Weekend Roundup

I’ve mentioned that Wizard and I have talked about downsizing to a one story house.  We really are just talking but this weekend we looked at another housing track. Liked the house, but the location wasn’t for us.  So I tell him, “You know, I still like that house up on the hill.”

He stopped what he was doing and said “You know, I’ve been thinking the same thing.”

So this is a one story, totally affordable and the back yard ends at the very top of a hill overlooking the entire town. It’s freaking gorgeous, and not something I’d expect to find in our modest town.  However Wizard and I have serious concerns about fire, wild life and SNAKES. I’m terrified of snakes.

But by Sunday morning I’m still thinking of the house and location. So I lure Wizard out to breakfast and then we stop by and look at the location of this house. Still breathtaking…

Later that afternoon we’re talking to our brother-in-law who lives in a home on a hill similar to that one, but in a different town.  After telling him about this house, and he’s like,  “Don’t let a snake scare you.” Then he proceeds to tell us this story of a long snake that got into their house when they were having a party. Many screams later, the police and fire department arrived (my niece called, she’s not a snake fan either). They caught the snake, bagged it and HANDED THE BAGGED SNAKE to my brother-in-law because they don’t transport snakes.

My brother-in-law takes the bag just as the snake pops his head out.

Right in that moment, just hearing the story I nearly had a heart attack. Long story short, my brother-in-law returned the snake to the forest behind them and I’ve decided I love my current house and never want to move.

How was your weekend?

Ha ha – you kill me :). See I love snakes but I don’t want them in my house either. So it’s very normal that you love your house and are very happy to stay there a bit longer ;).

My weekend was snowy ;) – not nearly as bad as it’s been and it was pretty.

Hubs is going out of town and the youngest asks him yesterday late morning if he’d have time to make him some dough so that he can make pizza this coming week. Hubs gets right on it. Later in the afternoon I decide to pout and tell hubs I think it’s mean that he made the kid dough but didn’t make me cookies. Well into the kitchen we go and make cookies ;). Yes, I am a spoiled brat and proud of it :).

    Have a great day!

ROFL… then you definitely need to stay away from SW MO. We’ve seen 5 different kinds of snakes since we moved here, and two of those were venomous. Personally, I like most snakes – which doesn’t mean the venomous ones get to live if they come near me. ;o)

Saturday was a reading and Olympics extravaganza. Then yesterday I felt guilty for my laziness and rewrote a ton of words. Which is good cuz I kinda promised myself I’d get this done by 2/14 and I still have 21 pages left to rewrite.

Do not get me started on snake stories. I have some that will give you nightmares for weeks. Having lived in areas with a snake population all my life I have a healthy respect for the critters.

House dreaming is something we all do no matter how much we love where we are at.

Saturday I took the husband out and made him shop with me. He was ok with it because we were shopping at places he likes to go—- the fresh ground Coffee/Tea shop, the Dutch Farmer’s market, and a discount store with everything. We spent the day out and about. He has had more better days recently but when he has a bad day with the symptoms of his diabetes it is really a bad week. One day at a time.

    LOL Love that story, Jen.

Where I live, we have had snakes in our house several times. We even have a snake grabber on our back porch. Very rural here, though. Hubster is TERRIFIED of them, so he freaks every time. haha

But I love house shopping and decorating and floor plans–that being said, I don’t want to move. Then Hubster mentioned something to me Saturday that had me gaping. “What about some land and we can build?” Did he really just say that? We moved just a year ago!! 8-O I was so flabberghasted I couldn’t even comment. Men! pft!

I’ve been house-hunting vicariously through Only and Baseball Boy. They want to buy and be moved before the Magic Bean arrives in April. And they received news this morning that their offer was accepted and the house they liked will be theirs around my birthday, pending inspection and appraisal. They already have their financing in place. Lawyer Guy is already looking at people to hire to move furniture.

As for snakes, they eat mice. Works for me. Don’t want them in my house or yard but don’t freak out when they appear. They get shooed away if too close or dead (LG HATES snakes!), depending on who sees them first. ;)

I was mostly lazy this weekend and man am I paying for that today! Busy-busy! Have a great week, witches!

LOL Viki, I love the story of you getting hubs to make you cookies. Far as I can recall, Wizard has never made cookies. The pizza dough sounds good too. I must not have trained Wizard right :-)

You love snakes? It looks like all of you here aren’t like me. I am sure that if a snake gets in my house, he’ll get in my bed and hide in my sheets. Lizards don’t really bother me though–we get those in the house once in a while.

I do love our house so we’re not in any rush here.

B.E., I’ve seen your snake posts on FB–probably not coming to visit you :-)

You did great on Sunday! And taking a day off is good for all of us!

Kat, thank you for sparing me the snake stories!

House dreaming is fun. It’s nice when we don’t have any pressure to move too. It’s also how we get ideas on things to do to our house.

I’m glad to hear your husband is having more bad days than good, but it’s a lot of strain on you. Getting him out and enjoying life is so important, he’s lucky to have you.

Ashlynn, wow I’d be overwhelmed by building my own house. Are you tempted at all? But then if you only moved a year ago, that’s pretty soon to be thinking about it again!

I’m with your hubby on snakes!

Silver congrats to Only and Fam!! That was pretty quick all things considered, I’m really happy for them! It’s just as much fun when you’re gong through the process with our kids.

Mondays are always an uphill battle!

Jen, I’m with you on the snakes. Ewwwww!

My weekend was pretty relaxing. I watched the Olympics, mostly the figure skating, played games on my phone and went to dinner with the parents for mom’s birthday. And like Viki’s weekend, mine was a bit snowy. Can I just say how tired I am of the white stuff?! Seriously, enough is enough already!

    Happy Monday!

Dawn, Yay I’m not alone in my snake phobia :-)

You guys are all getting hammered by the weather. Really hope the snow leaves and it warms up!

NO, I am not tempted. When we moved here, I told him I never wanted to move again. And he had the nerve to bring that up?! pft! Men! haha I love him but he’s gonna have a really hard time getting me out of this house. :-o
