Happy Friday!

Once again it’s Friday and I don’t know how we got here! Time is flying by.  One week from tomorrow is CPA Boy and Special K’s wedding. I’m really excited, so excited I’m going to the doctor’s Monday and will probably get a shot in my foot so I can stand for longer periods of time.  Usually he does the shot right on top on the bone which isn’t super pleasant but totally worth it.

Speaking of dr appts, yesterday I went and did my routine blood work that keeps my doctor happy.  This is no big deal, my biggest gripe is that I have to drive twenty or thirty minutes or each way which is annoying when I’m in the process of a deadline whizzing by me. But I went,  got it done with minimal fuss, and decided to reward myself with a non-fat latte. So I drive to Starbucks, tear off the stupid bright purple tape wrapped around my arm and toss it in the trash can on my way in the door. I get in line and then look down.

I have blood running down my freaking arm.

Yeah, I’m all kinds of classy.

So there I am in Starbucks, trying to staunch this bleeding, juggling my walling and ordering

And this is exactly why I just try to stay home. I can’t even get a coffee without humiliating myself.  As it turned out I still had the wad of gauze in my hand-no idea why I didn’t throw it in the trash like with the tape. So I slapped that one the stupid bleeder, bent my arm and tried to look like I was normal and my arm wasn’t smeared with blood.

Once I left the coffee shop the bleeding magically stopped.

On another note, if you’re looking for writing inspiration, consider watching and listening to this keynote speech from Kristen Higgens  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxZBvtw28Xw&feature=youtu.be  If you have the time, it’s fun, inspirational and so true about how writing is hard because it’s supposed to be hard.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

LOL, now that could have happened to me too. It is so easy to picture standing in line and people giving all kinds of funny looks as the blood flows. Did any one bother to mention to you that you were bleeding? Now you must remember that you are supposed to keep the bandage on for at least an hour – like any of us do that ;).

At least you did get your coffee. Was it good?

I’m very excited for your family. The wedding is going to be beautiful. They chose a great time of year. Ours got married late August too.

It’s great that you can get the shot and be able to stand and have fun. I don’t envy you the pain of getting. Do you suffer after being on your feet or does the shot prevent that too? I hope so.

We have a busy weekend with family events. They should all go well since the weather is supposed to be great.

    Have a wonderful weekend :)!

Oh man, Jen. Keep those things on until you get home from now on. Gotta let things coagulate, doncha know. As for your other news… Squee! I hope CPA boy and Special K have a magical wedding and a long, happy life together.

Yeah, not quite sure how Friday snuck up on me again, but there it is. And it started the party early today. yay. I may just have to crawl back into bed and see if I can’t get a do-over on the morning.

Have an awesome weekend, Everyone. =o)

TGIF 2 weekends ago we were trying to go to Hershey Park in PA but the car transmission line went in 2 places and we did not make it. We are going to try again this weekend. We want to get the trip in before the kids start school.

I really need to find things like this to do over the next 4 months. After that my husband will be starting dialysis. I knew we would get to this point eventually but still it is a scary life changing process. I am struggling with not putting my life on hold to “be there for him”. I have been looking at starting a Masters program locally to get a social work degree and now I just don’t know what direction I am going to take.

I need a weekend of fun amusement rides and chocolate to help blow off some steam and put things in perspective. May be I will even ride a roller coaster. My son reminds me that you only live once mom.

Kat – Dang! That stinks having the transmission go like that. I’m pulling for you getting to Hershey this weekend. I’ve never been but all my boys have. They loved it. I hope you and the family have a great time.

I’m sure you’ve looked up day trips for your area. Cleveland has a little booklet of them. You may find some easy to navigate outings to do before things get too tough.

Have fun on the roller coaster. Big hugs and lots of prayers sent for you.

Jen, have you been hanging around me again? I’ll look down, realize I’m bleeding and have no idea how I got cut. I finally gave up and carry bandaids now.

Wow, wedding time already?!? Time has really flown. Have fun and all the best to CPA Boy and Special K!

Viki, you’re right on the pressure bandage thing. But usually I have no problems. No one mentioned it but the guy behind me was giving me (and my arm) odd looks.

The coffee was totally worth it!

Things are a little complicated with my RA now but that shot will really help. I can tolerate the shots, so no worries.

I hope your event filled weekend turns out great! And I think you had a birthday, so belated happy birthday!

B.E., were you having trouble sleeping again? I hope you got some rest!

One more week until the wedding and i’m silly with excitement now.

seriously I should have left the bandage on, but why do they do bright purple tape wrapped twice around my arm? A regular bandage would have worked fine and I’d have left it alone :-)

Kat, you really need a fun weekend! I’m so sorry you had to deal with car transmission problems, and now your husband going on dialysis. That’s huge life change, and frightening with all the uncertainty. I’m thinking of you!

Silver, I usually end up with random bruises not bleeding. My bruises make Wizard and my doctor nuts because i have no idea where I got them.

Look how smart you are to carry band-aids!

How is your back doing? And aren’t you releasing a new book soon?
