Weekend Roundup

It’s a brand new month! I’m so over July–the month was on crack or something. A few incredible highs and too many wicked lows. I’d kick it in the butt on the way out the door, but I’d probably break my toe.

Oh wait, I already did that, LOL! FYI, the toe is healing fine. Did I mention that Wizard has a herniated disc in his back? We got home from San Diego on Sunday, and Monday morning Wizard woke up in serious pain.

Um…possibly from dragging my suitcase up the stairs, but let’s not get crazy and blame me. It’s much more fun to blame July. His back problems led to a round of doctor visits, x-rays, MRIs and now we’re waiting for referrals for more specialists.

Did I mention I’m over July?

But now it’s August! I’m hoping we all have a great month.

So this weekend. On Saturday, Middle Son and his girlfriend came out to celebrate my birthday (my actual birthday is tomorrow). There were tough moments, of course as Bailey was Middle Son’s dog, and for the last three years, Middle son’s girlfriend has been Bailey’s mom (seriously, she took amazing and loving care of him when he needed it most). But to my surprise, they wanted to come anyway. And it turned out to be a good day, quiet with just the four of us, and I think we all needed that. We talked, swam and BBQed. They brought four flavors of mini cakes from a special bakery by their house: Chocolate, Lemon, Lemon Raspberry and Red Velvet. We split them up so we all got a slice of each.

Wizard’s taking me out tomorrow night, I’m seeing Biker Witch on Wednesday, and CPA Boy is coming out next weekend–because apparently we’re going to drag my birthday out over a week, LOL! If it were up to me, I’d have cancelled my birthday this year, but no one listens to me and I love them all for it.

Sunday I wrote. Man this book is killer hard to revise. I can’t tell if I’m totally screwing it up, or maybe, just maybe making it better. But I’m in it to win it now :-) This is the time to have blind faith, keep working and believe.

How was your weekend?

Oh noes, poor Wizard! Yes, July was not a good month for you guys. If you can’t kick it to the curb, knock it down and kick sand in its face. Here’s to a better August for you guys.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Yay for spreading it out over the whole week. You deserve a birthday week to kick this month off right. I believe in you and this story, and I haven’t even read it. Keep the faith. You can do this.

I’m just a hair under 30K with this WIP. I got my edits back for Genie#3 yesterday. So, I went fishing Saturday because I have both of those to work on and won’t have time to fish for a while. I caught a couple nice panfish, but hot weather makes the bigger fish move farther out into colder water, so it’s not the best time for really catching a stringer full. Maybe the fishing will be better once I can fish again. =o)

Ouch! Back problems are the worst! Sympathies to Wiz and here’s hoping for a fast resolution.

FYI? You deserve to have a week-long celebration because you are made of that much awesome!!!!

Yes, July is fired. Except for the week of RWA. That was pretty noteworthy.

I WILL finish the WIP today. Or else. More coffee. Less internet. To work! ;)

B.E., thanks on Wizard. It’s really sucks for him, but he’s staying active despite it.

And thank you on my BD.

It’s good that you got out to fish, even if the fish have fled the heat (don’t blame them!). Now you can tackle both your edits and your book. I know what it’s like when you have two bit projects hanging over you.

Let’s all make August a great month :-)

Silver, you had a great conference and it was awesome to see you! I still so proud of you for the well deserved service award.

I’m with you, poor Wizard. It hasn’t been his month either. Losing Bailey was incredibly hard on him too. He’s never loved a dog like that. But just to keep from being a downer, we are all enjoying our memories and very thankful to have had him.

Go and finish!! I’m rooting for you! I just finished all my admin work that couldn’t waiting and diving back into my book too :-)

Oh poor Wizard. Back pain makes it hard to do so much. I pray that his recovery is swift.

Happy Birthday tomorrow :)! A week long celebration sounds right to me. In fact, maybe you should celebrate the entire month ;). Do you know where Wizard is taking you for dinner or is it a surprise? You have a wonderful time.

Those cakes are perfect! I love how they are just the right size to get a nice sample of all four. You have great kids ;). Getting together probably helps with the grief over Bailey. You all loved him dearly.

We went to pick up my driving glasses and go to order hubs glasses only to have him tell me he forgot the script. Mind you we live 35 minutes away from major shopping. Yes, he did get the look and the woman helping him nearly died with laughter seeing my expression. Needless to say he will be going back Wednesday.

Have a nice evening and really great birthday!

Viki, we live a distance away from major shopping too, so I totally get it. And LOL on the saleswoman recognizing “the look.” I’m sorry you have to make a return trip.

    Getting together did help.

Thanks on my birthday. I believe we’re going for lobster, I don’t think Wizard has any surprises in mind. I’m good with lowkey right now :-)

Hope you have a good evening!
