken Leg Boy would throw Bailey’s toys into my office. Then Bailey would run in and it was all over.  I would leave work to play again.

BLB found that vastly amusing. He’s evil like that. Much like his father, Wizard. Sigh.

I also got to go out and have lunch with a friend on Saturday. That was lovely.

I got one set of revision suggestions back on FORBIDDEN MAGIC–I’m very pleased with the work my awesome friend, Laura Wright, did on Ram’s novella. Now it’s up to me to figure out how to incorporate her suggestions. The second set of revision suggestions will be coming soon.  Then I’ll get it done and off to copy editing.

I have to say that I’ve been getting tremendous and very touching support from fans on this venture into self publishing. I wish I had to the words to describe what it means to me that readers love the Wing Slayer Hunter world as I do.  It makes me feel very lucky!

How was your weekend?

I’m sorry Bailey had to go home but it sounds like you had a great time while he was over. I can picture BLB throwing Bailey’s toys in your office. It such a son thing to do. The enjoyment they get out of thing like that is unreal.
I’m getting more and more anxious for FORBIDDEN MAGIC all the time. It must be so great to have Laura as a friend. Do you contribute/make suggestions to her work as well?
We didn’t go to the Chocolate Bar. I was still too messed up with this nasty cold. We’ve postponed it to next Saturday.

Yay for Bailey! Boo for having to take him home. And tell that naughty BLB that if he doesn’t let you work, you’re taking his crutches away. That’ll teach him. LOL

I can’t wait to read Forbidden Magic. I’m sure it’ll be awesome. And thank you for taking this step into the unknown of self-publishing. I hope you sell tons and show the publisher what they missed out on by dropping the series.

Over the weekend, I made the decision to set my UF aside and go back to work on a suspense I never quite finished. All the bones are there, they just need editing. Maybe by the time I work through this, I’ll love Djinnocide again. I’d like to just say: Anyone who thinks writing is easy should be kicked in the groin. Repeatedly. And that includes my former self. ;o)

Sounds like you had a wonderful, if unproductive, weekend. I love that BLB threw the toys into your office. It just has to be something in the Y chromosome. But, how much fun!

I spent the weekend swimming in the ocean of Girl Scout Cookie world. I won the Girl Scout cookie lottery and get to do it again next weekend! The excitement around here never fails.

Next lifetime I’m having boys. That way it’s RenMan who has to do all the extra-curricular activities. Not to mention, spend the formative years escorting children to the bathroom any time we any time we go out in public. So it shall be written, so it shall be done!

Busy Busy Busy, Sat all got hair cuts. Sat shopping and prep for 10 year old’s Birthday party on sunday. Sunday was great. 12 kids and the whole swiming pool at the local university to ourselves. It was fun my daughter felt so special and happy. I was truely worth all the planning and craziness me and hub went through to make it happen.

We don’t do big parties every year and this was her first really big one. Got to get the great memories in while we can. They grow so fast.

Yay for Bailey. Boo for BLB. No, no bad BLB! ;) I agree. It’s something in the Y chromosome. The Only NEVER did anything like that. Ever. *looks shifty-eyed* She was an angel. *koff* Really.

I spent the weekend clearing off a lot of the shows on the DVR. Which means I laid in bed and vegged out to my favorite shows. LOL I also did about 8 hours of website work for a new contest my RWA chapter is getting ready to roll out. I deserved mindless TV after that!

    Viki, get well soon!

BE, sometimes you just need to lay one WIP down and work on something different if that’s what your Muse is saying. Sometimes, a Muse actually knows what she’s doing. Sometimes. *swats at Iffy*

Julie, I don’t miss cookie sales. At. All. You are a good, good mother and deserve your favorite beverage and a hot bubble bath with Wing Slayers to attend your every wish.

Kat, happy birthday to little bit. Glad she had a great time and you and hubby survived!

Viki, I’m so sorry about your cold. I was hoping it would be better. Did you guys reschedule for next weekend?

Laura and I have been friends and critique partners for years and years. We trade pages all the time. She worked on the very beginning of this series and totally believed in it, as I did/do her Mark of the Vampire series. Laura is exactly as she seems–fun, friendly and very genuine.

I hope FORBIDDEN turns out as good as I want it to. I’m in no position to judge though :-)

B.E., BLB has way too much fun exploiting my weakness with Bailey Dog. I’d be annoyed if I didn’t enjoy Bailey so much :-)

Thanks of Forbidden Magic. It turns out this has been more fun and interesting than I imagined. The support has just stunned me.

LOLOL!!! I’m pretty sure i must have through writing would be easy at some point. I’ve noticed you tend to switched back and forth between projects after a period of time. I know a few writers who do that (including Silver) and it seems to really work for them. For me, I have to make myself push through. Except that I did set my two proposals for NY Pubs aside to do this self publishing venture :-)

Julie, too funny on your plan to have boys next time! I think they are easier in some ways, but man, I did a TON of running them around. Wizard did too, though. So I guess it was just having three of them that kept us so busy.

Good luck on the Girl Scout cookies! I have a few mom-friends currently doing that. Good times!

Oh and I’m sure it’s the Y chromosome in BLB. He thinks it’s vastly entertaining that I can concentrate through most anything, but Bailey. You sure you want boys next time? Really? LOL!

Kat, that sounds like an awesome party that she’ll always remember! Bet you’re tired today though :-)

Silver! I’ve done a tiny, little bit of website work, after eight hours of that you deserved every second of mindless down time! It usually gives me a headache. Wizard has asked me why I don’t take classes and do designing etc. I almost smacked him :-) I know enough to know how inept I am at it, LOL! Kudos to you!

Only must have been the absolute perfect child…I totally believe that. Totally. LOL!

Thanks Jen and Silver for the get wells. I think I’m finally making it into recovery mode. Hubs says that ever since I had cancer even the littlest things hit me harder than they ever did before.

As for Cassie’s birthday dinner at The Chocolate Bar, it will be next Saturday.

Julie I had three boys and it really is just as bad as girls :). Mom still has to take them to the potty and mom also gets to do the boyscout popcorn sale :). All in all we moms deserve lots of kudos. Good luck next weekend with more cookies.

Viki, I imagine your husband is right. I have a repressed immune system, so I can sympathize. On the other hand, I know of two people who are pretty sick with a cold right now. Apparently, it’s a nasty virus going around.
