Weekend Roundup

It turned out to be a packed weekend but we did get to see THOR on Saturday Night. I have to confess, I liked the first one better. But there were parts of this one I really liked too.

Yesterday I took a break and met Biker Witch (my sister) for coffee. It’s hilarious how I “plan” for about an hour then glance and my watch and do the classic double take 2 and 1/2 hours later.

Thanksgiving is growing…LOLOL!! And you know what? It’s a good problem to have so I’m not going to whine. Everyone is pitching in (Biker Witch volunteered before I could ask her!), no one is going to care if the house if sparkling clean or not and we’ll have fun.

And the book–I’m making slow but steady progress and really loving Logan and Becky, but there’s a lot of work ahead of me to “show” who they are in the book so the reader can love them too. That’s one of the truly terrifying parts of writing–if I fail, I not only fail the readers (which kills me) but I fail these characters who are trusting me with their story. Yeah, I know how that sounds, but just nod and pretend that doesn’t sound crazy :-)

So how was your weekend?

I know one of the parts to Thor you loved – was it 5 mins. in when he’s shirtless? I admit it put a great big smile on my face. Also loved where her intern pokes him in the chest (still all muscly I see ).

Glad you got out and had coffee with Biker Witch. You need to do that more often. It might help with your writing worries.

It’s understandable that you don’t want to fail your characters but based on the past books you have nothing to be concerned about.

We took eldest and wife to dinner Saturday. All was good except the service was very slow. Then the server knocked our wine glasses all over me. The manager took the bottle off our bill. I didn’t want to say anything because I worried the guy would get fired but the waiter saw the mess and took action. I pray the guy is okay.

Other than that all is well.

    Have a great day!

Sounds like you had a good weekend, Jen. Yay! And no, it’s not crazy – not wanting to let your characters down is like not wanting to let yourself down. ;o) I’d be seriously surprised if you’ve ever let your readers down. :hugs:

Well, as you saw on FB, I’m caught back up with my NaNo goals – after much of what we call ‘cocoa-coffee’. Today I have to start the ‘dragon scene’ wherein I decide if my MCs’ parents live or die. Should be interesting. Other than that, the weekend was full of warm weather which led to yardwork and thus to laying around feeling sore. ;o)

Oh BoY I got to read!!!!!! Yea happy dance. I recently won a book from an author news letter. Ranae Rose. I met her 2 years ago at RAW and fell in love with her Inked in the Steel City books. The books are set in Pittsburg and a tattoo shop. I am such the paranormal reader and have had a really hard time finding any contemporary stories that I like. My paranormal has to be really fantasy worlds but the contemporary needs to be really real. I mean down to earth stories with out the oh by the way the hero is the long lost son of a rich oil company owner so everything is ok at the end. I like her stories because they are ones that could happen to people that I can relate to.

    I really loved the book.

Viki I do the same thing. Waite staff work so hard I worry about them when a goof is made.

    BE Yea on words.

Jen Don’t worry the characters will drive you crazy till you get what they want you to write. Then it is all good.

Glad everyone’s weekends worked out! I wanted to be a hermit all weekend but chapter meeting took a huge bite out of my Saturday. Lawyer Guy has been fighting the flu for a week and he pretty much stayed on the couch except for when he had to go replace the battery in Drover (my Highlander). It died right before I needed to leave for meeting. Luckily, my CP was riding with me so we took her car.

Yesterday, I wrote. And wrote. Typed THE END figuratively if not literary and started edits. My Christmas novella went off to the editor this morning. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right? Today, I have to take care of stuff that’s been piling up so I can make a post office run either late or first thing tomorrow. Then it’s back to writing–editing one project and writing a second. Good thing I can multi-task. *gigglesnort*

And Jen, they will come if you write them. Just sayin’. ;)

Viki, I did like that one scene :-) The movie was good I just had high expectations.

Sympathies on the restaurant experience. I hate stuff like that. Accidents happen, and hopefully the manager realizes that.

B.E, congrats on getting your word count caught up! And working enough to be sore at the same time.I’m not working out and need to. I hate skipping for work–its’ the worst thing to do.

Thanks for the vote of support. Hope I can do it.

Kat, I just heard that author mentioned somewhere else today too! I’m going to have to check her out, though I cant’ get caught up like that in a book right now. But I’m glad you got to read this weekend!

Silver, we had a dead battery this weekend too. How weird. Glad you made ti to your meeting. Really hope LG is feeling better. The flu can be serious.

Congrats on getting to The End! I’m jealous!

Hope you can get everything done and caught up!

I’m glad you got some time in with your sister. I’m going to hang with my sister on Thursday, we’re seeing the Hunger Games and Catching Fire (movie marathon). My friends and I also went to see Thor on Saturday. Did you see the two scenes during the credits? Since we always stay until the end of the credits (and we knew there were two scenes there) we got to see them. It sparked an interesting conversation about how Loki is a good bad guy.

I forgot about Thanksgiving, until I looked at the calendar to mark down what day Black Friday was and realized, Its Next Week :!: . Actually Black Friday is going to be another movie day, we’re seeing Disney’s Frozen.

Oh, and failing characters who trust you with their story is not crazy, at least not to me. The way I see it the characters should try harder to make it easier on you, the person who is writing their story, if they want that story to be told :) .
