Happy Friday! And A Question

I can’t believe it’s Friday already! What a week. I’m finally getting back to writing POSSESSION.  It’s very slow going right now, but it’ll pick up. I can feel it, I just need to have time to sink deep into the story. That’s one of the drawbacks of having so many projects going at once, there are constant interruptions.

In good news, my Entangled editor and I believe we’ve finalized the title on that book. It’s now THE BABY BARGAIN.  Writing category is such a new experience for me, both on the creative end and on the “packaging” end.  It’s seldom possible to capture the entire feel of a book in a title, so we have to focus in on the hooks.  I can’t wait to see what they do for a cover! The book should be out the first Monday of March.

My web designer will be redoing this Lyon site sometime in the next month.

My assistant, Carla, is setting up a blog tour and various things for The Plus One Chronicles, and both us are thrilled at the response. I’ll give out all the info once it’s set in stone.

Now I have a question for you all. Do you find the second book in a series often to be weaker than the first? If so, why do you think that is? I’d really like to know!

Have a great weekend! I’ll be working and hanging with Wizard, what about you?

Once again you’re going to be a busy bee this weekend ;).

I sometimes find the second book to be weaker but often they are right in track or even better. Joan Swan’s BLAZE for example is even better than FEVER and I thought FEVER was amazing. When the second book appears weaker I think it’s sort of like the second album, the artist thinks they have to do it but the passion really isn’t there. If the public decides they’re okay with the second the artist flows again and the third is as good a the first. I hope I made sense.

Thanks for all the great news and have a great weekend :).

Jen Take some time for yourself in all of this. 30 min to breath or an hour at the Gym will be worth it in the long run.

Even with the kids, the recovering husband and the weather this saturday I have planned to go and meet a friend for an hour at a Tea house near a local university.

Since I am a bargin book shopper I often get what is the 2nd or even the 3rd book in a series. If I like that book then I go looking for the rest of the series. Example Alexis Morgan’s Palidan Series. I actually read the 5th book first then the fourth book and only recently got the 3rd and the 8th. Then while bargin shopping I found the 1st. As long as each book can stand alone on its own story and not rely so much on the book before it and get my interest then it works. The question is does the 2nd, 3rd ect books make a reader want to read the 1st book with out having to have read the previous books to understand the one they are reading. Confused yet?

Damn, girl, you’re busy. Have Carla contact me when she gets an idea of available dates, so we can set you up on The Guide. I am going to be gone 2/20-27 moving my Kid to Michigan, but I’m scheduling blogs ahead of time for that week, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

I’m racking my brain, but I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced a second book being weaker. Usually I find each subsequent book in a series to be better than the last.

This weekend will be filled with super-sekrit personal stuff, reading and (I hope) writing. Since there’s no football, I’ll have more time to focus. Now I just need to make myself focus.

Viki thank YOU! That helped. Passion is everything in a project, especially when writing the first draft for me. I hate the first draft, in particular, the first part of the first draft.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Kat, not confused at all! I read out of order all the time, so I get it!

I’m very happy to hear you’re getting out this weekend to have tea with a friend. That’s exactly what I need to do. Wizard and I will go to dinner or something :-)

I’m keeping your husband and you in my thoughts. I hope he heals quickly, both physically and emotionally (there’s always an emotional toll).

BE., Carla is sending me the schedule this weekend, I think. Once I have that, then I’ll schedule something with you. I just don’t want to screw up the blog tour she’s putting together. I’m thinking the first week or two of March, maybe?

That’s interesting that you haven’t experience second book syndrome in reading. I’m probably just super conscious of it.

What’s the SS personal stuff? We’re allowed to have secrets here? Bummer! But good luck, whatever it is.

Hey let me know if you find the key to “focus” !!!

Sounds like you’re going to be busy for a while! Have fun hanging with Wizard this weekend. And I hope you have some Wizard stories to tell us on Monday :)

My only plans for the weekend are to read and watch hockey. (YAY! Hockey’s back!!!) My Red Wings are on tonight, so I’ll be in front of the TV tonight. Hopefully they do better than they did the last game I watched, which was the season opener. That game sucked!! It’s snowing here so it’s perfect weather for curling up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate, which is what I’ll be doing next :D

I don’t usually find the second book in a series to be weaker than the first. Most of the authors I read, or have read in the past, write great stories no matter how many books in a series they’ve written. I sometimes get bored with the series and quit reading it, though.

Happy Friday, witches! Hope you all have a great weekend :)

Well, my weekend will be mainly taking pills and trying my best to get better. I had to go to the ER last night and ended up staying there past 1 a.m. to find out I have an infection in my intestine, so I am currently on an clear-liquid diet until I stop letting go of the hard stuff. Needless to say: I’m starving! lol

Hope you all are doing so much better than I am!!!!

As for the question: Sometimes it is, but I’ve rarely found ones that are like that. What my biggest problem is is that they have repeat themselves over and over about the last book.

Dawn, hope your Red Wings don’t let you down :-) Sounds like you’ve got a relaxing weekend planned.

The second book responses are fascinating. Some readers feel it, others don’t. For me, I suspect that I build that first book up too much in my mind.

I am easily bored with series, so I understand that.

Stephanie, you poor thing! I hope you feel better soon. Rest and take your meds!

I hear you on the repeating. That’s an extremely hard balance to strike in the continuing books. Very good point!
