Weekend Roundup

Great weekend and a nice Father’s Day for Wizard! But I’m eating too much.  And FYI–freezing home made chocolate dipped peanut butter balls just makes them BETTER! They are really good frozen. Don’t try this at home unless you’re trying to gain weight :-)  I’m worried I’m sliding into my old bad habits and really going to try to get better control this week.

For a very long time I’ve been having headaches that make me miserable, occasionally wake me up at night and often screw with my vision. I’m starting to think I might have to do something about them. I don’t understand why my duel method of Ignore and Deny seems to be failing. First though, I’m going  to see  my eye doc and getting a new prescription. Eye strain could be part of it for sure. Then  I’m going to try to wait to see my RA doc on the headaches as my GP isn’t the brightest bulb out there. (Just trust me on this–it’s true and very scary). I will be changing GPs once I get BLB all taken care of.

So I’m more than 3/4s done with draft of the contemporary. This is the part where I look down and realize, “Wow, it’s actually coming together in a raw, unpolished way.” I swear to you, I’m shocked Every Single Time I actually realize I might pull off the book I’m writing.  I’m not exactly sure how I’ll bring the last 50 – 60 pages together, but it seems POSSIBLE now.  I’m going to try hard today and tomorrow to map out and write as much as I can before BLB’s surgery on Wednesday.

How was your weekend?

I’m glad Wizard had a nice Father’s Day. You kill me with the peanut butter balls ;). They sound yummy.

It’s it strange how we all try that ignore and deny tactic but it never seems to work. Don’t mess around with the headaches. They can cause all kinds of other problems just by the stress of having them. And there is no reason you should be in pain. Take care of you :).

The 23 yr old got in around 1:30 PM from his drive the the Keys 10 days ago. He loved the Keys but had nothing good to say about Floridians and their horrid driving.

John’s Father’s Day was okay. He had time with all three boys and I made him his favorite stuffed cabbage. He also spent 2 hrs with Joe. John thinks he’ll be gone w/in the next 3 days. But he’s medicated and not in pain.

    Have a great day.

Oh – forgot to ask if they have BLB’s surgery time set yet? It’s on Wednesday right? I’ll be praying for him.

Glad you had a nice weekend and wonderful work on the book.

About the headaches. Maybe a switch in meds (if you take any for your RA)? I have lupus and before I was diagnosed I had horrible headaches, similar to what you are describing, for years. Once they got my meds straightned out, my headaches went away. On the other hand, I have had eye strain from reading too much in a day (yes, it is possible) so I suppose writing a book could do the same thing. Good luck.

I do not even want to know about the peanut butter balls. Like I need another calorific recipe hanging around the house. Bad enough I commanded Daughter to make me cookies on Saturday. (Chocolate peanut butter cake-mix cookies… omg).

Sorry about your headaches. Hopefully it’s just eye strain and some glasses will take care of the problem. :hugs: My thoughts will be with you all on Wednesday. Fingers crossed that the surgery works and the recovery time is short.

Have a great day yourself. =o)

Glad Wizard had a good Father’s Day. And you’re making me hungry w/ the choc. pb balls!

Sorry to hear about the headaches. I’ve had headaches like that. They seriously suck! Hope some new glasses get rid of them for you.

I’ll be in NYC and internet free starting Wednesday. So have a great week, witches! And good luck to BLB with the surgery. See you all next week!

One of the top ten weekends of my life. I spent it at a camp with my kids. I had volenteered to be the assistant cook at the camp and my son was the dishwasher. My daughter was participating in the camp activities. My son and I really bonded while we worked together. He worked so hard he recieved a lot of compliments from other parents at the camp that noticed how mature and responsible he is. My daughter did great away from me (I knew she would but getting her to go off on her own and be more independent was the challenge). Hey my son even said to another parent that I was “pretty cool”. :-D

I have a lot of good memories and feelings to bring back with me. I know that they are are going to help me through some tough times ahead.

Viki, that had to be tough Father’s Day for your husband. I’m sending my prayers for you all.

I’ll follow up on the headaches. A lot of it is sinus, some of it could be my meds. Not sure. My RA doc will know.

They will call us tomorrow to let us know what time BLB’s surgery is. I’m just rolling with this. It has to be done, so we deal with it.

Sounds like your son had a great time!

Labrat11, so sorry about you have lupus. It can be very hard to control, I’m hoping yours is manageable. I’m on a fair amount of meds so it could be part of it for sure. I’m thinking eye strain is part of it–a new prescription will probably help a great deal.

B.E., your cookies sound good too! I’m done for a while though. I’ve been slipping and I don’t want to do that. Wizard and BLB will have to eat the peanut butter balls.

    Thanks on BLB!

Kat, it sounds like a great trip! Those moments like yours with your son are priceless. And it’s great reinforcement for both of you when the other parents see his strong qualities and comment on them.

I’m hoping things will be leveling out for you at home.

Viki, praying that Joe’s passage is gentle. He’s surrounded by love and that helps so much.

I had chapter meeting Saturday, family dinner for the good Sis-in-Law’s b-day and Father’s Day, and yesterday was spent getting the final formatting done so I could upload HUNTER’S MOON so it’s live now at Amazon. And I got edits back on a novella for Wild Rose. Ugh. Lot’s of work.

Jen, I know you won’t mess around with the headaches. So don’t procrastinate! Here’s hoping BLB’s surgery is early on Wednesday. Sending good thoughts his way–and to you, Wiz, and his brothers! (And Bailey. ;) )

Also…uhm…TOLD YOU SO! I knew you’d get the book figured out and headed toward the end. :D

Great job on the book! Glad to hear it’s coming along well. I knew it would.

Sent a prayer for BLB surgery. And do take care of those headaches. Pain isn’t something I mess with, I want to nip it in the bud before it interferes with life. New perscription will surely help some.

Thank you Jenn and Silver. John had to leave for Houston this morning but stopped by to see Joe on the way to the airport. He called me after leaving Joe’s and I felt so bad for him. Joe can barely speak now and John thinks it’s the last day he’ll be able to make sound. It’s amazing but his mind is clear even with all the drugs. He’s fully aware that he could be gone tomorrow. I am thankful that he’s so medicated he’s no longer in pain. How I hate cancer!

Silver – Congratulations on getting Hunter’s Moon live on Amazon!

Silver, congratulations on getting HUNTER’S MOON up! I’ll buy is ASAP! I have the other two :-) And wow, you did while so busy this weekend too!

    Thanks on BLB.

I’ll deal with the headaches. My eye appt is Thursday, so that’s the first thing. I’ve had these for years, it’s just gotten suddenly worse. But I doubt it’s anything serious.

Today was a sucky writing day, but I think it’ll come together. I’m glad you were so sure, LOL!

Ashlynn, thanks. Writing books is all about faith when there’s nothing else to go on. And at some point, it pays off :-)

I will deal with the headaches, but it’s a process of elimination. And probably an x-ray, but I can get my RA doc to order that when I see him again.
