Happy Friday

Where did the week go? I can’t believe it’s Friday!

I’m deep in the book and  working through an emotional scene that’s taking for-freaking-ever to figure out.  In the meantime, I stumbled onto a debate about Self Publishing vs. Traditional Publishing. I see this LONG stream of comments of writers defending their positions more and more passionately. This always makes me shake my head in bewilderment for two reasons:

1) Why aren’t the commentators off writing their books?

2) Why do we need others to validate our career choices so very much?

But whatever, I don’t have time to worry about it too much. I have books due and these suckers refuse to write themselves :-)

So, what’s up with you all? Any exciting weekend plans?

I am so glad you said that about the debate. It drives me crazy when it goes on and on. People get worked up for the dumbest stuff. If you don’t like it – don’t use it – solved. Like you stated, why aren’t they writing books – go figure.

The week has flown by. It seems that August just goes by faster every year – NO it’s not that I’m getting older ;).

This scene you’re working on that’s giving you grief are you going to run it by Wizard Saturday morning and miss breakfast? Had to ask ;).

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Maybe they get caught up in those debates because SP authors still feel there’s a stigma involved and because TP authors feel afraid that SP will phase them out so they perpetuate the stigma. It’s silly either way.

The week here was washed away by torrential rains. Speaking of weather, how’re the fires in your area? Still not near you, right?

No weekend plans. I finished the rewrite and sent it off for people to read. I might spend some time this weekend deciding what I’m going to tackle next. (Then again, I might just watch the PGA Championship, read, and eat PopTarts.)

No big plans. Just lots of little things to catch up on. And I need to make some decisions about a few things. At a crossroads and need to pick the best looking rut to travel because I will be in it awhile.

May be I will dust off my old pair of Dice that I used in College. I would actually take dice into my college exams with me and if it was a multiple choice test and I had narrowed it down to 2 answers I would roll the dice odds or evens and then pick what came up. I even had a 4 sided die from my D&D days that if I had no idea of an answer I would roll.

I guess sometimes life is just like that a roll of the dice.

No. It can’t be Friday! *muppet flail* I haven’t gotten ANYTHING done! Of course, being flat on my back hasn’t helped. :P

Worried about the fires your way, Jen, and the floods B.E.’s way (though I know she’s on high ground but still…)

I’ve got to really concentrate on getting BLACK MAGIC finished so I can get it out to beta readers/editor. So, no matter what, I’ll be working. :(

    Have a great weekend, witches!

    No, no exciting plans …
I’m with you on that debate though, people should be allowed to follow the path to publishing that works for them without having to worry about defending their choice.

I just finished an emotional scene that took a lot out of me too so I feel your pain but now I’m stuck trying to figure out how to get to my next big event :/

Have a great weekend everyone !!!

Viki, you and I think alike :-) I’m all for fun debates but these just make me tired. I was following a link for another reason and when I saw what it was, I clicked out. Life’s too short.

So with you on the birthday month. I’m not sure of your exact date, but Happy Birthday! Now let’s not think about getting older.

This whole book is giving me fits. I’m trying to fit in too much and will always water down the impact. I knew going in why this book would be tough. I only have myself to blame.

B.E., I’m sure you’re dead on as to why this debate goes on and on.

The new fires aren’t near me, but that one is really destructive. I feel terrible for the people losing their homes. I haven’t heard the latest today.

You’re really getting hit by the rains! Hope it stop soon.

I vote for watching TV and eating pop tarts!

Kat, LOL on life being a roll of the dice! You set that up nicely :-)

Good luck on your decision. Those are never easy.

Silver, I hope your back is getting better. I saw your post on FB, it sounds pretty bad. Don’t push too hard, nothing is worth being in pain like that.

Ban, transitioning from one scene to the next is something I have trouble with too–especially in this book. but you’ll figure it out!
