Happy Friday and Father’s Day!

Bailey is coming this weekend! Saturday, Wizard and Middle Son are going to to a track to run their radio control cars, then Wizard will bring Bailey home for a couple days. Yay!  So by the time I get home from my RWA meeting,  Bailey should be here.

I’m doing the workshop too, I’ll let you guys know how it goes. I hope it turns out okay.  I’m thinking since it’s Father’s Day weekend, the turnout will be small.

So I’m living the dream–assuming my dream is to be a juggler. Sheesh. I’m trying to write one book due in two weeks while getting bombarded by copy edits and final proofreading for the one coming out next month, and contract stuff for the Brazil one and so many other things I can’t keep all the balls in the air. I just want TO WRITE THIS FREAKING BOOK.

But you know what? I still love my job :-)

Our Father’s Day will be quiet, I think. CPA Boy has been traveling this week, so he’s staying home as we’ll see him next weekend. Middle is seeing Wizard Saturday. BLB (youngest) may come by and Bailey will be here. I’m making Wizard a strawberry pie so he’s very happy.

What are your weekend and/or Father’s Day plans?

Wednesday Worthy

I know where my book is going! That’s good news, now I need the words to get it there :-) Once the workshop I’m doing on Romancing the Trope at my local Romance Writers of America Chapter is done–my life will be all about getting this book to The End!

And then it’ll be time to promote HER TEMPORARY HERO, but one thing at a time!

So here’s our quickly and randomly chosen Wednesday Worthy:

Weekend Roundup

Great weekend except I bet on the wrong horse, dang it. Let’s start with the great part: I had lunch with Biker Witch (my sister) and she’s doing so much better now after her back procedure.  She looks great and that made me incredibly happy. At lunch we were catching up and chatting away when I said, “I want to go by Pet Co on the way home. They might have dogs there.”

Biker Witch is a big dog lover, so she jumped at the chance. “Let’s go!”

We pull up and much to our surprise, the rescue people had just arrived. Most of the dogs were still in their crates in the truck–except one. A little dude who was so cute.  I walked up to the guy holding him on the leash, and the guy says, “You’re welcome to pet him but he’s kind of shy.”

“Really?” So I crouched down and this super shy dog crawled right up in my lap. I was toast. Seriously, I fell so hard for this dog. Such a sweetie.

Here’s a pic of him. (Ignore me–I was causal and not planning on a picture).

Dog and wish 1

Biker Witch took this pic and sent it Wizard. (Because Biker Witch was totally egging me on AND she loves to yank Wizard’s chain.)

Wizard replied, “She’d better not bring him home.”

So I texted Wizard, “But he loves me.”

He tested “Oh well.”

I shot back,  “Meanie.” Because I’m a master word smith like that :-)

Fast forward a few hours later, I’m home trying to work and not think about the dog.  I could get the dog–believe me, if I dragged Wizard down there to see him, he’d cave instantly because he’s a big softy like that. But we have stuff going on, it’s not the best time, I NEED TO FINISH THIS BOOK! So I’m trying not to think about it.

Meanwhile, Wizard’s super excited about the  Belmont Stakes horse race. For weeks he’s been telling me he thinks California Chrome is going to win it and the triple crown. Friday, he stood at my desk and announced, “I have a feeling California Chrome will win.”

So the race is almost on, and I settle in to watch it with him. A few minutes before the race, Wizard does a complete about face. “I don’t think California Chrome will win. First off that’s weird for Wizard–when he commits, he’s in so that surprised me. “What do you mean? That’s all you’ve talked about.”

Without hesitating, he said, “That’s because I bet $10.000 dollars on California Chrome.”

I laughed in his face. “Liar.” He was lying, he’d never do that. Ever.  But brilliant inspiration hit me on how to get even with him. “You want to bet?”

He raises his eyebrows. “I’m listening.”

I’m sure he was. I have a history of, um, let’s say stimulating bets.  “If California Chrome wins…” I trailed off suggestively.

Wizard leaned forward, forgetting the TV. “What?”

“You have to go look at that dog with me.”

He snarled something about me being a tease…but he agreed and we watched the race.  For weeks, all I’ve heard from Wizard is how amazing this horse is.

