Weekend Roundup

Anyone else feeling the time change? I want my lost hour back :-) But other that, I had a great weekend.  Wizard and I went out to dinner–it was an okay dinner but great to get out and relax, then Saturday I hung out with my sister for a few hours, and I finished this round of edits for EXPOSING THE HEIRESS, book three in the Once A Marine series. I believe that book will be scheduled for June or July. I’m really getting excited about the book now — I love Hunt, the former sniper hero, and Alyssa, the famous heiress betrayed by someone she should be able trust.

For the first time this year, I’m semi-caught up until the first round of edits/revisions for CAGED MAGIC come back to me. It’s so awesome to have a bit of breathing room! Oh I have things I need to do, but it’s not that same intense pressure of writing a book on deadline. I’m hoping to start outlining my new contemporary series. Plus Wizard and I need to start looking at redoing the floors in our house. While I’d love new floors, the work involved in daunting, not to mention the expense.

So how was your weekend?

I’m so happy you are finally getting to relax a little. Nit being under all that pressure must be fantastic. Too bad we have that stupid time change on the weekend you finally get a break.

I know what you mean about floors. The expense is crazy. We thought about re-doing all of our hardwood but it’s just too much to deal with right now. We will repair the window leak water damage to the floor but that’s it for now. I need a break from home projects.

We all went out for DIL’s birthday dinner Sat. It was great.

I’m looking forward to Hunt too ;).

    Have a great day!

Don’t get me started on the time change. Ugh. I’m totally draggin’ butt today. So happy you had a nice weekend and that you finally feel like you have some breathing room. :hugs: Good luck with the flooring thing. It’s on the list for here, but not this year.

My weekend… Meh. I did some stuff, read some stuff, watched some stuff. Nothing wildly exciting or even interesting. I did play with designing my next book cover – trying to make it edgy and junk. In the end, the more sedate cover I already worked on felt more true. This isn’t an edgy book. It’s a mystery in a small town, which kills the edgy – but it’s definitely not cozy either. One beta reader said it reminded her of the old hard-boiled crime stories. LOL, this cover stuff is almost as hard as the writing.

WTG on getting some much needed breathing room. I know you rarely get it. And I have to say, getting up this morning was a chore but I’m going to love more daylight in the evenings. They should just leave it just like this.

Oh home projects. They can be daunting. We had wood floors put in our bedroom last year because of the pups. They match the rest of the house. So worth it!

I don’t think we’re doing any projects this year. Which is weird we usually do. Hubs is starting a new biz while trying to sell his other biz. Which at the moment means 2 jobs, less money and no time. Go figure!

Viki, exactly on the floors! Plus we have to move everything upstairs down to the first floor when they do that. It’s just overwhelming. I debated on wood floors, for the downstairs but think I’m going to pass because of the pool. In the summer, people walk in dripping all the time and tile is much more forgiving than wood.

So sorry abut your window leak that damaged part of the floor. And I really understand needing a break!

    Thanks on Hunt :-)

B.e., you’ve done a lot of home improvement projects, I bet you’re ready for a break.

A week off from deadlines is awesome and such a gift right now :-)

So you’re designing your won covers? I’m impressed! When in doubt, go with your gut!

Ashlynn, I do like it when it says light longer in the evening, so I’ll agree with that!

You guys launched a new biz this year? That’s a ton of stress, excitement and work. You need the break from home improvement projects! Good luck!

    I. Hate. Daylight. Savings. Time. Period. Hate springing forward, hate falling back. I haven’t adjusted from that back stuff and now I’m all forward? No. Just NO!

I’m just now getting my energy levels up. I’ve been sick since before Christmas and it SUCKS! I’m behind on my publishing schedule. :( But kudos to you, Jen! So excited you’re able to take a break, refill the creative well and just enjoy your life for a bit. I’m pretty sure EXPOSING and CAGED are going to be awesome! Can’t wait to read them–and to hear more about the new project.

I’m off to wrestle with some biker Wolves.

Silver, I know, right? years ago when I lived in AZ we didn’t have to change time, we just stayed on Daylight Savings as I recall.

Really hope you’re feeling better now. You’ve had the Never Ending Crud for sure.

Good luck wrestling those biker wolves!
