Weekend Roundup

I hate insomnia! However that was Saturday night, I’m pretty sure I slept Sunday night, but since I’m writing this Sunday before bed, I can’t be sure :-)

Friday I baked ALL day. In case you missed it on my FB pages, here’s two out of three different kinds of cookies that I made.

2 batches of cookies

The Kahlua Chocolate Cookie Sandwiches are really good, but Special K (Oldest Son’s wife) said they need more Kahlua so next time, I’ll add more. I usually stick to the recipe the first time I make something  then adjust once I see how they taste. I totally trust Special K’s opinion on all things Kahlua :-) The recipe link is here

My niece’s wedding shower was a beautiful event. I was impressed! One of my sister-in-laws, and a friend of the family hosted the shower. They think of all the little touches that would never occur to me. Snowy white table clothes with lovely center pieces made of netting and flowers, along with parting gifts for the guests. At my house, I can handle food, drinks and dessert…beyond that I’m a little challenged.

The wedding is next month!

Sunday morning, BLB (youngest son) came by. We made breakfast then I told him I had to work. Two hours later I actually started working.  We just end up talking, then I look up and am like, “Oh crap where’s the time gone!”

Back to work on the book! One way or another this book will go to my editor on August 11th.

How was your weekend?

Your cookies look and sound so delicious. I think I may try the Kahlua chocolate cookies. If I do I will take the advise of Special K – I love Kahlua :).

Sorry you couldn’t sleep. It is so frustrating. I just end up getting up and doing stuff and nap on the couch. But then again I don’t sleep much to begin with ;).

It amazes me how some people can put parties together. I have no talent for that. I’m glad the shower was so nice.

We drove in to NY for the graduation party but went to see my mom first. Hadn’t seen her in 2 yrs either. She was very happy :). My cousin and her hubs did a really nice job putting on the graduation party. (some people have it and others (me) don’t. All went well. It was a long day and too much time in the car.

FSH – I couldn’t stand the blah blah blah. Droning and constantly repeating things drives me crazy.

I hope you got a good nights sleep and have a really great Monday :)!

Ugh. Is it just me or are writers more prone to insomnia than other people? It seems like we all have it lately. I hope you got some sleep last night. So glad your cookies turned out well and that you had a nice time at the wedding shower. Heh, I do that with the Kid – I’ll tell her I have to go and then we end up talking some more. Actually, now that I think about it, I do that with my Mom, too. =o)

Another lazy weekend here. Didn’t get a damn thing done on the book I’m supposed to be rewriting. Then last night, I got a story idea that bullied me into being written, so I slapped a thousand words down on that. I suspect it’s my brain’s way of procrastinating on this rewrite – throw out a shiny story idea so she looks the other way and gets distracted. Insidious.

The cookies look delicious! I bet they were a hit. :) Sorry about the insomnia. I think B.E. is right. I suffer from it too…my brain is usually plotting scenes.

I read book one of FSOG. I thought it pretty good considering all the flack I’d heard about it. That being said, I didn’t buy book 2. At least not yet. Two of my fave authors have new books coming out tuesday…so I’ll have those to read.

It’s good to visit with family and friends though, even if you ran over on your visit with your son. That he comes to see you is awesome! :)

Now…I really need to get to work. I have a book to finish! :P

I feel like I haven’t slept in a week. Was really nice to be in my own bed with my own pillows last night. I’ve got so much stuff going on I’m hoping to sleep between 2 and 4 a.m. to have enough time to get it all done! I saw the cookies on FB and started drooling.

On the way to San Antonio (and on the return), we stopped at a Czech travel center. They had kolaches. Meat and cheese and dessert ones. I must now learn how to make them! OMG!!! GOOOOD stuffs!

I’m lucky. Only will usually tell me to get lost when I want to keep visiting. And vice versa. ;) Have a great week, y’all.
