Weekend Roundup

**Once again my blog failed to post as scheduled. I don’t know what’s going on with it.  Sorry it’s late!**

Beautiful weather this weekend! Yesterday I blew off work to read and go in the hot tub with Wizard. I’ll pay for it today, but it was worth it!

So Laura Wright finished reading/proofing OBSESSION in record time.  There were only a few typos, which were super easy fixes.  She pointed out one thing that may bother some readers, so I’m thinking about that. My problem is that it’s exactly what Sloane would say during an argument with Kat.  This is one of those tough calls that I’m thinking about for a day or so before I decide. It didn’t bother my editor–it’s one of those things that will irritate or anger some but not others. In the end, I’ll just have to go with my gut and hope for the best.

And here’s what Laura posted on Goodreads about OBSESSION:

WARNING: Make sure you go to the bathroom and have snacks on hand because YOU’RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP UNTIL IT’S OVER!

I hope that’s true :-)

So how was your weekend?

I’m really glad you took yesterday off and had time with Wizard. When the hot tub calls, always listen ;).

I have to mention the lion post you put up on your FB page. I LOVED IT!

I say go with your gut instinct. It will generally be the right choice. And speaking as the reader, we do know Sloane, so we kind of have to accept him. You know what I mean?

My weekend just went by without me even noticing it :(. Hopefully the week will be fun ;).

    Have a great day!

If you don’t stay true to the character, you’ll never be happy with it. There’s honesty in that that readers, even if it makes them unhappy, will respond to. Just my 2 cents worth.

Glad you took the weekend off! I really wish I had a hot tub. Mine is over my head in the form of a new roof. Since I needed the roof, I’ll start saving my pennies for the tub. ;)

I worked, mostly, this weekend. I’ll have the print ARC of SEASON OF THE WITCH tomorrow. :D And what a wonderful endorsement by Laura! Can’t wait for the trilogy to wrap up…but…I’ll miss Sloane. And Kat. :-|

I’m glad you took some time to relax. I have to agree as the readers we know how Sloane is and you just have to trust your gut. As long as you’re happy with it and it didn’t bother the editor (and I really hate to say this) who cares, we all know what an idot Slone is  so we all know what he’d say. I know that no matter what you do I’ll love it, I’m already bouncing off the walls just waiting to know what happens next . :-D

How about I start with the hard stuff and then the great stuff.

HI I am back. My husband’s eye surgery went well but the recovery is leaving him with minimal sight. He can move around in familiar places like home but otherwise he can not see to read, he is no longer feeling confident about cooking, he can not drive….. and yes he is depressed. I helped him shave and get out for a while on Sunday, but the rest of the time he is sleeping while I am at work and the kids are at school. If things get really bad with his depression and he really gives up I am going to have to call his dad and have him take him home and care for him. I know my limits. I am not able to do total care for him as well as work and care for kids and keep my sanity. Yes it is sad. I am sorry it is happening too, but you find your strength and you do what needs done.

Great thing that did happen this past week. I took a couple of days off from work and went to Lora Leigh’s readers appreciation event. It was held 30 minutes from where I live this year so I was able to drive up and stay for the day and be back at home in time to make dinner. It was a 4 day event with 26 authors including Angela Knight, Slyvia Day, and so many more. We Played Picturary with the Erotica authors. We went bump in the dark with the paranormal authors and had a cow boy stamped with the writers of western. My favorite is always the speed dating with authors- The authors sit down with you at a table and have 10 minutes to talk with you and then they move to another table and you get the another author with you for 10 minutes. OH GOD I needed those few hours each day for me away from home and work and some where I wanted to be. It really helped me to recharge and be able to be okay for a while. :-D

So looking forward to your the next book! I loveee Sloane. mmm And stay true to him and trust your gut. Your real fans will get it.

And thumbs up for relaxing. We did that Saturday night, sat outside with a fire going. Was so nice. Was even cool enough for a blankie. :) I love fall!

Hey Kat – You are in my prayers constantly. I will amend my prayers to included the depression. Is there a chance he will regain any more sight as the healing continues? My heart really goes out to you and your family. Make sure you really do take care of you.

Viki, how’s your husband? Is he feeling better? You’ve had a lot going on.

I love that lioness/lion pic too! It’s one of my faves!

Thanks for the support! It makes me feel better. I would hate to offend people but I think I’m going to keep it. (it’s not sexual or female related, it has to do with her leg and Sloane’s upset that she could have been hurt). So we’ll see. I just have to own it :-)

Silver I think you’re right. It will push some people’s buttons–something that hadn’t occurred to me until Laura pointed it out. And to be clear, I’m GLAD she did. Better that I think about it before hand and own it honestly.

The new roof does take priority! We saved for years for the pool. We rarely ever take vacations, so the pool’s it for us. We’re homebodies. It’s going to be hard to give up when we move someday.

Is the ARC for the printed version SEASON OF THE WITCH? I’m not keeping up!

Amanda, thank you! I feel better. But at the same time, I care about readers feelings or hot buttons. It’s a tightrope.

Kat, I’m so sorry for your husband! He must be going through a really rough time. I would be depressed too. And at the same time, it’s so hard on you too. I wish there were some easy answers, but it sounds like you have a plan to deal with things. You’ve been, and continue to be in my thoughts.

Viki had a point, will things improve any as he heals?

Thanks wonderful that you were able to go to LL’s Readers Appreciate Event! I’m so glad you got a break and had so much fun!

Oh, Kat! Huge hugs coming your way and to your husband, too. I understand far more than many know. Prayers and healing thoughts for all of you. Hang in there!

Jen, yes. THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC is digital only. SEASON OF THE WITCH will be both. I’m looking at a Halloween release date. :)

And you thought you were late. I missed my morning blog schedule entirely and now I’m just getting around to reading things I should’ve read this morning. Ugh.

Yay for taking a day for yourself and good for Wizard for talking you into it. Sure, it means more work today, but you deserve a break every once in a while. I wouldn’t worry too much about whatever little thing is up with Obsession. It might bother some people, but I’m guessing the majority of your readers will be fine with it, and those that aren’t are adult enough to just flip past it.

The weekend here was lazy. And sleepless. But we did get to see a bobcat stalk, chase and catch a fat fox squirrel – from like 10-12 ft outside our bedroom window. And when the cat got up to walk off with its prey, I realized it was a different, smaller bobcat than before – so now we have two bobcats: Mittens and Whiskers. =o)
