Weekend Roundup

Aside from sinuses, it was a nice weekend. Wizard and I went out in the hot tub yesterday and enjoyed the warmer weather.

Saturday I found a picture of a 3 year old German shepherd at our animal shelter  Then I linked to the video and fell in love. So I went out in the garage (Wizard’s workshop) and said, “You have to see this.” He immediately put down his tools and stared walking in the house. Feeling guilty, I warned, “It’s a trick. just so you know.”

Now he was even more intrigued and watched the video. He loved the dog but starting muttering about tricky witches and sweating, then he escaped to the garage.

So I texted him: “Good thing the shelter closes at 4 today.”

He texted back, “Shut up.”

I texted, “You shut up. I can hear you wanting the dog from inside the house.”  Then I sent another text, “We can’t have a dog, just so you know.”

Being a master wordsmith (NOT) he texted back, “Again shut up.”

Then he came in to make popcorn,  so I pointed out,  “I don’t have time for a dog anyway.”

Standing at the microwave he said, “Sure you do…damn it!”

I laughed.  “I could get you to the shelter without breaking a sweat.”

Wizard shot me a desperate look. “If we go to that shelter, you know we’ll get the dog”

“I know.”  So I let him off the hook but we both talked about that dog all the weekend. It’s really, really not the time. Really. Seriously. Not the time for a dog.

So changing the subject, here’s the second bathroom after getting new counters, sinks and lights:

Second bathroom

It’s hard to see from the pics, but the mirrors have beveling around the edges that make them look finished. Overall, we’re happy.  (I’m standing way back in the corner of the tub trying to get this shot while keeping me out of the mirrors–I looked ridiculous! )

So how was your weekend?

You two are so much fun to read about. One day you need to write a book of Wizard and Witch stories :).

Totally understand about the dog. I’m always bugging hubs about “I NEED at a cat!” “I WANT a dog.” But like you’ve stated it’s just not the right time for us either.

How was the birthday dinner? I hope you all had a great time.

Has your sinus congestion/headache cleared up?

The bathroom looks great. You can just make out the bevel on the mirror. I really like it.

The only thing I did out of the norm this weekend was going the Dick’s to buy hubs birthday presents. His BD is May 16th but I got it out of the way. Today I’m ordering those all weather rubber catch all floor mats for the youngest son’s car for his birthday – May 15th. I also plan on stopping at the coffee shop and getting an iced mocha ;).

    Have a great day!

Looks good! The mirror looks good with the counter, and the light gives it just the right touch. Wizard sounds like my dad, he wanted a German Shepherd FOREVER and when a family we knew had puppies he went and got one, I have to say for us it was perfect timing though.
I can honestly say as a puppy he was cute, and now he’s a pest, he’s a small horse and our cats hate him and so do my brothers dogs (one being older, the other a miniature sheltie). It’s funny how they want the dog, but deny wanting it, or refuse to get it, then out of the blue suggest getting it (cute but a little annoying  ) Just wait one day you will get a dog and wonder why you waited, they really can be our best friends, I know ours makes me smile with his antics.
On another note you do look a little ridiculous  , but we all do at some point or another. Especially when it’s a shot as oddly angled as that.

    Ooo, pretty bathroom! Good job!

You two are funny with your back and forth over the dog. Keep it up and next time you really will be bringing back a dog whether you have time for it or not. But getting an adult dog instead of a puppy should help some. Find one that’s kinda self-sufficient.

We spent the weekend trying to wrangle the squirrels that live in our attic crawl-space. Then one got into the garage somehow and ran into Max. Needless to say: Max – 1, Squirrel – 0. He’s a street fighter so the squirrel never stood a chance. Max is also not allowed outside unsupervised because he’ll decimate the wildlife here.

I also spent some time reading David Farland’s books. I don’t know if you heard but his son was in a bad accident, and while reading David’s books won’t help much, at least when I finish I can write reviews and maybe get other people to buy his books. Every little bit helps when you’re facing medical bills that large.

BE What are Mr Farland’s books about? If they are not my type of read they might be my hubs and he has a birthday coming up.

Viki Both my son and husband’s birthdays are in May too. I have a Tarus and a Gemini living with a picies and me the cancer. It really makes for some fun family times (not).

Jen there is never time for a dog. It is like waiting to have kids when you have enough time or money. It doesn’t work. When you all find the right pet you will find the time for it. Bathroom looks great.

Love the way the bath turned out! When the right dog appears, it will be the right time and the two of you won’t be able to resist. Even though they’re a hassle, I can’t imagine life without my critters.

FYI, I was never here. I’m supposed to off line working. I have a hard deadline in 3 days, but I had to check in and see how your weekend went!

    *dashes off, looking guilty*

Viki, you’re so organized! I was like that until these last few years. Love that you’re getting b-day presents done ahead.

Wizard and I are probably nutjobs, but life’s too short to be anything else.

I’m exactly where you are with a dog and/or cat. And I don’t ever want to do what we did with Sadie. I know she was fine, but we commit or we don’t. So I’m gun shy. This dog though, he’s already gone and that’s good. He got a home, and that’s what matters.

Sinuses are getting to me. No fever so I’m going to try for another day or two before I give up and go to the docs.

Enjoy your iced mocha! Oh and thanks on the bathroom!

Amanda, great story about the dog and your dad! Wizard is just like that–he has canine commitment issues :-)

I excel at looking ridiculous, it barely even bothers me, LOL! I was trying to get it all in. But thanks on the bathroom. It’s a big improvement. Now I just have to finish with the final touches like new shower curtains, etc.

B.E., I did hear and with all the tragedy going on last week I completely forgot. I don’t know him or his work, but after hearing that I’ll look it up. You’re doing a good thing!

Max solved your squirrel problem, maybe not exactly as you wanted, but he did solve it. I can picture him grooming and thinking, “Silly humans running all over and not getting the job done. Well, now it’s done.” :-)

Kat, that’s so funny, we always say that about kids–there’s no good time. And it’s true about dogs as well!

We have 3 big birthdays in April, which we just finished. 1 birthday in May. Amazing how they group together like that.

Hmm, I don’t think any of us have seen Silver…she must be off working :-)

    Good luck Silver!

David Farland’s does epic fantasy with his Runelords series, and I just started his Golden Queen series – which is like a mix of fantasy and SciFi with a dose of Irish myth (so far as I can tell – I’m early in the series). He also has some books on writing.

Hi, Jen! You and Wizard crack me up :) One day you’ll find the right dog at the right time. Just keep looking until then.

The bathroom looks great. I love the counter top. Is that granite?

Wow, sounds like everyone had a busy weekend. Mine was too. I went to dinner w the parents on Friday night. Came home and did a load of laundry. Saturday, I went up to my BFF’s house. (She lives 2 1/2 hrs away :( ) We went out to dinner with another friend. Then, a guy she knows from the Parrothead Club was playing with his band at the local Eagles. So we went to listen to the band. Sunday we help the Club with their Adopt-A-Highway clean up, followed by lunch. Can I get another weekend now?
