Happy Friday Five

Let’s do our random Friday Five

  1. 3 more days until Savaged Dreams is released! That’s the good news.
  2. The bad news is we had a senseless murder in a convenience store not far from us. It’s so heartbreaking and enraging.  All of us are left wondering WHY, DEAR GOD, WHY??  But there is no answer, and I just have to remember that there are more good people than bad.
  3. We’re going to a niece’s high school graduation party this weekend. I’m looking forward to that.
  4. I’m making Twix Cookies to take to the a party because Wizard asked me to :-)
  5. My shoulder/arm thing is the same, and I still don’t have the referral to an orthopedic. But I’ll see my RA doc next week, and he will try to help if he can so I’m hopeful.

So that’s my Friday Five, what are yours? I hope you all have a great weekend!

Argh. Your doctors are pissing me off. I mean, they already do in general, but argh. Yay for Savaged Dreams! And for graduation celebrations! And yummy cookies! As for the shooting, no where seems to be immune from this crap anymore. Not even here in the back of beyond. Stay safe over there.

    1) We have rumblies this morning. Thankfully, these storms don’t seem to have swirly-whirly winds with them.
    2) Yes, I do seem to have degenerated into giving things odd names. Normal names like thunder storms and tornadoes are boring.
    3) I’m still on the computer because I bought a nifty battery backup that protects me from surges and power outages. Best investment ever.
    4) My genie series is going to be on sale this weekend. The first book is free and the other two are 99c. Let’s see if that jumpstarts anything.
    5) Wow. The sun’s just starting to come up and the sky looks like it’s on fire. Red sky at morning, sailor take warning – and all that. So much for going to the lake this morning. Oh well.

    What B.E. said…

    My five:
    1. Summer weather finally hit. Thank goodness for AC, even though we’re on a “metered” system to conserve energy. It gets hot, even with the fans on but that lower electric bill makes me happy.

    2. Did I mention that LG named his new truck “Silver.” (As in Hi-Ho-Lone-Ranger). FUI, the official name of the truck’s color is “Silver Ingot.” So…

    3. I’m on the last of the previous books of Nalini Singhs Psy-Changeling series. I can’t decide whether I want to read or listen to the newest book. Maybe both–read when I can, listen when I’m doing other stuff like errands. Or not…

    4. This has been one of those weeks when there’s not enough coffee in the world.

    5. Live PD is on tonight. LG and I have a drinking game. ;)

The shoulder just plain stinks :(. Wish I had an answer for both of us.
    Yum on the cookies.
You must be super excited about Savaged Dreams, I am ;).
Have a great time at the grad party.
Wish this world would come together. All the killing is insane.

    1. Youngest is trying to surprise hubs with a Father’s Day party here at the house but hubs keeps inviting people over and they are having a terrible time coming up with excuses for being busy on Sunday ;).
    2. Because it’s a surprise party, we’re still taking hubs out for dinner Sat at a really nice place on the river.
    3. Girlfriend had nasty toe surgery and hasn’t been able to meet me for coffee. The doc gave her the okay to go out as long as she puts no pressure whatsoever on the foot so we’re having coffee tomorrow morning :)!
    4. All the books requested from the library have all come in at once and there is no way I can read them all in the time I’m allowed ;). When it rains it pours.
    5. Can’t believe that Amazon is buying Whole Foods, baffled.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

B.E, Thanks, I’m not too happy with my doctor either.

    1) Hope the rumbles stayed mild and your weather clears for the weekend.
    2) I like your names. Whirly-swirly tells me all I need to know.
    3) Cool on the backup battery!
    4) Crossing my fingers you get a big jump for your free and 99cents sales!
    5) Bummer on the not going to the lake this morning, hope you had a good day anyway!

    Silver,
    1) We’re running our air too.
    2) Lot of Silvers at your house!
    3) Let me know what you think of Nalini’s book.
    4) Right there with you on the coffee. Stuffs happening here too, and coffee just ain’t cutting it.
    5) Cheers to the drinking game!

Viki, thank you on SD! I hope you like it. And yeah, I wish both of us could get help on the shoulder. But I think yours is worse.
    1) That’s awesome of your son! But LOL on Hubs, hope it all works out!
    2) And dinner too! Lucky man.
    3) Wow that toe surgery sounds harsh. Hope coffee works out, it’ll be good for her if she can manage it.
    4) Of course all the books came in at once. Choosing is alway hard.
    5) I saw that this morning about Amazon buy Whole Foods. I’m not clear on their strategy either.

Don’t know if you have investigated this at all or not but a friend of mine who has RA (assuming it is rheumatoid arthritis) has found success in controlling the symptoms of RA through eating a vegan gluten free diet. It is a big commitment but she tried it 4 years ago when she was in a major flare up. She dedicated 6 weeks to trying it out. After the 6 weeks she experienced an improvement in how she felt so she never looked back. While it doesn’t cure the RA over the course of the first year she successfully was taken off all of her pain meds and her RA medications (only once discussing with her RA doctor of course). While it could be she just coincidentally went into remission – the doctor did tell her that while she couldn’t attribute the remission to the diet it certainly didn’t hurt! While she still has to regularly see her RA doctor she has found such an improvement in her quality of life that she has never looked back on her diet choices. She went from barely being able to walk some days to be able to downhill ski every weekend, ride a bike and just in general be active again. it’s not for everyone as it is a big lifestyle commitment but wanted to share in case it is something you wanted to explore. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes I may have just brushed it off but I can truly say it works for her. Take care!
