Weekend Roundup

Okay so who watched the Superbowl? Wizard turned it on when he got home from racing and I saw some of the half time show. But I was tired and a little achy from…well even I can’t even make this stuff up:

So some of you may have seen on FB where I mentioned that last Tuesday night I was coming down the stairs, missed a step, hit my bad ankle and twisted it. It was a MINOR twist. I limped for a couple days, and then just had to be careful not to pivot on it. It didn’t even bruise and was healing fast. Just a minor twist. I wouldn’t even call it sprained.

Then Saturday morning I’m coming down the stairs and thinking/worrying/stressing about the book (why can’t writing be easy???) and then shifted my thoughts to, Hmm, my ankle’s pretty good now, I bet I can clean the bathrooms…

BOOM The very next step I slipped again. In front of Wizard.

Cue the explosion from Wizard. I mean for about thirty seconds, he lost it, yelling that we were moving to a one story house. As in PACK UP THE HOUSE RIGHT THIS SECOND WE’RE MOVING.

Okay…as soon as I got upset he calmed down instantly. Aside from terminal embarrassment I was okay.

We decided against moving :-)

So Wizard went off to do something with middle son and I decided I should try putting on on shoes (I hadn’t been wearing then to rest my ankle)  I went upstairs and got my shoes, and came down stairs fine. See? All good. I learned my lesson to pay attention to what I’m doing.

So I’m sitting on my chair at my desk, and I bend over to adjust my shoe where it’s tied close to my ankle…THE DESK CHAIR ON ROLLERS SLIDES OUT FROM UNDER ME AND I FALL ON MY ASS.

I swear I can’t make this up. That has never happened. NEVER. I’ve worked at this desk since 2002! I’m sat on the floor, laughing so hard, I had tears. Because…seriously? Who does that? I’m not even particularly uncoordinated. I can balance on one foot in yoga poses, but I can’t sit in a chair and adjust my shoe?

I told Wizard when he came home and held my breath. I wasn’t sure if he’d lose his temper or fall over laughing. He tried, really tried to keep a straight face but within two seconds he was laughing.

I told BLB (Youngest Son) the next day when he stopped by. Same thing, he laughed too. Plus they could both see I was moving around fine.

Feel free to laugh too. I have a few minor sore muscles that kicked in about 2am Sunday morning but by the time you guys read this, I’ll probably feel much better.  However I am wondering: Do they sell seat belts for desk chairs?

Otherwise my weekend was busy juggling some projects,  and I am going right into panic mode on CAGED MAGIC (we all knew it would happens. And I’m pretty sure that has something to do with my suddenly clumsiness).

How was your weekend?

Oh no, I feel for you. Isn’t strange how the aches sneak up on you. Why 2AM – because that’s when you’ll least expect them to pop up. I sure hope you are feeling better. I was wondering, after telling Wizard about the chair if he teased about getting rid of all chairs on wheels :).

Yes, we did know the time for stressing was coming. Know that we’re here supporting you.

I Got my lobster bisque. We also got over 10 inches of snow and it’s still falling. No to the superbowl but yes to the Kittenbowl.

    Have a wonderful day!

Okay, I won’t say that we need to cover you in bubble wrap (because I always hated when people told me that), but you need some kind of cushioning lately. And yeah, I’d have gotten the same thing from Hubs that you got from Wizard – except we bought a one story house already and I still managed to fall on the two steps on the front porch. We just are who we are and the bruises are simply badges of that. Seriously, though, I hope the majority of the aches are gone this morning. :hugs:

Hubs watched a bit of the Super Bowl, but I was reading. I did watch parts of the Puppy Bowl and the Kitten Bowl. Too cute.

Yeah, panic mode. I’m right there with you, sister. We’ll both be fine, though. Cage Magic will be awesome, and Dying Embers won’t bomb. If all goes well, I’ll launch my book on 2/13 and enough people will buy it to cover the cost of making it. If not, there’s always the next book.

Oh, heck, girl you need to be careful! That said, if you did have a seatbelt in your desk chair, you would have smacked your head. So IMO ass is better than your head. :P (and yes I laughed tooo, snickers) But do hope the aches go away.

Jen, I know you got this one Caged Magic! YOU GOT THIS! You always do and it always kicks ass. :D

I watched the SuperBowl. I hadn’t been feeling well and within the last 5 mins of the game…my eyes quit working! I missed the the fight and everything! AGH! But at least my team won.

Only you, Jen. That said, I’m REALLY glad you’re okay! I’m in panic mode too, which is weird because I don’t normally panic over deadlines. As for the weekend, I fought a migraine and dizziness for most of it and read in snippets around it. Watched the Superbowl for the commercials but then got caught up in the game. I didn’t have a dog in that fight so I was booing and cheering each side. Heckava finish!

There is a world outside of work, kids, house cleaning, making food and reading? 8-O Yea it is there I tend to ignore it. I am very happy that I have been able to focus on getting some things for me accomplished -health issues and getting back into an exercise program.

Jen you need to work on your air spells and create a invisible air bubble around your self. Or go with the bubble wrap. But if these things did not happen to you you would not be you.

Viki, really what is it about 2am? If Wizard had been here, he might have blamed the chair, but more likely, he’d have been too busy laughing. It had to look hilarious. It felt like it happened in slow motion.

The lobster bisque sounds good but all that snow…not so much! Glad you got to see the kitten bowl. I might catch some youtube clips when I get a free minute.

Ashlynn, I’m glad you laughed :-) It’s just ridiculous.
But man, I am so sorry you lost your vision the last five minutes of the game. That really sucks. I’m assuming it’s a form of migraines from your other issues? i can’t imagine how awful that is. But yay that your team won, that’s something at least.

CAGED MAGIC will get done, but we’ll see if it’s good enough when it goes to the editor at the end of the month.

B.E., I’ve felt so much better today, really. Like 90% better. A good nights sleep always helps.

i’d get hurt on bubble wrap too :-)

I should have watched the puppy and kitten bowls!

Yay on Dying Embers! Did I see a cover somewhere? Seems like I saw it in my feed, but went back to look just now and can’t find it. In any case, it won’t bomb, but it takes time to build. Just keep plugging away and believe! And remind me when it releases so I can put in on my Twitter and FB! Plus buy it :-)

Silver, so sorry for the migraine (they suck and make it impossible to do anything) and panic. I used to be way ahead of deadlines and rarely panicked, but in the last five years, it’s all changed. I’m guessing you’re heading into that place too. After a while you just can’t plan for all the revisions, edits, galleys, etc. Plus the pressure ramps up with every book.

    Hang in there!

Kat, so nice to see you! And i don’t know if there’s a live outside of all that–I went to Target today and was amazed there was an outside world at all :-)

It’s true that these things define me, LOL! Once a book consumes my brain, there’s no telling what will happen to me.

Hope you have a great week!

I posted the cover on my FB personal page and on my new author page, and I put it on my blog’s Suspense page. I’m spreading that sucker around. If you want to gaze at it’s shiny-shiny wonder, go here: http://besanderson.blogspot.com/p/suspense.html

I’ll definitely let you know, Jenn. Any boosting you can do would be greatly appreciated. =o)
