Weekend Roundup

Wizard defeated the gopher, but we’re not really thrilled since he resorted to a trap that didn’t end well for the gopher :-( Now we are waiting to see if there are any more rodents hiding in the hill.

My weekend was good. I worked on editing, cleaning, and Wizard and I went to dinner and hung out. Oh and I made No Bake Chocolate Cake Batter Truffles. Wizard loves them! I think they’d have an even nicer texture if the butter and sugar were cooked first to dissolve the sugar crystals, but I’d have to try it that way to see if it actually works. And yes, I realize cooking the butter and sugar would go against the whole “no bake” part of the title for the truffles.

Dang I’m tired. Wizard’s back issues are limiting him and that’s frustrating him (huge understatement), plus dealing with a medical system that is overloaded, which leaves him waiting well over a month to see a surgeon to determine if he needs surgery. In the meantime, I’m trying to stay one step ahead of Wizard to do things he shouldn’t, which frustrates him even more. I finally admitted I just can’t keep up and we need to hire someone to help with the house temporarily.

But will I do it? Probably not. I just need to wash my superwoman cape, drink more coffee and wine and get it done :-) Because apparently I’m a control freak, LOL! FYI–so is Wizard, which is why he’s STILL mowing the yard when he shouldn’t be and he refuses to let me do it.

Oh on a totally different subject. I saw my RA doctor last week for routine boring stuff. I had to tell him that I had broken my toe in July. Of course he asked me how I did it. By the end of describing how I accidentally knocked a huge bread knife off a cutting board and the handle hitting my toe, my doctor was struggling not to laugh. I said, “This stuff can’t just happen to me.”

He assured me it can happen to anyone. “But it usually happens to you.”

I can even deny the truth in that statement. Especially when I’m distracted and thinking about everything except what I’m doing at that very second. But the good news is my doctor examined the toe and said it looks like it healed fine. By the way, he’s a great doctor who has helped me tremendously and laughing at me doesn’t offend me at all.

How was your weekend?

I would guess you probably have more than one gopher. But even if you don’t, don’t feel too bad about the gopher. He could’ve done it the easy way, but he didn’t. He chose the hard way. He backed Wizard into a corner and when you mess with the bull, you get the horns. ;o)

Yay for a good weekend and truffles! I made a box-mix yellow cake yesterday. Today, I make my homemade super fudgy chocolate frosting. (Cuz I was too lazy to do it last night.) Boo for Wizard’s back problems. LOL about your doc. It’s awesome that you have a good doctor with a sense of humor.

My weekend… I went fishing. Watched some football, but the players’ behavior lately is ruining football for me. I read some. Walked some. Didn’t do any writing, which is on me. Here’s to a more productive week. :fingers crossed:

B.E. is right about the gopher. That’s on the critter. So sorry about the health issues. We finally took matters into our own hands. Lawyer Guy’s brother gives him “lawn service” for Christmas. That means the lawn is mowed during the spring/summer/early fall and the leaves get bagged in the fall and spring. It’s worth it for all of us!

I killed the vacuum cleaner and had to buy a new one. Stormageddon was coming for Saturday evening and the carpets were in huge need of cleaning. LG was up north helping Only with a project up there. I spent the rest of the weekend working. I’m down to the last 35 pages and then REDEEMED BY THE COWGIRL zooms back to NY for finalization.

Speaking of, time to get busy!

B.E., thanks on the gopher. I don’t like doing it that way, but the side hill leads up to the house above and it’s important to keep the hill-structure sound. Time will tell if we have more.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, we all need a break. You’ll get back to writing this week.

    Hope you enjoy the cake!

Silver, that’s an excellent gift from LG’s brother! Hmm, maybe if the kids need something to get Wizard, I can suggest that. Not sure how it’ll go over with Wizard though.

For me and the house, it’s an old guilt thing. I’m pretty close to being over it :-)

Ugh on vacuums! Hope you found one you like.

YAY on almost being done on REDEEMED BY THE COWGIRL. And congrats on the release of CONVENIENT COWGIRL BRIDE!!

Oh I’m sorry about the gopher. Did you use a live spring trap? If you did I wonder what happened. Poor guy. As much as they cause problems I still feel bad for them. I hope there are not more of them. If it was a male it’s likely there are not more but if it was female Wizard might be trapping more of them. I hope your hillside hasn’t been compromised.

You should be tired. You are being a wonderful partner staying a few steps ahead of Wizard but you have your health to look after too.

Your doctor certainly knows you ;).

The truffles looked really good. Wizard’s stamp of approval is all we need ;).

Hubs is still fighting off his illness but he is improved greatly.

    Have a wonderful afternoon!

Viki, yes the spring trap. It was quick and bloodless, but still doesn’t make me happy. I would rather have convinced him to move on. He was big, we’re guess he was a male.

I don’t mind doing stuff for Wizard, and he’s picking up more of the slack on things he can do like running errands so it balances out. I’m just working a lot of hours and something has to give somewhere. Plus seeing him (or anyone) in pain is never fun.

Your poor husband has really been sick. I’m glad to hear he’s improving. And I hope you stay well!
