Weekend Roundup

Busy! In a good way, though. The two main things I did:

I finished the dragon proposal and sent that off to my agent.

I ran into a scheduling snafu with Ram’s novella,  FORBIDDEN MAGIC.  I worked that out (I hope!), rescheduled everything, and the plan is to publish  it on or around April 15th.

Broken Leg Boy and I made Hungry Girl Lava Cakes too. We are having fun doing a “lighter” dessert recipe once every week or two. The Lava Cakes were a big hit. They are definitely lighter in taste, but enjoyable.

I even did a little reading.

How was your weekend?

Yum! Hungry Girl Lava Cakes sound so good :).

Sounds like you had a busy but fruitful weekend. I’m very happy that Ram is still expected to arrive the end of April :).

The only thing out of the ordinary this weekend for me was going out looking for a pair of sandals. I just can’t find anything I like. The ones I like are all on 2+ heels. That is not a sandal in my mind.

Oh well, let’s all have a great week!

The Lava Cake sounds awesome, Jen. Yay for the proposal and Boo for the scheduling problems. I hope everything works out on both of those. =o)

I made lemon bread this weekend. I picked up a bag of Meyer lemons to see what they were like and now I have all these lemons, so I tried using them in my standard lemon bread recipe. It turned out pretty awesome. (I don’t even want to think about the calories on that, though.) Other than that, not much going on over here. But we were hoping for a nice calm weekend -with no more fires.

So what is Ram’s favorite dessert? I can make it for him on the 16th to celabrate his book.

I know he likes cookies. I had to hide a stash of my last Girl Scout Cookies in the Laundry room. That way the rest of the family will not find them and I can have them while I read (I mean wash the mountians of clothes that I have to do).

I have been reading the Posiden Warrior series by Alysa Day. I am getting rather disappointed in the Male heroes of the series. They are all blending together- to much the same- no real distingishing personalitys form one another. I will finish the series but I am really looking forward to April

Viki, I feel your sandal pain. Hope you can find something soon! I haven’t even tried yet.

The lava cake was pretty good. Wizard’s bugging me to make more :-)

B.E., the fires are out, right?

Weird, but I was just thinking about lemon lava cake (wondering if I could convert the recipe I had to lemon) but your lemon bread sounds so good too. Really good as a matter of fact!

Kat, Ram loves Cookie Witch Cookies. Snickerdoodle is one of his faves (I don’t really get that, but whatever). But I *know* he’d love anything you make :-) And of course, he likes Girls Scout Cookies.

I hate when I get disappointed like that in a series I’m reading. (Never mind how worried I get about doing that in what I’m writing!) But it might get better.

And thank you all for being so supportive on Ram!

Of course Ram loves Snickerdoodles–the ones the size of his hand, soft, and flavored with almond extract, then rolled cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg before baking. They’re my specialty. ;) I’ll back a batch for his debut!

Yay on getting the dragons “put to bed.” I hope Ms. Agent and potential editors fall in love!

I didn’t do much this weekend. Lawyer Guy is sick so we were pretty low-key. I did some work and caught up on some stuff on the DVR and reading. I’m really sad that the last few books I read were just so-so. I need some Wingslayer magic to spice up my Fire! Have a great week, witches!

Ummmm, those lava cakes sound really yummy. I just bought the Ghirardelli Chocolate Cookbook. It has a recipe for Molten Lave Cakes that I want to try. (Nothing light about these though :) )

Well Friday, I decided to try making a version of this dessert I love from Carrabba’s. It’s a brownie brushed w/ Kahlua, w/ chocolate mousse and whipped cream and drizzled w/ chocolate sauce. It’s amazing. So I decided I could probably make something that tasted similar. I started it on Friday and finished putting it together on Saturday. I must say, I think I did a damn fine job and will definitely be making it again. Esp. since it’s all gone already  Friday night, I went to see the local minor league hockey team play w/ my former boss and her two boys. The boys did nothing but fight on the way to the arena, which irratated Boss Lady. Other than that, we had a really good time, despite the home team losing the game. Other than that, I read some of the books that were on my TBR pile.

Snickerdoodles? Really, Ram? I don’t get that either, Jen.

It sounds like you all had better weekends than I did. I spent Saturday running thengirls to their events and then pulling weeds out of the lawn. Somehow we ended up with a yard full of nasty weeds.

Then Sunday I did more Girl Scout stuff. I did manage to get a little reading in, though.

Snickerdoodles, huh….not sure I get that either.

They had the fires out within a couple days, I think. Thanks for asking. If you want, I can send you the lemon bread recipe. Like I said, it’s not low-cal, but maybe you can find a way to tweak it.

Silver, really hope lawyer guy is feeling better now.

I’m sure Ram would love your snickerdoodles! They sound heavenly.

So so books make me sad too. Hope you find a un-put-downable book soon! And thanks for believing in the Wingslayers :-)

Dawn, oh dang, your dessert sounds sinful! You must have done a great job on it!

LOL On your boys. I can’t help but laugh-in-sympathy since I have three of them. Glad the rest of the night was fun in spite of your team losing.

I know on Ram and snickerdoodles. The boys take their cookies very seriously and there’s just no reasoning with them.

Julie, you made me tired just reading about running around and pulling weeds–two of my least fave things. At least you got to read a bit!

B.E., I’d love the recipe, thank you! I’ll save it for when I have some family over who LOVE lemon. Then I won’t eat it all myself :-)

It’s on its way to you, Jen. If any of the other witches wants a copy, drop me a note and I’ll shoot it over. =o)
