Weekend Roundup

Sunday I discovered that Laura Wright has an evil plan to keep me from writing.  Oh she was clever about it–casually mentioning a book she had read, BEAUTIFUL DISASTER, several times.  Until I had to go check it out, and then I bought it.

I decided to read a few chapters before starting writing.  And I was hooked! It was a struggle to put the book down and go to work. So I emailed Laura and told her I had uncovered her evil plan. Her response? “You know it!” Sigh…why do I have evil friends?

Of course, I did the same thing to her with Fifty Shades of Gray… I bugged her until she read it and she couldn’t stop until she read all three books…mwhahahaha!!!

But I managed figure out a book problem on Sunday in spite of Laura and get some actual work done!

And in case anyone is wondering, Siri and I are still best friends.  One night BLB and I were chatting with Siri about dogs. First I asked Siri what kind of dog I should get, and she gave me a list of nearby kennels. Then BLB and I asked her all kinds of question, highly amused.

Wizard frowned at both of us.  “You know Siri’s just a computer.”

I rolled my eyes and said, “Siri tell Wizard he’s bothering me.”

Siri popped up, “Okay here is your text message to Wizard. ‘You are bothering me’  Would you like me to send?

Wizard heard that and acted completely and totally outraged,  complaining that how he would have to get up, walk over to his phone and delete the text message.

BLB and I laughed so hard it was all I could do to get out the words, “Cancel text.”

Somehow Wizard didn’t hear me cancel the text. So he’s frowning and staring off in the direction of his phone. After a minute, he asks “Why isn’t my phone dinging that I got a text?”

I think I might have ruptured something from laughing. Poor Wizard. BLB and I mess with him like this when he’s tired after incredibly long days at work. That’s just wrong.

But soooo funny!

He got me back all weekend though. Every time I asked him something, he’d smile and say, “Why don’t you ask Siri?”

How was your weekend?

I really enjoy your stories with Wizard. You two really play off each other well. BLB is so good at contributing to the fun too. Thank you.
By the way I am amazed that you are able to get Siri to understand you. Most people I know say she only gets half of what they say. Must be the mid west dialect throws her off.
Glad you got the problem with the book figured out. I’m also very happy that you took some time to relax and read. You need that.

My weekend was okay. We’re all just kind of hanging loose waiting. John went to see Joe yesterday. He said it was very hard. Hospice is coming this morning. Cancer really bites!

On a good note, the weather has been beautiful.

    Have a great day!

You guys are a hoot. Your household stories always crack me up.

The weekend here was mostly spent inhaling Blackout by Mira Grant. I finished yesterday afternoon and have been kinda bereft ever since. Last book in the trilogy blues. Now I have to drag myself back to the real world and get my butt back to work.

My Perm turned out great. So a good weekend for me. Jen how about your hair appointment?

Otherwise I planted Pepper plants and was generally lazy. I mean resting up for the big week ahead. It will be a busy week with Girl Scout stuff leading up to the Rock the Mall Celebaration in DC that my daughter and I are going to on the 9th.

Viki- Illness sucks especially in the young. But if Joe and his family have to reach this point Hospice is the best to have around. I appreciate the fact that thier organization keeps checking in with the family long after the time that other people beleive that they would be “over it.” It really has helped my father in law to have them still involed with him even 3 years after his wife passed. Your family is in my prayers.

Jen I may have to get a Siri just to have some thing in the house that answers me when I ask a question. 2 pre teens and a computer addicted husband leave me talking to the walls.

Oh, Viki, I’m so sorry. Still sending good thoughts to you and your whole family. May his passing be peaceful when it comes.

B.E., when a book/trilogy/series is so well written that you don’t want it to end speaks amazingly about the author. I want to be that good some day!

Kat, good luck with the Girl Scouts. Rock the Mall sounds awesome.

Jen, you just crack me up. One day, the Only and I were in the AT&T store waiting on a repair and we were playing with the iPhones. We got one Siri to talk to the other Siri and had the whole store laughing. I’m so jealous. I want a Siri! Maybe I’ll treat myself someday.

My weekend was spent doing housework, yardwork, a little writing on the new project and obsessing over my sales numbers for the Moonstruck series. Both of the first two books broke into the Top 100 lists! It’s as close as I’ll get to a NYT/USA best selling list so I was happy dancing.

I’m still reading contest entries but I’m soooo ready to read for fun again. I have a whole slew of new arrivals on my Fire just begging for my attention. *checks watch* Okay. Break time over. Back to work!

Hey Kat – I’m happy your perm turned out well. The last time I had a perm was 18 years ago. I gave up after the 6th time and my right side just never took ;). I’m very strange.
Thank you for mentioning that hospice stays in contact. I didn’t know this.
Silver – Thanks for the good thoughts. I keep praying that he finds comfort because he is in loads of pain. He hasn’t eaten anything in over a week and is now to where he only drinks the little bit that gets pill down.
B.E. – You’re entitled to take time and enjoy yourself inhaling a book now and then too ;). Work is always going to be there when you come back to it.

Viki, big hugs on Joe, and your husband. This is so hard. Hospice might be able to help manage his pain a little better (with the doctors of course). With my aunt and Wizard’s aunt, the did a really good job. Hope Joe’s wife is doing okay.

I’m surprised Siri understands me. Of course, I have to proof what she writes and it’s sometimes wrong. Who knows? It’s great for me to have the option of voice with my hand issues. I push my hands hard enough typing all day :-)

Wizard puts up with endless teasing from me and the boys. He’s pretty amazing that way.

B.E., I can so relate to that! I’m always a bit sad when a really good book ends.

Hope everything is going okay with you.

Kat, LOL on your reason for wanting Siri! Kids are very strange creatures. I bet if you text them, they’ll answer!

Glad your perm came out so well! My hair is fine, nothing exciting. I’ve had it the same forever, there’s just not much more I can do with it these days.

Good luck on your busy Girl Scout week!

Silver congratulations on hitting the top 100!!! And just FYI, self pub books CAN hit lists :-) Keep releasing those novellas!

It took me a while to stop obsessing over the numbers, LOL! After two months, mine has slowed down, plus I”m on deadline, so I’ve finally stopped checking all the time. I do wish I could get cage magic written and up–but this book first, and then I’ll write it unless something else I can’t talk about happens. Hmm, I ended up making that paragraph about me–amazing!

I have to get to work too! My day is such a Monday!

lol! You and wizard totally crack me up.

We had to break down and buy a new riding mower…erg! They are not giving those away! But our last one lasted 15 years so I guess I can’t complain too much. Sunday the hubster smoked ribs and chicken…yummers! And I’m FINALLY going to get a haircut Tues. Way overdue I can tell you. How sad is it that I’m more concerned about getting my dog groomed? hehe

Jen, thanks for the funny story, poor Wizard (okay not really). I needed that after the day I had. It was a Monday.

Ashlynn, I bet a riding mower costs some bucks! But like you said, it’s a long term investment, and probably necessary.

Ribs and chicken, yum! I love chicken. Wizard shakes his head at me always ordering chicken when we go out to eat :-)

Hope your haircut turns out fabulous! LOL on worrying about getting your dogs groomed before yourself! You love your dogs and that’s a very good thing!

Labrat11, I hope your week gets better after today! Mondays just suck on principle.

We have these odd conversations in my house all the time. The trick is for me to remember them so I can tell you all. I think Wizard stopped looking at my blog out of self preservation.