Wizard was WRONG! The horse lost. Not only didn’t we go look at the dog, but Wizard’s been torturing me for betting on the wrong horse.

So how was your weekend?

Happy Friday!

Friday again! Wow, it’s crazy. How is it Monday, I blink and it’s Friday?

It’s official now, HER TEMPORARY HERO has been moved up two weeks for release on July 14th. I’m getting excited but there’s too much to do to get ready for the reelase. At least I have Carla (my assistant) to help me. I hope that books makes readers happy.

Oh and I have my speech for June 14th written! It need a little tweaking, but the bulk of it is done. Wizard is so amusing–while I’m writing this speech he’s reminding me, “Tell them about your YEARS of struggle.” Umm, does he think I’ve forgotten? That made me laugh, and FYI there will always be struggles. But yes, Wizard, I will mention that.

And now I’m back to working on Hunt and Alyssa’s story.

So BLB’s (youngest son)  girlfriend texted me the other night that she’s getting a new dog. She works for a vet, and came across a four-year old golden retriever–I’m so happy for her and jealous! This is a very lucky dog though–BLB’s girlfriend is an animal lover, and the dog couldn’t have a better owner. But you had to see Wizard’s face when I showed him the picture and told him.

Wizard said, “We don’t have a room for a dog. Our back yard is all cement and pool and–”

I cut him off. “She’s getting the dog, not us.”

He narrows his eyes. “Is this a set up?”

“No. BLB’s girlfriend already loves this dog.”

He didn’t say anything else and we went in the Jacuzzi. Then like twenty minutes later, he randomly says,  “Golden retriever’s shed a lot.”

I cracked up. “Yes, I’m sure they do. But she’s not going to give me the dog. You know BLB’s girlfriend, she gets really attached and besides, the dog will be really happy with her. You’re safe.”

“Okay.” He relaxed marginally. “Because Bailey’s the only dog I would be willing to take.” He then went on to tell me how excited Bailey gets when Wizard goes over to Middle Son’s house.

Umm….I remember a time when Wizard didn’t really like Bailey and objected to Middle Son bringing  him over. Just saying, LOLOL!! But this really truly isn’t a set up :-)

This weekend, I’m going to lunch with Biker Witch (my sister). I can’t wait!

What are your plans?

Wednesday Worthy

I just did a marathon copy edit for HER TEMPORARY HERO and am totally wiped out. The release day *may* be moved up to July 28th to 14h but I’m not 100% sure yet.  So I’m brain deal and sleep deprived (I’ll feel better by the time this posts!).

This guy…

Handsome muscular man in the old garage.

…is the best I can do for Wednesday Worthy. What do you think?

Weekend Roundup

I outlined and rewrote my workshop on Romancing the Trope (I’m giving it June 14th) and I’m still not happy with it. No surprise there, right? I’m never happy–I’ll set for semi-satisfied at this point. I really have something to say here about tropes and romances, but all the brilliant things I think of in the shower or on the treadmill either aren’t getting down on paper, or look really lame when I see it on paper. And I’m switching back and forth between that and writing the book. I’m pretty sure that if someone were ambitious enough to do an MRI of my brain it’d look like a twisted pretzel.

Yesterday I skipped a small get together at Wizard’s mom’s house to work. I HATE doing that. Family and friends come first, but Wizard assured me seventeen thousand times it wasn’t a big deal and it’s fine if I need to stay home and work. Some days I am so grateful for him.  Other times he makes me crazy :-)

Today I’m going to hit the gym for a short workout if I can before tackling my writing. My butt is taking on the shape of my chair, that’s just not a good thing!

Oh two things before I forget. POSSESSION book 2 in The Plus One Chronicles has been release in audio! Finally! That book had repeated delays that were out of my or the narrator’s control. But it’s here now and available on Audible, Amazon or iTunes. And the second thing is the Rock*It Reads Sizzling Summer Giveaway. You can get 10 Free e-books just for entering and one winner will get the grand prize of a Kindle Paperwhite. You can enter on my FB Page here or on the Rock*it Reads Website here.

So that was my weekend–how was yours?
