Weekend Roundup!

Okay I said on Friday we were having CPA Boy’s birthday on Sunday but that was a clever lie to deceive him. Special K threw him a surprise party on Saturday and it rocked!  While Special K distracted CPA Boy away from the house, Wizard and I went out there and set up. Both Middle Son, his Amazing G/F and CPA’s best friend and his Awesome G/F, arrived early and helped. Since they are ALL taller than me, that means they hung most of the decorations while I stood around pretending I was useful. Then once all the guests arrived, I sent the secret code text to Special K (“Everyone is here” LOL) and she brought home CPA Boy.

CPA Boy was surprised :-) He knew something was up, but not what it was. Special K really pulled it off! We had so much fun, I ended up with a sore throat from talking and laughing so much.  Days like that are such a gift.

In other news, it all took three long weeks, but Wizard is finally completely over his sinus infection! Which made this weekend even better. Friday night we went to the movies to see DRAFT DAY (it was okay) and then stopped to grab some dinner where I had a close up view of a poor little girl get sick.  Ugh! Man I felt so sorry for her and her mom. I felt sorry for me too, but WAY more sorry for them.  I suspect it was going to be a very long night for them.

Sunday I worked then took a break to hang out in the Jacuzzi with Wizard for a while. I’m also proof-listening to chapters of POSSESSION as Ryan gets then done.  That’s always interesting. It’s much easier for me to write these scenes, then listen to them :-)

So how was your weekend?  And just out of curiosity, are you a fan of surprise parties?

Wow, you guys rock. Pulling off a surprise party is really difficult. I tip my hat to all of you. So happy he was surprised and you all had a great time.

Totally relate to every one being taller so others have to do all the “up high” stuff. In the grocery store I now ask people if I can borrow their height. I get some great looks.

Finally! Wizard must have really enjoyed himself this weekend after being ill for so long.

Yuck, poor you and the little girl. That poor kid gets sick on Easter too, really poor kid.

Didn’t do much other than making Easter dinner. It was yummy and we all are too much ham.

I’ve only attended surprise parties so I’m good with them.

    Have a great day!

I am a very hard person to surprise. If you hide something from me I find it. My family has learned if they want to surprise me they put things out in plain sight and I never see them.

This weekend I got hubs out to walk around a local flea market. The weather was nice and he was able to walk for about 45 minutes before he was tired out. One day at a time.

Yay for pulling off the surprise! Hooray for Wiz finally being well!

The Only STILL won’t eat at Hooters. We stopped there for dinner one night when she was 7. She was feeling poorly and wanted chicken strips and we didn’t want McDonalds. It was a compromise. The food was served and she took about four bites and got sick. I got her to the parking lot while her dad paid the bill. Our waitress brought a wet towel out because she could see the kid barfing her guts up out there. It doesn’t take much to humiliate a seven-year-old. Of course, if she reads, this…

I don’t mind attending surprise parties but hate them when I’m the “guest of honor.” Friends through one for me in college and I sat in the birthday cake. Quite by accident but… Yeah. Hate ’em with fork-to-eyes-stabby-vengeance. ;)

    Have a great Monday!

Viki, I know! That poor little girl, but her mom was calm and handling it as well as anyone could. I had extreme sympathy for both of them. No one ever expects that to happen.

Wizard’s so happy to feel better now.

Glad you had a nice Easter!

Kat, yay on getting your husband out and doing something in the fresh air. These are big steps for both of you. I know it’s been a long road.

Hiding in plain sight is a good idea!

Surprise parties are hard to pull off, but they are newlyweds and this is all fun for them :-)

OH Silver, I don’t blame Only for not going back to Hooters, that place has bad memories for her. I’m sure it was awful for all of you. My kids have gotten sick, but it was usually in car–not fun either.

We won’t tell her that you shared that story :-)

Sitting in the birthday cake is sounds like something out of a romantic comedy! I’m sorry it happened though, and don’t blame you for not liking surprise parties.

Dang, I thought I commented here this morning. Crapadoodle. Well, needless to say, the morning got away from me. Bleh. Anyway, congrats on a successful surprise party for CPA Boy. Yay! And yay for Wizard finally feeling better!

The weekend here was busy with home improvement stuff – that overflowed from last week and into this week. Yesterday, he worked all morning laying insulation and I made a ham. Just another day in Sandersonville.

As for surprise parties: No. I’m not a fan of surprises – either giving or receiving. Maybe that’s why my sisters called me the party pooper. ;o)

B.E., I’ve done that! Maybe you did comment and it didn’t go through.

I saw your BBQ and patio furniture on FB. It all looks great and you have an awesome view! Now you’re doing insulation–you’re busy!

Note to self–no surprise parties for BE :-)
