Friday Five

Let’s share 5 random things about our week!

  1. Insomnia is dogging me this week, and I just want to say, Thank God for my Kindle. I read or watch You Tube videos. If I’m not watching puppy videos, then I love Trevor Noah and John Oliver :-)  (This isn’t political, they just amuse me at 2 a.m.)
  2. I love our pool, but the salt system is giving Wizard fits right now. And it’s not cheap. However, Wizard is fantastic at troubleshooting this, so he’ll get it fixed. This stuff really falls under normal maintenance for a pool, but it’s still annoying and I’m very glad I don’t have to deal with it.
  3. My son called yesterday to tell me all about his trip to Tahiti.  For awhile as he talked, I wished I was in Tahiti with a Mai Tai. I don’t think I’ve had a Mai Tai in decades but it sounds tropical. However once my son told me how long it took to travel to Tahiti, and how tired they were once they arrived, I remembered why I don’t travel to exotic places — I’m too lazy. I’ll just have a frozen margarita in my backyard :-)
  4. I bet Wizard a lunch and he lost! But this is bad news for me. My GP’s office screwed up, not getting the right referral so I can see an orthopedic for my shoulder. This is insane people. Seriously. I had two phone calls with them today trying to make them understand they referred me to my regular rhematologist not an orthopedic. They swore they’d check into it and call back. I told Wizard, “I bet you a lunch tomorrow they don’t call.”  Of course they didn’t call back as promised, so Wizard has to eat lunch at home tomorrow. Good thing I’m just in pain rather than seriously sick. And really, I’m okay, but there are people whose lives depend on better care than this. I worry about them.
  5. In good news! Both me and my team (my assistant, Anna and my formatter, Amy) have been working our butts off, and we have SAVAGED VOWS up for pre-order! Seeing both these books up for pre-order represents almost a year of work for me, and is tangible proof that I’m accomplishing what I set out to do! For so long, I wasn’t sure if we’d pull this off. In addition to Anna and Amy, also want to thanks my cover artist, Jaycee DeLorenzo, my editor Sasha Knight and my copy editor Kimberly Cannon. I’m very fortunate to work with an extraordinary team. Now I just have to get Savaged Devotion written in record time with a crappy shoulder. I love a challenge, LOL!

Okay that’s my Friday Five. Time to share yours! I really do enjoy reading them :-) Have a great weekend everyone!

Ugh, insomnia. I’ve been working on ways to kick its ass – starting with moving the clocks in the bedroom so I can’t see them from the bed. And I mentally chant ‘Bedtime is for sleeping, not for thinking’ while I’m trying to fall asleep. So far, sleeping has been better. Not awesome, but better. I’m so sorry the doctors are making all this worse for you. Yay for pre-orders!

    1) See above.
    2) I finally caught enough keeper fish to make it worthwhile to bring home. Dinner last night and one more dinner-worth in the freezer. Bluegills, but still pretty yummy.
    3) The deer are finally showing up looking not pregnant. Haven’t seen any fawns yet, but they hide them for a while after they’re born. Soon, though.
    4) I was out fishing the other day when a guy I didn’t know walked up and started talking to me. (This happens often. I must look like someone to talk to.) Turns out he, too, was from Michigan. Small world.
    5) The new season of Alone has started. They drop people on Vancouver Island with limited supplies and cameras, and whoever stays the longest wins $500K. Hubs and I joke about doing it ourselves. Not that we ever would, but it’s fun to think about.

B.E. so sorry your enduring insomnia too.

I’ll take your word on the bluegill :-) I’ve tried fish and just can’t… But congrats on catching dinner :-) :-)

Hope you see the fawns soon, and get pictures to post.

Random conversations like that are pretty cool. It’s a small world sometimes.

I’d watch the show if you and your hubby were on it! I think you should and win the 500K!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Excited about the pre-orders, etc.! And ugh on the MD screw-up. Sounds a lot like dealing with the VA and that’s just wrong! :-? If I had a pool, I’d be doing nothing BUT margaritas out there  And I think insomnia is ingrained in the DNA of writers. Okay…my five.

    1. Finished up (after 15 attempts) the synopsis revision on RDR#8. Once that was done, the first 3 chapters rewrote themselves. It’s back in Mr. HQ’s hands.

    2. Our weather has been oddly mild. Was outside at mid-morning and the south breeze still had a touch of cool in it. It can stay this way!

    3. I have a minimum of two books, a novella, and a proposal to write between now and Halloween. Fun times.

    4. LG is losing weight and I’m finding it. :P

    5. I’m re-listening to Nalini Singh’s Psi-Changeling series in preparation for the new book coming next week. I’ve been checking them out of the library but I think a couple of other people are doing the same because there’s been a couple of times when I went to check out a copy and there was a waiting list. I threw the budget to the wind and ended up buying the rest of the books I didn’t already have. Now there are only 3 (early-on in the series) that I don’t have. Hopefully, they go on sale someday.

Have a great weekend, everyone! And Jen, I really hope your MD’s office gets unscrewed. I worry about you hurting!

    1. Insomnia stinks. I like Fallon ;).
    2. You have a salt water pool? Does that mean you don’t need chemicals to treat it?
    3. I’m with you on long distance travel. Leave me at home with nice drinks and a book. Let the young ones spend time on planes ;).
    4. Sorry you won the bet. How I have really come to detest the healthcare system and the incompetent people working for it. I hope things have been worked out.
    5. Love how the Savaged series is coming together. Those covers are lovely.

    My five –
    1. Had my teeth cleaned today. I love going to the dentist. My teeth are so clean they’re done in 15 to 20 minutes. Been this way since I was a teen. They love me.
    2. Trying to crochet the baby blanket but the RA is making it slow going.
    3. My earring sliced open the top of my ear and I didn’t know until a guy in the store told me my hair was bloody. Seems the goggles I wore at the dentist pulled my earring up and SLICED.
    4. It’s going to get hot here so I getting the air ready to run :).
    5. Broke the ellipse Sunday for the final time. A new one arrived yesterday. It’s a totally different feel from all my other machines. It’s a Life fitness machine so it better hold up.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

    Silver, thanks.

Awesome on getting the synopsis revision and three chapters on RDR#8 off to editor. I wish some of my chapters would write themselves.

    That’s a lot of proposals!

Hope you keep your mild whether for a while longer.

Weight :-( I don’t want to talk about it. (hope LG”s weight loss is intentional and he’s feeling okay).

I saw Nalini has the new book coming out, and audio books are a hit to the budget but I love them!

Thanks, the pain’s not that bad unless I move wrong. Hope you have a great weekend!

Viki, Fallon is funny too :-)

A salt water pool uses a system to convert the salt to chlorine. So we don’t add chlorine, but Wizard does put in acid and test the water to keep it balanced. We really love it the water, if feels a bit softer and there’s not that strong chlorine smell. But the system is computerized and can be a pain sometimes.

You’ve always said you liked going to the dentist :-) I get the same comments about how clean my teeth are, and then I’m weirded out wondering about how many people they see with gross teeth. Ewww!

I don’t know how you crochet with RA. I’m impressed! I know it’s slow going but the blanket will be special to the baby :-)

You didn’t feel the cut at all? Wow, that must have been pretty surprising when the man told you about the blood in your hair!

    The heat is coming :-(

I hope your new ellipses holds up for you,and that you adjust to it quickly.

    Have a great weekend!
