Winner and Wing Slayer Worthy

Thank  you all for participating in the Rock*It Reads Heating Up the Holidays Blog Hop! It was a blast to read all the comments and see which hunk each of you chose! All of us at Rock*It Reads are committed to bringing the very best to our readers both in our traditional and Indie (self pubbed) books.

And now for the winner of the $15.00 electronic gift card from either Barnes and Noble or Amazon, chosen by Random.org, it is:

Comment # 14, HEATHER COULTER! Congrats Heather! Please email me at Jenniferlyonbooks AT gmail.com stating your choice of Amazon or B&N and the email you’d like the electronic gift card sent too.

Lastly, since the link on the right side of my blog is broken,  anyone looking for my FB fanpage, can find it here. Please go “like” it if you are so inclined! My assistant, the Lovely and Long Suffering Carla, is working on a new banner right now. We should have it next week. Soon we’ll have more contests and fun going on there.

And now back to our regularly scheduled blog :-)

I missed you all! It is weird to skip a Monday where I get caught up on your weekends. I can’t even remember my weekend.  But now it’s time for our Wing Slayer Worthy Candidate.

Just FYI he’s  a little naughty today…maybe he’s more rogue than hunter…

So what do you think? Wing Slayer Worthy?

Quick note: my Internet is being a little hinky. Verizon is on a mission to force us into FIOS (I know this because they called and told me I HAD to switch), and I’m not interested. We’ll see who caves first. If they keep this crap up, I may just switch over to cable Internet.  So if I’m not answering, it’s because I’m having trouble staying connected.

Rock It Reads HEATING UP THE HOLIDAYS Blog Hop!

Blog Hop

Welcome to the Rock*It Reads Heating Up the Holidays Blog Hop. There are 15 stops on the blog tour. The more blogs you visit and comment on, the greater your chances of winning the grand prize, a $75 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble or Amazon, and a huge collection of books from the authors of Rock*It Reads. Smaller prizes will be available at each stop along the way.

Good luck, and have fun!

For a chance to win a $15.00  electronic gift card from winner’s choice of Amazon or B&N, let’s play Guess The Hero from this quick excerpt:

From THE PROPOSITION by Jennifer Lyon, to be released end of February 2013

His gaze traveled a leisurely pace over her face, down her throat, all the way to her athletic shoes.

It felt like he was visually peeling off her clothes as he went. Kat jerked her tool box up and wrapped her arms around it to get something solid between them.

Then he raised his stare back to her face. “Do I know you?”

His voice had a silky bite to it, and his words completely surprised her. She couldn’t imagine having met him and forgotten. Some things may have been wiped from her memory, but him? No one would forget a man that vital. This close, she saw that he had a scar slashing through his left eyebrow, and another bracketed the right side of his harsh mouth. He wasn’t classically handsome, more like savagely beautiful.

Answer him!

“No.”

Lowering his chin slightly, he regarded her beneath his arched brows. “And if I want to know you?”

Here are your three choices of heroes:

Hero Number 1

Hero Number 2

Hero Number 3

Okay, take a guess! Leave your answer in the comments. Remember there are no wrong guesses! I’ll announced the winner here on this blog on Wednesday.

Happy Friday!

Just to let you on know, all Rock it Reads gals are hosting a blog hop November 11th through the 13th. Here’s the link and I’ll have my post up this Sunday, and it will stay up through Tuesday. There will be prizes! Come visit us!

But that does mean I won’t have my regular post on Monday. However I will be back on Wednesday with Wing Slayer Worthy :-)

I’m working on PROPOSITION to get it ready to send the the editor next week. (Love her so far!) I’ve also been revising my Entangled book (coming out in March). It’s been a little crazy working on two books at once, but they are so different, I’ve been able to do it without too much trouble.

Today, however, I’m meeting Biker Witch for lunch.  It’ll be having a diet lunch for me, unfortunately.  I swear all this bakery research is not good for my weight :-) I have this recipe for double chocolate chip cookies sitting on my desk. I should shred it.

Except I could find it again in about four seconds.

But I’m not making them. I’M NOT!

This weekend, I may go to my chapter meeting of RWA. Best selling author, Darynda Jones will be there, and I’d like to see her again. I met her this summer when we both appeared on a panel at RWA National Conference. Just depends how much work I have to do.

So what are your weekend plans?

Secret Project Reveal!

