Weekend Roundup

It’s been HOT! Perfect pool weather :-)

I’m finally making some progress again on CAGE MAGIC. I think.  A friend and I were talking about our crazy-ass process of writing.  It’s hair pulling frustrating, insomnia inducing stressful, and yet it’s so addictive.

Now let’s talk about distractions :-) One day last week I was writing and got a text from BLB’s girlfriend. The text looked like this:

With the words: “Can BLB have him?”

I answered back, “Forget BLB, I want him!”

But that didn’t happen.  Of course,  now I think about this puppy all the time. And when I showed the picture to Wizard, he actually said, “I like him.”

I’m pretty sure that puppy is gone though, so I’ll just keep my focus on writing :-)

How was your weekend?

When I saw the weather map this weekend I thought of you and was happy you have a pool. My how it is out out your way. When it was in the upper 90’s to 101 here I thought I’d die. You have it way to hot for me ;).

That puppy is so sweet looking. The face says take me all over it. You are best to focus on your work because you’re mostly likely right that he is gone. A guy that cute gets a good home quick.

    Have a great day!

    Awwww puppy!

Sorry. I’m easily distracted by cute puppies. (And other things. Many many other things.) I almost sent you a link to a dog on The Daily Puppy who needed a good home. But I don’t want to be presumptuous.

Focusing on the writing is a good thing. I got distracted from my WIP this weekend, but it was by tweaking on the synopsis for the book I’m getting ready to query, so losing my focus isn’t as bad as usual. Got a 4 pg synopsis trimmed down to 2 pgs, so it’s all good. Just a few more passes and it should be good to go.

Our 10year old border Collie past on friday. Sparky was a black and white collie with ice blue eyes and a lot of spunk. He went in his sleep sometime during his Friday afternoon nap under the apple trees in the yard. The kids were suprised and upset. My husband asked on Suday if I was ready for a puppy. I told him no, but if that little guy was close to me I would have changed my mind. Too Cute….

Otherwise the weekend got away from me. Running around to get stuff to do stuff and not getting anything done.

Oh, Kat! I’m so sorry about Sparky. Losing a long-time pet is like losing family. Sounds like he passed peacefully and in a place he was comfortable and loved.

B.E., WTG on the trimming! I hate writing synopses. Even more than writing query letters. Ugh. But the “business” side of writing has to be done.

Viki, I’d trade for some 95 degree weather right now. I’d even settle for our 100+ if we got some rain! So dry and crispy around here. I wish I had Jen’s pool, too!

Congrats on the writing focus, Jen! But that puppy!!??!! Are you sure you don’t want to check to see if he’s still there? He could be stuck in that awful cage–scared and lonely and hoping for a forever home…

I’ll be good. You and Wiz aren’t ready to be puppy parents yet so I’ll stop nagging. I need to focus on my own writing. I have a really cool character but the plot sort of evolved with no place for her. I’m tucking her away for possible inclusion in the next book. I need to get off the net and get into some serious writing sprints today.

It’s Monday, witches. Hang in there! (And pass the appletinis!)

Oh Kat I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It’s nice that he went under the apple tree. I had one collie that went down to the beach laid her face on her paws with waves coming in. I always like to think she passed in her happy place.

Silver – we finally got some rain after months of nothing. It was such a relief. I pray you get some rain soon.

Viki, I’m with you on the heat except that I do enjoy the pool when it’s hot out.

That puppy is so darling, but life really is too complicated right now.

B.E., that’s great news! Tightening a synopsis is hard, and you did it! Sounds like you’re just about ready to send out your proposals.

I have the Daily Puppy link, but thanks anyway! I love looking at them, but I know I can’t do a dog right now. Besides, we have Bailey who loves to visit :-)

I’m wishing you luck and magic on your proposal!

Oh, Kat, I am so sorry. Losing a pet is heartbreaking. Ten years of memories will get you through, but right now, it’s just so painful. Plus your kids are suffering so that’s double pain for you.

I think you are very wise to wait a little bit on a puppy. This is the time to remember Sparky and all he brought to your lives. You’ll know when you and the family are ready.

Sheesh, I feel bad putting up a puppy pic today of all days.

Silver you are such a puppy enabler, LOL! After BLB’s dr appt today I realize even more that now is not the time.

I get those characters too! I try to let them sit until the plot or premise arrives. When I try to force it–the result never works, darn it! Good luck!

Hope you get some rain soon. It’s brutally dry in your part of the country.

Hiya Jen! I don’t know what I would do without my puppers. I would be totally lost. But I understand sometimes it just isn’t the right time. It will be one day for you, girl.

And hot…we FINALLY got some cooler weather. After being 110+ for a month, 95 felt heavenly. But we need rain. Not far from here fires destroyed over 300 homes. :( So sad.

Glad you are back to working and hoping your boy is doing well.

Ashlynn, so true on dogs! But I do have Bailey part time, so that’s probably perfect for me. And I can see him anytime I want to-the boys are super generous that way.

So awful about the homes destroyed in the fires. I can’t imagine what those families are going through.

Thanks on my son :-) Hope all is well with you!
