Happy Friday and Mother’s Day!

I sent my 2nd pass edits off for COWBOY MARINE last night!  (Note: title is changing, should have new title next week, and the book comes out in July).  We had to cut about 7K words. My editor did the major cutting, then my job was to clean it all up and make it work. That was challenge as I had to pull out minor plot threads and still keep the flow of the story–no idea if I’ve succeeded. Another editor will read it before it even goes to copy editing (Entangled does a LOT of editing, which is a good thing), so I should know soon.

I need to get back to EXPOSING THE HEIRESS right away. But first, I’m going to try to go to the gym and then run some errands.  I’ll start back in on that book this afternoon.

Wizard and I need a vacation. He may go with me to Florida in the fall (a small conference) but I’m thinking we should do a weekend away this summer.  I won’t take “real” time off if  we’re at home. I think it’d be good for us just to take a weekend somewhere Any suggestions?

And this weekend is…

Mother's Day Concept-- Purple tulips with card on white backgrou

I hope all the Moms out there have a fantastic Mother’s Day!

Wow, that must be so hard to do. Removing so many words and then bringing it all back together. You authors really do amaze me. I’m confident that you got it flowing just fine. How long before the second editor gets back to you?

Yes, you should take a vacation. You two deserve one.

Everyone – Have a Very Happy Mother’s Day!

I’m sure you did a lovely job weaving everything together after whacking out 7K. Bet you can’t even see the seams. (Well, YOU probably can because you know where they’re at, but you know what I mean.) For a short trip, pull out a map, find a town you’ve never been to that has something you might like to see (a pretty area, a nice lake, a mountain view…), locate a bed & breakfast and set up a one nighter. Drive out, see some stuff, sleep where someone else has to make the bed, eat food someone else has to cook, drive home. Once we get done with the home stuff and the family visiting stuff, that’s what we plan on doing. =o)

Thanks for the Mother’s Day wishes. I love the tulips! I hope you have an awesome Mother’s Day, too. :hugs:

OH yea BE’s vacation suggestion is the best. Have you all seen a B&B that looks interesting to you when you have been out house hunting or just driving around? It is amazing how much it can be relaxing in your own stomping grounds when you just spend the night some where else. And how many times have you all been meaning to go somewhere close but haven’t because you think it is so close you will get there sometime? It never works that way.

This weekend for Mother’s day we are going to a local theater production of Monty Python’s Spam a Lot. The play is being done at the same theater where my hub and I got married on the stage. It will make a nice outing. I am hoping I can get the kids interested in going to make it a whole family thing.

Viki, I’m not sure when I’ll get the book back. I’m trying not to think about that right now–one thing at a time.

One thing I love about writing, I always learn something new. I’ve never had to cut so much to fit a line requirement before. These books shorter than my natural voice–but that’s not a bad thing!

    Have a great Mother’s Day!

B.E. that’s an idea! We have mountains and various things close by. But I want to go north to some wine tasting place I think. I need to set aside some time to investigate options.

    Enjoy your weekend!

Kat, I’d opt for a hotel over a B&B. Wizard’s very picky that way, plus I’m such an insomniac. But you’re right, “sometime” is now. We need to enjoy our time together.

I hope your kids go to! How fun to go back to the same theater you were married in. I bet that was an awesome wedding :-)

Ugh. I hate having to revise like that. :( I’m betting you did an awesome job of matching the seams. Short vacation? Have you considered driving up the “Lost Highway”? Gorgeous scenery and some cool places/mountain towns to stay in. Maybe go all the way to Tahoe for a long weekend? In the alternative, there’s always Napa Valley or Santa Barbara…?

Happy Mother’s Day! I’m slowly getting caught up on work. Beat the deadline on one project and it’s off to Ms. Editor 1.0. Had phone call with Mr. HEd this afternoon and things are moving on both projects. Getting to babysit the Sprout tonight. Life is good!

Silver, aww you get to babysit the baby!!!

All good suggestions. I love SB, but I’d love to go to Napa Valley. although Tahoe sounds like. Wizard’s suggesting Vegas. He’ll probably get his way cause Vegas is easy–so much to do without much effort.

Was that a revision phone call? Just curious.

    Have a great Mother’s Day!
