Weekend Roundup

My weekend was all about work. I’m back to it and trying hard to write this book. It’s taken a while to get into the rhythm of writing, but yesterday I looked up and it was three pm, and I was like…what??? Didn’t we just eat lunch?

For some reason I’ve been burning out at writing right about three pm. I mentioned this to Wizard who laughed in my face. “Do you think it has anything to do with you getting up before six and starting to write?”

“Uh…maybe?”

“Or that you’re worrying yourself sick about the book?”

“I haven’t said that.”

He laughed again. “No, but you almost poured coffee on your pancakes.”

I frowned at him. But damn it, it’s true. We were at iHop (don’t judge, people, Wizard loves that place) for breakfast one morning. For those of you who don’t go to iHop, if you order coffee, they have carafe at your table so you can refill your own cup. So the waitress brings our breakfast, I’d ordered blueberry pancakes. I **may**  have been obsessing thinking about my book when I picked up the carafe and tilted it part way over my pancakes.

Wizard practically yelled, “What are you doing?”

“Pouring syrup,” I said, wondering why he cared that I was using syrup.

“That’s coffee.”

So I looked at my hand and sure enough…I had the coffee carafe ready to pour. “Umm, I missed my cup?” I mean come on, who admits to being that much of an idiot?

He smirked at me. “I can’t take you anywhere.”

Ha! I have an answer for this. “I’m not the one that went to the donut shop with my shirt inside out.” Okay yeah, it was waayyy back when the kids were little and Wizard ran down to get donuts for the kids. But he did that! He came home mortified too and confessed that his shirt was inside out. And I have NOT let him forget it.

Besides, maybe I wanted coffee on my pancakes. Okay I’m lying, I was totally distracted, and frankly it’s going to be like this for the next six weeks at least.  I can’t quite figure out how to pull this book off, but I’m hooked and must find a way to give these two the story they deserve.

So how was your weekend?

Still enduring the crud. I took Saturday in bed. Yesterday was research for another project and then two chapters of edits. I have about 90 pages left but now I’m getting into some iffy territory that will take brain cells. :( It’s due back Wednesday. *flail*

Now I want coffee-flavored pancakes. Or maybe mocha pancakes. With bacon. Lots of bacon.

Yes, I am warped. Why to you ask? And it’s Monday. Need I say more?

    Meh, sick…
Not bad, mostly sore throat, which is worse at night due to lack of swallowing and dry air :( During the day I don’t feel too bad, just weak and tired. So long as I don’t get pneumonia, like I did our first winter here, I’m fine. (Levaquin kicked my butt!!!)
I’m getting ready to get back into TP – I put it on the back burner this last year so I could write and work on the Halloween anthology and then started a story for a Christmas anthology, which never got off the ground, but I’m ready to put this story first and make MAD attempts to finish it. (Don’t laugh)

Silver, ugh on the crud! I was hoping you’d recovered. It must be really bad, and edits on top of it makes it worse. Hopefully you can finish and get them back sometimes Wednesday.

I’d try coffee/mocha flavored pancakes but not coffee ON my pancakes :-)

    Get well!!

Niki, you’re sick too? I’m seeing a lot of it between here and my FB. I really hope you get better soon with no pneumonia.

I’d never laugh, except in sympathy, trust me. I’m writing in MAD attempts too, but you know what? While some days are lousy with dark swampy words that feel like quick sand and depress me, other days don’t suck at all and a ray of light shines in :-) Keep at it!

You two are so funny. I can see you almost pouring coffee on your breakfast. It’s really easy to do strange things when we’re obsessed about something. I’ve done some bizarre things when my mind is elsewhere ;).

I love how you still hold the shirt over Wizard. He’s a good guy just running out to get donuts for the boys when they were little. An inside out t-shirt can happen to anyone (me included  ).

Sorry to hear that you guys all have the crud. I’ve been really lucky so far this year.

I know it just ended but I can’t think of anything I did this weekend. Just normal stuff, nothing exciting ;).

    Have a great afternoon :).

Viki, the shirt thing with Wizard was funny because he just doesn’t do that stupid stuff as often as I do.

I’ve been lucky too on avoiding the crud. Hope our luck holds and everyone else gets well quickly.

Hope your weekend was at least relaxing and your week is off to a good start.
