Weekend Roundup

I have a hair under a month to get this book into my editor. I’m barely sleeping because my brain won’t stop churning out ideas…in a random order which is pretty danged confusing. I’m there with my catcher’s mitt, trying to capture the ideas and sorting them into the Yes!, Maybe and Are You Freaking Kidding Me piles. Once I was up and sucking down caffeine, I wrote scene after scene trying to sort it out. Half the scenes ended up in my cut file, and the other half is going through tryout and revisions as I try to figure out the right position in the story.

I’m working back and forth on scenes and honestly am not sure how far along I am at this point. All I care about is Liza and Justice’s story.

Also, I’m pretty sure the trolls are out to get me. What trolls you ask? Well, anyone remember these?

My brother used to have these trolls lined up on the headboard of his bed. Last night, when I finally fell asleep, I had a nightmare those tiny monsters were popping up all over my house screaming DEADLINE and laughing. In my terror, I was forced to summon a dragon like this:
He swooped in and let out a stream of fire, turning those trolls into ash.

Success!

Until my house caught on fire…then I had to rescue my computer and ride off on my dragon…laughing wildly. Also I had really long and pretty hair in my dream so that part was NOT a nightmare.

What? Like no one else has had that dream? Really? Hmm, maybe it was the pizza we had for dinner?

Anyway, that was my weekend.

Today I’m going to the dentist which makes me snarl and roar like a bad-tempered dragon because I can’t afford the time. Then I’m planning to have coffee with Biker Witch, and for her, I’ll make the time with only minimal growling and grumbling :-)

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Umm, yeah, I didn’t have that dream. Sounds fun and yet horrible. Yeah, the brain can do amazing and amazingly weird things. Mine’s been pretty quiet on the dream side. I think it’s been beaten into submission by the editing push. And it’s trying to edit everything I see, read, or hear. Which makes life kinda interesting.

Good luck at the dentist. Have fun with Biker Witch. And don’t worry – you got this. :hugs:

I cranked and spanked on the editing. 187 pages down, 52 to go. It’s making me a little nuts (more nuts than usual?) but I’m getting it done. I should have this back to the editor like Thursday so I can jump into first round edits on the other book. Went fishing as a reward. Today = more edits and some grocery shopping.

    Troll dolls and dragons….Uhm…. *looks shifty-eyed* Yeah…about that…DUDE!

I won’t mention deadlines if you don’t. *flail* One down, one to go.

I didn’t have much weekend. Saturday was mostly spent on Stormageddon’s b-day party, and once we got home, I literally fell into bed about 6 pm and didn’t roll over until morning. I did get my typeset edits back to Mr. Ed Sunday night. Now I’m trying to catch up before I dive in and write 20K words in the next 10 days. Whoppee.

Thank the gods for Scrivener. When Iffy goes haywire with the ideas, I slot them in and can switch them around using the bulletin board. Yay!

Okay. I have a newsletter to deal with. Later taters. :D

Nope, never had that dream, Thank God ;). I do have trolls though. They are little monster earrings with multi-color hair. They’re too heavy for me to wear so they hang out on my dresser.

Hubs had the dentist today too. I hope your appointment went well.

The weekend was very chilly here. After those strange 70’s normal felt cold.

The birthday dinner was very nice on Sat. All had a nice time and we were home by 7:30. I liked that.

Took the cat to the vet this morning for his check up and he lost a pound, which is good. He really likes to eat. He’s very healthy. Told the vet about Friday night when we heard all kinds of noise from the kitchen while we were eating dinner. Soon after, Spunk was rubbing up all over me. I didn’t think anything of it until I went into the kitchen to clean up and found the jalapeno that had been on the counter on the floor and bit in half. That poor cat must have had one hot mouth. Did he learn? No. I found the other pepper on the floor in the family room Sat. morning but it hadn’t been bitten.

I hope you have a great afternoon!

B.E., Dentist was fine, seeing Biker Witch was great and worth the time away from work :-)

I do the same thing when I’m editing! I correct reporters on TV’s sentences while cooking dinner. We just can’t turn it off. But you’re almost there!

Silver, this is what happens to my brain on deadline :-)

Oops, I shouldn’t have said the “d” word! I know we’re both multitasking projects.

Stormagedden wore you out! And then edits and now 20k in 10 days…wow! Go, go, go!

I have Scrivner but haven’t yet learned to use it. I really should!

Viki, your troll earrings sound cool! And you kitty…LOLOL!! That story cracks me up. He’s a pretty tough guy. Glad his checkup went well. Love the jalapeno story though!

Glad the birthday dinner was a success and an early evening too :-)

Hope Hubs dentist appt when well. Mine was fine, a gazillion x-rays and endless questions as if I was having major surgery not a routine cleaning. Oh the suggestion that I try to stress less and not grind my jaw…bahahaha! I’ll get right on that. Sigh. But no problems and I’m done for six more months.

    Have a good night!

Jen, I highly recommend taking Gwen Hernandez’s classes on Scrivener and her SCRIVENER FOR DUMMIES (written at the request of the Literature & Latte folks) is a great reference. I don’t think I could write without Scrivener and wonder how I managed before I got it. Email me if you want info on the class I took.
