Weekend Roundup!

So my big news–I cleaned out my closet! LOL, ok it’s not big news, but I purged three bags; one is trash and two are for the charity truck. I’m so happy to get that project done! Otherwise, I had a great time at my meeting. I already mentioned on FB that The Plus One Chronicles won first place in the Erotic Romance category of Book Buyer’s Best contest for the Orange County Chapter of RWA. This was super awesome because that’s my “home chapter” where I began as a total newbie, wanna-be-writer. So many people from that chapter have helped me along with the way and I am forever grateful.

Also, the two other finalists in that category are winners in my view. As honored as I am to win, the truth is it could have been any one of us. They are both wonderfully talented authors. That said, I’m trying to convince Wizard that since Plus One Chronicles did win, I should get a French Bulldog puppy next year.  He rolled him eyes and refused to answer that comment (I put it on his FB page) so far. We’ll see, I think I’m wearing him down, LOL!

Okay, moving on…now I get to focus on the Wing Slayers for a while!  At the meeting (it was actually a big birthday meeting held in a hotel) few people came up to me to tell he how excited they are that I’m continuing the Wing Slayers. That always fills me with equal parts of joy and terror. I’m so happy to give back to the readers who’ve stuck with me plus I love the hunters and witches, but I’m always concerned the stories will let them down. Isn’t it great how I can emotionally multitask :-)

In other news…I’m leaving Wednesday for Florida for the NINC Conference! This is an industry focused conference, so I’ll let you all know if I hear any interesting tidbits.

Oh and I really need to stop baking! I made chocolate chunk cookies on Friday that I can’t leave alone. Bad Witch!

Okay, your turn! How as your weekend?

When I saw your post on FB I was thrilled for you. The Plus One Chronicles deserved the win. Not knowing who the other finalists were but going on your comments they must have been worthy competition. And YES, you do deserve a French Bulldog Puppy ;).

Speaking of the pup, hubs and I went to eat Sat at a place connected to a mall. So we cut through Nordstroms. As we entered I was “pulled” to the right. There on the table was the cutest sweater with a little French Bulldog pup looking up at a pink bone hanging overhead. I said to hubs, “It’s and XS :) and it’s oops, only $98.” Needless to say it didn’t come home with me :( .

I’m glad you had a good time at the meeting too. I think it’s fantastic that so many are excited that the Wing Slayers are up next.

You should have a really great time in FL. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

We’ve been baking too. Must slow it down a bit but it’s all so good :).

    Have a great day!

Congrats!! (applause) You so deserve a puppy for that, and, barring any reason like allergies or cat person…, so do the other two :) . I’m glad you had a good time at the meeting and I can’t wait to hear more about the Wing Slayer Series, I made my sister read the series and she had to add it to her Christmas list (I actually bought the first two for her already shh! ) I need to clean out my closet but, I’ll wait until I finish rearranging/painting my room.

This weekend though, was amazing! I got a new job, and on Sunday night I sent in my letter of resignation to my old job. So I’m really happy about the new job :-D , obviously. No baking, but I did get to spend time babysitting my nephew who happens to love the fact that I’ll play with him and he also happens to love my movie collection, which is scarily large.
    Have a Great Day!
(and don’t worry Wizard will cave eventually  )

Woohoo! Congrats on your award! Thats is awesome. It’s nice to be recognized like that.

Sunday we had hubby’s cousin wedding to go to. Beautiful outdoor fall day in front of a huge oak tree. It was perfect.

Monster has had me pretty much since Thursday. This morning I finally feel normal…well, my normal. :P So I read a book Axel by Harper Sloan (pretty good) but got nothing done on the writing front.

But I’ll get to it today!

Hey, cleaning out the closet is a big deal. Making decisions on what to throw can be very taxing. Yay you for culling three bags worth. And YAY for winning! And… well, loads of yays today for you.

Personally, with the WingSlayer books, I’m just happy they’re coming back, so no pressure. Write it like you write anything and I’m sure I’ll be happy. =o)

The weekend here was another laze-fest. I read, I took pics of pretty things, I watched football. I really need to get back to work, but as NaNo approaches, I’m lacking energy for other stuff. (Conservation of energy… that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)

Congrats on the award! You deserve it (and a puppy.)

I’m with B.E. I’m just glad the Wing Slayers are coming back. I’ve missed those boys! I’m also sure I’ll love whatever you write as much as I have everything else you’ve written.

I had a pretty nice weekend. I went to lunch and a movie with former Boss Lady. We saw The Judge with Robert Downey Jr. I thought it was great. It had parts that made me laugh and others that made me cry. Saturday night I watched Ohio State trounce Rutgers and the Red Wings beat Toronto with 10 seconds left in OT.

    Happy Monday!

Viki, thanks on the award. It’s fun to be recognized, but the true reward comes from readers :-)

I was thinking this morning that much as I want a French bulldog, if we do get a dog, it’ll probably be a little shelter doggie that was fall in love with. Or some random happenstance type of thing.

    You NEED that sweatshirt!!

Baking is way too addictive

Amanda, congratulations on your new job — that’s huge news!!! I’m very happy for you.

Your nephew sounds like he loves spending time with you.

That’s so nice of you to make your sister read the series, thank you!

Wizard will cave if I want it bad enough. I really do, except the being tied down part, so that holds me back a bit. And thank you on the award!

Ashlynn, I can picture the wedding on a crisp fall day. Seems like you have a lot of weddings lately.

I think AXEL is one of the books I bought for my Kindle. Good to know you liked it.

Hope you feel better and have a good week!

B.E., seriously it was a big deal to me to clean out the closet. I was being brutal about what I am getting rid of. Wizard complains that I still have too many shoes :-)

    Thanks on the Wing Slayers!

Sounds like it was a good weekend. Hopefully we can both get motivated today :-)

Dawn, thanks on the Wing Slayers and award! And I agree on the puppy :-)

So you liked the movie, The Judge? I think Wizard wants to see it. And nice that you got to have lunch with your former boss.

    Have a great week!

I’m late. :( Was dealing with…stuff today. Catching up on blogs before I break down and fix dinner. I suppose I need to join NINC one of these days. I jsut wish I had the $$ to hit all the conferences for the groups I belong to. LOLOL

    Have a great trip!

Silver, congrats on your new release of BLUE MOON, it’s on my Kindle :-)

Hope everything is okay, and it was just all the Monday stuff.

This is the first year I’ve joined NINC, and the jury is still out. I’ll let you know how it goes at the Conf, which is really the main reason I joined.

Hope you have a great week!