Today I’m announcing THE PLUS ONE CHRONICLES that I plan to begin self publishing at the end of February 2013. It’s a “serial” project, and will be released in installments.  The first one, as I said, will be released at the end of February, and the second one-to-two months after that, and the ones after that will be as quickly as I can write them, and get then professionally and brutally edited. To write WELL takes time.

My plan is to release them in electronic format at first. Then for each two serials I release, I plan to package them together into a trade-sized paperback, if I can do it cost effectively. That is the part I’m still not completely sure of yet, but very much want to do.

Here’s the thing, I love this project, I believe it in and so I am investing in it, including hiring a very experienced editor (she works for a well-know publisher, and I am thrilled to work with her on this!), and various other professionals that will help me make this Plus One Chronicles as strong as I can.

This project is a labor of love.  Many years ago I pitched a story to my then-editor, but she had a problem with the  heroine. You see, the heroine had a physical disability and my editor kept calling her crippled due to her slight limp. I want to clarify, this was a great editor, whom I both liked and respected immensely.  But I loved that heroine and knew that the editor and I simply didn’t have the same vision for her, so I pulled the project and turned down the contract offer.

It simply wasn’t the right time for that heroine’s book. I knew it in my gut, and I am so very glad now that I listened to my gut.

Then a few years later,  BLB (nickname for my son) had his accident. At first I didn’t see the similarity between that heroine and what my son was enduring, probably because I was so focused on BLB’s recovery. But as time went on, that heroine came back to me and this time, she wasn’t leaving.  In the years she has grown and changed (in my head) and now it is time for her story.

And she has a hero that is worthy of her, I think :-)

Now, here is the cover, designed by Patricia Schmitt

Here is the blurb:

THE PROPOSITION:

Rich, sexy and volatile, Sloane Michaels has a dark agenda that keeps his heart on ice. His extreme wealth gives him the control he craves and his skills as an ex UFC fighter the tools he’ll need to extract his ultimate revenge. But when the woman he never believed he’d see again crosses his path, Sloane is caught between the vengeance he needs and a sexual conquest he craves.

Kat Thayne has been in survival mode for six years, hiding behind the sweet creations for her bakery. But when a random carjacking brings her face-to-face with her darkest fears and hottest fantasy, Kat is forced out of hiding and offered a dangerously passionate proposition. One she knows she isn’t strong enough to refuse.

These stories will be a very sexy, no-holds-barred rendition of Kat and Sloane’s journey. I hope you all will come along for the ride.

Weekend Hel…I mean…Roundup

So..first, Wizard and I had fun Saturday night. We went to dinner at the beach, enjoyed lobster and molten lava cake.  It was pretty low key.

Sunday…nothing went right for either of us. I decided to get up on all my social media. I did Tweetdeck fine, updated a few things on Goodreads then turned my attention to Facebook and clearly went into destructive mode. I was trying to merge fanpages but lost my main page I need to control anything.

I know–you’re wondering how anyone can be that stupid, right? Yeah…me. Seriously. My assistant will quit once she finds out.  Poor thing is already struggling with Hurricane Sandy, she does not need Hurricane Jen the Witch.

Long story short, this is my fan page now: https://www.facebook.com/jennifer.lyon.92  I am going to have a banner made, etc. But that will take some time since, as mentioned,  my assistant has bigger problems right now.

Let me just say that I am not an FB fan these days.

And I want to thank the RockitReads assistant, Jess, she helped me fix it.   I spent hours trying to figure it out, and it took her no time at all to tell me how to do it, once I figured out to ask for help.

Then Wizard was changing doorknobs and locks.  Another long story and that ended in creative swearing that I found rather impressive.  Things went from bad to worse–all over doorknobs. It’s crazy.

Both of use ended the night with alcohol, pain relievers and we laughed at this pic:

Wednesday, I’m planning to announce the secret project.

Now how was YOUR weekend?

Happy Friday

Yesterday I was grumpy from mild sinuses, endless work and people not doing their freaking jobs. This Three Grump Moon pic from LOL Cats about sums it up:

But then I went here The Daily Puppy to get my dose of Happy

How can you look at the picture and not feel better?

This weekend Wizard and I are going out to celebrate our anniversary. Just dinner, we’re not doing anything big. But we’re going to our favorite place and really looking forward to it.

What are you doing?

Have a great weekend!
