Weekend Roundup

Oh!! So I saw a mockup cover for the re-release of Blood Magic, and love it! Until that moment, it was all pure work and planning, then I saw that cover and fizzy excitement hit. It’s my hope to share this world with new readers by having the books at an affordable price point in digital. It’s a second chance for the series that taught me to write the very thing that scares me the most and then to TRUST THE READERS with those scenes. And so far, readers have been more supportive than I could ever imagine. Because it turns out — those things that scare me? Yeah, those are things the readers struggle with too.

Otherwise, my weekend was great. I went to my RWA Chapter meeting, where I met up with an old friend and we went to lunch to catch up. And my chapter gave me a rose to recognize my RITA Nomination which was incredibly sweet.

RITA Rose from OCC

I joined that chapter long before I published and I really believe the support, education and friendship have not only help me in my career, but to grow as a person.

So how was your weekend?

Pretty rose! Yay for Blood Magic’s new cover!

Editing, editing, editing. I want those pages polished ’til they shine like the top of the Chrysler Building! Soon. Soon I’ll be able to put the polishing cloth down, but not yet. As such, I have a massive case of edit-brain combined with cave-vision – like a writerly bat.

Can’s wait to see the new cover(s) and read the new editions! I don’t have BLOOD MAGIC in digital so I’m double excited. I’ll add the other books as they come out to!

Purty rose. :) Catching up on all the shitstuff I put on hold while finishing #RDR3. Chewing my acrylics (because I still have pretty nails and toes from Nationals ;) ) while waiting for response from my CP and beta.

I’m gonna take a day or two to decompress before the reactions come in and I have to fix things to send to HQ. Then time to start the next projects–RDR#4 proposal, MOONSTRUCK: LIES, Penumbra #3, and that romantic thriller we talked about in NYC. Good thing Insomnia are BFFs again!

B.E, LOL, love your description! Writerly Bat, bwhahaha!! Once you finished, you’re going to need to decompress!

Sorry I’m late today — I had a routine dental appointment.

Silver, I’m excited now. Before this, it was pretty much just grunt work :-)

You too on insomnia? I’m down to about four hours a night and seriously annoyed. Loved your book, Hard Target, by the way. Just need to get around to writing a mini-review!

Congrats on getting that book done!! I know you’re anxious about feedback, but any notes will be easy fixes, much easier that writing the book itself. Now do something fun and relaxing!

Love your rose. You got into a great chapter. And they’re so sweet to honor you too :). Love it!

It will be cool to see the new covers. I do love the originals too.

My weekend was not so good. Started feeling a bit yucky Sat. afternoon and it has just let up. But to add to that, hubs fell off his bike Sun. morning and we spent the entire day at the ER and today (afternoon) at the orthopedic surgeon. He hit every part of his body. Among lesser injuries, he split open his head on his right eye orbital (stitches), and broke his wrist. He can’t wait to tell his friends how I beat him up :). He looks awful but he’s breathing so all is good. Looking forward to easier days ;).

I hope you have a fantastic afternoon.

Viki, oh no!! How serious are his injuries? Is he seeing the surgeon for his wrist, or something else?

I’m so sorry! What an awful thing to have happen. Please keep me updated when you have time.

We’re you sick on top of all this? I worry when you’re under stress. I’m really hoping everything turns out okay.

Thanks Jen. He looks terrible and is hurting but will heal just fine. The surgeon put him in this really cool cast that he can remove for showering. Of course being a hubby, aka big baby ;), he needs me to do all his dressings and the cast for him. He’s so funny because he knows how he is. Every time I look at him I wince. He’s a walking bruise and abrasion. The colors are vivid.

Yes, I was sick when this happened. They put us in the pediatric ER where all these little ones are being sick all over. It was difficult to contain myself. And hubs was so confused he asked me at least 8 times if there was something wrong with my stomach.

Thank you again for your concern.

See you over at Bitten :).

    Have a great day!

Viki, thanks for the update but OUCH on your poor hubby. And I hope you’ve truly recovered. I’m concerned that in your worry for him, you may not really feel it if you’re still under the weather.

But i get it — your hubby needs you :-) It’s more than being a baby, when they get taken down like that, we become an emotional support for them.
