Weekend Roundup & Happy Labor Day!

Great weekend! I could totally get used to not working, LOLOL!! Although I’m going back to writing tomorrow (Tues). First up–I’m going to work on Linc’s story, CAGE MAGIC, then I will write the first book in my new series. I’m going to work really hard to write both these series–the Wing Slayer Hunter paranormal, and the new contemporary series. I can’t maker a 100% guarantee I’ll be able to do the Wing Slayer books, but I’m really trying as I really want to finish the series. I don’t have release dates yet, I’ll let you guys know when I do.

Now here’s the wild card: Wizard is retiring early–Sept 30th of this year will be his last day at work.  Then he will be home. With me. Allll day long.

Hmmm….how much can I write with Wizard around? Maybe more because he will be able to help with running the house and doing errands. But maybe less because that man knows how to distract me.

On the other hand, I need to work since he’s retiring so it’ll be an adventure!

As for the weekend, Saturday I went to lunch and shopping with a friend and had a great time! I also found a black skirt that I needed, and am so happy about that. But the best part is that she has a connection with some people who have French Bulldog Puppies :-) Unfortunately there are only three and they are already sold :-( But maybe I can get a puppy from a future litter! Right now, we have enough adjustment with Wizard’s impending career status change.

How was your weekend? And for those of you in the states, Happy Labor Day!

Okay – This is insane. Hubs is also retiring early, Sept 8th is his last day. I think we’re scary ;). I’ve been wondering how I’m going to handle hubs underfoot. He needs a hobby other than golf. I’m sure our men will be fine and leave us be :).

I’m glad you took the weekend off and enjoyed yourself. Shopping sounds like it was fun and productive.

Kind of thought you’d be working on Linc soon since he’s been waking you up at night. You have me very excited that you’re going to be working on two completely different series t once. That may take some of the stress off in a round about way. When you have an issue with one just go to the other.

Did Bailey come over for Labor Day?

I hope you have a great day and that Labor Day was nice.

Sounds like you had a great time this weekend and you know…if Wiz is home, he can help with the care and feeding of a new puppy. Just sayin’… ;)

For all intents and purposes, Lawyer Guy is semi-retired. There are a lot of days he stays home or doesn’t go into the office until later. He’s pretty good about leaving me alone. He even took off Friday to babysit Magic Bean Sprout for me so I could get some serious work done. I added about 8K words. I’m up before dark today in hopes of finishing the first draft. Easier to edit than write between bouts of baby snuggles. I do dread when he’s underfoot all the time, though. Hopefully, you and Wiz will set up some…rules. Yeah. That’ll work.

Can’t wait for Linc’s story and for details on the new series! Happy Labor Day, y’all.

I’m so glad you’re revisiting the WingSlayers again. And I can’t wait to hear about the new series. You can do this. If there’s anything I can do to help, let me know. (Even if it’s just standing over here shaking pompoms at you.)

As for Wizard retiring… YAY! And you can do that, too. He knows how important your work is and he’ll let you do it, but schedule in some time with him, too. Because having your hubs around all day every day can be fun. I know when Hubs retired I was nervous – because we’d never been alone together all day every day for days on end. But it’s been awesome. Of course, he spends a lot of time doing his own thing over there on his computer while I’m here on mine. =o)

Not much news from the weekend. I had a little crisis of confidence that set me back a little, but I got over it. Then I finished up the polishing on that one manuscript so it’s now much tighter and I got it under 100K without having to chop anything major. Other than that, reading and watching TV. We lead an exciting life over here in the Ozarks. ;o)

Viki, that’s…wow. Our lives parallel in so many ways! It’s going to be a life change for both of us, but I think it’ll work out.

It’s been a tough decision balancing what I want to do as opposed to what’s best for my career. The WHS are a huge risk, but what’s life without risk :-) I’m going to give it my best and see what happens.

Shopping was great in that I need some basic, go-to items for travel and events. It makes life simpler instead of that last minute scramble.

Bailey isn’t coming over. Wizard saw Middle Son on Sat, but they have plans today. We’ve been working on some stuff in the house and enjoying ourselves, so it’s all good.

Hope you have a great day!

B.E., thank you so much for the offer! I’ll give you a yell if i need anything (including beta readers if you’re up for it).

You’re the voice of experience on a hubby retiring! You seem to be having a lot of fun, so I’m listening. I want very much to spend time with Wizard so I’ll focus on that–excellent advice.

I’m sorry about the crises of confidence. I can tell you I have it on every single project. It doesn’t get easier, we just have to keep going. There are no guarantees ever. Hang in there and believe in yourself!

Silver, YES! LOL on the puppy. But the smart thing to do is wait and see how this plays out with his retirement. If we are coming and going a lot, then it’s not really fair to a new puppy and we may not want to be tied down.

I thought you’d told me that before about LG. I’m not really worried–we’ve been married so long we are pretty good at figuring things out together. And Wizard usually has no problem finding things to do.

I don’t know how you’re balancing your writing schedule with babysitting. Your daughter, son in law and Magic Bean are so lucky to have you. I sincerely mean that. But boy I can relate to that being up before dark and working again late at night. I’ve done it many times around family events to get a book delivered.

Yay on Wizard retiring! That’s so awesome! You will love being with him and I know he will find something to keep him busy while you write books for us. :P

Excited about you writing WS again! That’s how I found you, you know. Through those books. I’m interested to hear how you will write two totally different books at the same time. I hear about writers doing it, but I’ve never had to try it.

I just got my book back from edits and I plan on editing it while writing the next one. I’m already into it, so I don’t want to mess with my flow. This I’ve never had to do either, so I’m a little intimidated. You will have to tell me your hints! :)

    Happy Labor day!

Ashlynn, I’ll concentrate on one book at a time in each stage; draft, revising, editing, polishing etc. But I’ll switch between them at each stage–does that make sense? That’s my plan…who knows what will happen. Life is unpredictable.

Hmm, hints? It’s all about butt in chair, and concentrating. I’m so easily distracted (dog videos are my downfall). You can totally do this! Just go for it!
