Weekend Roundup

One evening last week, me, Wizard BLB and Bailey were sitting around watching TV. Bailey jumped on Wizard’s lap.  Wizard was petting him when he looked up and said, “This is the longest Bailey has ever been here. When is he going home?”

“He is home. He lives here now,” I said.

Wizard frowned, looked at BLB then me, and said, “You’re lying.”

“You sure? I mean look around,”  I waved my hand at the family room filled with dog toys and assorted stuff. It looked like a pet store threw up in there.

Wizard stared at me.  “He can’t live here, witch.”

I shrugged. “Looks like he is. But feel free to take him back to the boys’ house. He can visit them for awhile.”

Wizard heaved a big sigh. “Why do you mess with me?”

Because it’s so much fun! However, yesterday, BLB and I took Bailey home to his other house.  Now I’m home writing this blog and missing Bailey! And I know once Wizard gets home, he’s going to grumble about missing “the stupid dog” too.

Otherwise, my weekend has been fine. I’m starting the revising process on my manuscript. I’ve learned that I apparently like torturing heroes whether they are in the paranormal or contemporary genre. That may not be part of my personality I want to brag about, LOL!

Today (Monday) I’m taking BLB to get his stitches out. I suspect he’ll be cleared to drive. But now reality is setting in, and it’s coming time for some hard decisions to help BLB secure a future.  However, at least he has a future so there is a lot to be grateful for.

How was your weekend?

How funny. You sound like you got Wizard. But it’s true, Bailey does live at your house, when he’s there ;).

I really hope all goes well today for BLB. Like you said – he has a future, thank God.

Rest assured that we all love the tortured hero in all genres too.

The weekend here was slow. We had the wake Thurs. and the service Fri. So I think we all just needed to take time within ourselves.

    Have a great day.

Oh you guys. You crack me up. I follow a facebook page called The Daily Puppy – and a couple weeks ago I saw a dog that would’ve made a perfect playmate for Bailey. Too bad he was in Oklahoma and you’re not ready for a furbaby yet. Yay for starting those revisions and for BLB getting those stitches out. I’m sure he’ll find the right path for his future with you two to guide him.

I got lost in a book yesterday, so it pretty much shot out my plans for getting anything else done. Saturday was a blur. I feel like asking if we had a weekend at all. Where’d my weekend go? :pout:

Life is not easy and it is even harder to watch some one you love go through it and not be able to take it all away.

We are part of the east coast power outages. May be back on on thursday. Ram would be impressed with my survial skills. My kids are not taking it well and they hate it that I tell them that they need to look at the situation as a challenge and come up with solutions rather than sit around and grumble about what they can’t change.

I remind them of our family moto “Improvise adjust adapt overcome. ”

And what my grandmother always told me “If you can’t change your situation than change your additude”

My answer for how are you today is “I am worse off than some and better off than most.”

Wizard is starting to come around. He will miss Bailey! Yay, on getting stitches out. The alternative for BLB is beyond thinking! He has a future and one that can have a very positive outcome. Being cleared to drive will be a huge step for him.

Yay on revisions. I’ve got to finish mine up today on the contemporary novella so I can get back to torturing Sean. I keep telling the Wolf that him breathing down my neck doesn’t advance his case!

Our weather is typical. Hot and dry. But we’re used to it and have AC. For those without power, you can hang wet (but not dripping ‘cuz bad for floors!) sheets in the windows. Any breeze blowing through will feel cooler. If you have power but no AC, put a pan of water in front of your fans. This, too, helps cool the air. Yeah, I’m older than dirt and remember life before AC. I have theories about why people have more trouble with the heat now than we did then but it’s Monday and not time for thinking deep thoughts. ;)

Stay cool if you can! Crossing fingers for good news on BLB.

Oh Kat – I’m sorry about you having to deal with this horrid heat w/o power. We went two 4th of July’s in a row with 3/4 days no power when we first moved out to the sorta country 15 yrs ago. My husband knew that if I had to live w/o a toilet (no well when there is no power) again I would kill him, so we have a whole house generator ;).
Your Grandma sounds like mine :). Heck, they lived through “really” tough times and seemed to prosper. So I guess they knew what they were talking about.

Viki, I’m so sorry you’re all going through this tough time. You’re wise to realize it just takes time to copy with the loss and understand the future without your brother in law. I’m sending all my best wishes that each of you you finds the peace and strength you need.

The doc appt was exactly what we expected, so we’ll keep going. BLB will keep at the aggressive physical therapy. We’ll see the doc again in six weeks and re-evaluate.

In the meantime, I must write :-)

B.E., I go to The Daily Puppy website–love it! Always makes me smile!

Wizard misses Bailey! I know he’ll really miss him when the dog’s not here to greet him when he gets home from work.

That’s great that you got lost in a book :-) We all deserve an escape now and again.

Kat, that power being out during a heat wave is awful! We at least have the pool. As long as it’s not violently windy or thunder-storming, we use it to cool down when the power is out. I hope it comes on sooner than you expect!

Your kids are being kids :-) But you are teaching them important life lessons that will stick with them. It amazes me how my kids truly are capable and competent adults now. There were times when I wondered how they’d survive.

Silver, hope you’re racing through the novella so you can get back to the werewolf!

Umm, if they don’t have power, they might not be able to run fans unless they have a generator. But those are great tips!

Stitched are out for BLB. That was easy, he didn’t even feel it. There’s always something to be grateful for, LOL! The wounds are small (but deep), and closed nicely. Another good thing, he can down submerge his leg in water.

Let’s face it, Jenn! If you can’t torture your heroes, what’s the meaning in them being, well, heroes? They have to have some sort of problem to fix otherwise they’re just strange people with perfect lives! :-P
