Weekend Roundup

I had a great weekend! First, I finished revising FORBIDDEN MAGIC, and now I’m just doing straight editing before sending it off to the copy editor. That freed up my weekend for some fun.

My idea of fun often includes chocolate.  So on Saturday Broken Leg Boy and I made these cupcakes. They are low fat, and so awesome! Okay maybe even more awesome because I cheated and added some chocolate chunks, but even without those, they are really good. I don’t think they even need the icing.

Wizard and BLB both agree, the cupcakes are a hit.

Saturday night, BLB was bugging about something, I can’t remember what.  Responding in my usual mature mom way, I threatened to take his crutches away.

A few minutes later I was quietly reading and not bothering anyone, when I get a text from Biker Witch (she’s my sister and BLB’s aunt) YELLING at me for threatening to take away BLB’s crutches.

Obviously I should have taken away BLB’s  phone so he couldn’t text Biker Witch, and the two of them gang up on me!

On Sunday, BLB and I went to have coffee with Biker Witch, where they continued to pick on me, but I managed to courageously  endure it. Then we hit a few stores and ended up at–where else? A book store!

Mostly it was a fun, easy going weekend. And since this next month is going to be super busy, I really appreciated it.

How was your weekend?

YUM! The cupcakes look and sound so good. I think I’ll bake something later today. Both boys will be here for pepperoni bread tonight so I know they’ll be happy with a treat.

Sounds like you had a great weekend even though they ganged up on you :).

We took Cassie out for her birthday dinner Sat night at The Chocolate Bar. Once again it was a big hit. I can’t get over how yummy their chocolate is – and it’s in everything :). Hubs asked me the share a chocolate pyramid with him. I just couldn’t refuse ;).

Yesterday hubs and I went to my girlfriends daughters horse barn. John likes to give the horses carrots. There was the sweetest pony popping her head out of her stall. She got extra carrots :).

Made an eye of round roast for dinner and the youngest son ate 1/2 of it, where does he put it. Honestly he ate over 1 1/2 #’s of meat. I’d be so sick.

All in all a good weekend :).

Sounds like you had a nice weekend, Jen. Good. You deserve it. Way to go on finishing those revisions! And those cupcakes sound awesome. =o)

My weekend was such a blah blur. I don’t remember doing much of anything. I know I read a lot. Inhaled A Million Suns by Beth Revis. Started Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. According to Goodreads, I’m two books ahead of my goal, so that’s something.

The cupcakes sound delicious, Jen! I’m glad you had a fun weekend.

Viki– I so envy you the chocolate bar. I really could have used large doses of chocolate.

Actually, what I really needed was chocolate and appletinis or margaritas. I’m not picky. It was a very busy, stressful weekend. I had more cookie booth sales which meant more trips to the warehouse. While I was getting ready for round one on Friday, RenMan calls and asks if I can put together a group of Girl Scouts to do a flag raising at the opening/ dedication of our city’s new community center Saturday morning. It doesnt sound like much, but try to get 6 girls at last minute who can do both a practice session the same day and be available the next morning. :-D

It all pulled together, but it was an exhausting weekend!

Viki, so glad you’re feeling better and were able to go! Sounds like my kind of place. Maybe one will open in So Cal.

I love horses, I’m jealous you got to feed them carrots.

Isn’t it amazing what our boys can put away? It’s my youngest that can really eat when he’s hungry, yet he rarely ever eats between meals. But still a pound and a half of roast? That’s impressive!

B.E., you are so good about making time to read. I’m working on it and getting better.

Julie, I”m exhausted just reading about your weekend! And yes, I know how hard it can be to coordinate a group of six people, no matter what sex or age :-) But it was lovely of you to do it.

I was really surprised how good the cupcakes are, considering there’s no fat in them. Well there was fat from the chocolate chunks I added, but even without those, they are very good.

Wow! Everyone was so busy! I cleaned house. Read. Tried a new Italian place Saturday night. Good stuff! Celebrated my “formal” birthday dinner with the whole family last night at a new “fusion” restaurant on the other side of the metroplex. It’s well worth the 30 drive to get there. Wonderful mix of interesting foods presented in beautiful fashion. I even got the molten chocolate cake for my birthday treat–vanilla bean ice cream and thickened cream with rasberry and chocolate sauce swirls. It was delicious but I really wanted the coconut bread pudding with margarita sauce. I’ve been there twice and they’ve been sold out of it both times. :( Ah, well. A good excuse to go back, right?!?

Glad the edits are done, Jen. Now to the next stage of getting FORBIDDEN MAGIC into our grubby little hands. Yay! :D Oh, and *pbthhhh* on Biker Witch and BLB. What a wuss that he had to tattle to his auntie. Ha! ;)

Those cupcakes look awesome. I need to enter that recipe into my WW online.

My weekend was good. Went grocery shopping, tried to catch up on Castle (did it), Person of Interest (not quite) and still a season behind on Desperate Housewives (not even close).

Worked on my cross-stitch project and hung out with my family. It was good.

Yay on the FORBIDDEN MAGIC edits! I can’t wait to read it :)

And I agree w/ Silver on BLB and BW. I’m sure whatever he did, he deserved it. In fact, you probably should have carried out the threat :)

I didn’t do much of anything this weekend. I went out to dinner w/ the parents on Friday. We went to a local restaurant that just reopened about a month ago after having been closed due to a fire. It was packed! But totally worth it. The food’s good and so’s the service. Other than that, I mostly played games and read. I read Allison Pang’s A SLIVER OF SHADOW and Nalini Singh’s ANGEL’S FLIGHT. I still have way too many books in my TBR pile, with more coming out tomorrow! *sigh* One of these days, I’ll actually get caught up.

Silver that must be an amazing dessert to have been sold out twice like that! I’m not a coconut fan, but it doesn’t sound interesting. The raspberry chocolate molten cake made my mouth water. Hope you enjoyed your birthday celebration!

BLB and Biker Witch are trouble together :-)

I’m hoping to get the book to the copy editor this week. Really hoping she doesn’t find massive problems, but if she does, I’ll fix them.

Erika, sounds like you did have a nice weekend!

I miss my WW online. I let it go once I became a life time member.

Dawn, that’s so cool that the restaurant has a successful reopening after a fire. I like hearing that!

Having too many books to read is a good kind of problem :-)
