Great weekend! Well except that I somehow hurt my hip–maybe cleaning bathrooms? It doesn’t matter–Saturday we were celebrating Middle Son’s birthday and nothing was going to stop me We all have busy lives and getting together is a joy we all value too much for little things to get in the way. We hit the wineries up in the hills and had lunch on the patio of the first one. It was gorgeous, overlooking the grapevines. But the best part was a French bulldog named Penny. She was a friendly sweetheart who loved playing ball.
At the second winery, we did a small tasting, then most of us headed outside on another patio while Middle Son and his girlfriend stayed inside to buy some wines. I mentioned to CPA boy I wanted chocolate. He went in and bought my favorite and his wife’s favorite. I love that! So we all shared the two chocolate bars, and left one piece for Middle Son and his girlfriend. I’m not proud of that, but people, it was chocolate And of course, we gave that last piece to Middles Son’s girlfriend.
So…to sum up; it was Middle Son’s birthday and he didn’t get any chocolate. Hmm…we might suck just a little bit, LOL! But he had his favorite cake at home that I’d made for him. Besides, he didn’t care. If he did, I’d have bought him chocolate.
Of course he might have still been a bit shocked that CPA Boy saw him coming out of the winery, raced across the patio and lifted him up in hug, shouting out, “Happy birthday baby bro,” and doing his best to embarrass his brother. These are adults professional men…but you’d never know it when we get together. And also why I love writing about guys–they have such an interesting way of showing affection
Back at home, Middle Son’s girlfriend cooked delicious chicken and beef fajitas, we ate and had a blast. By the time everyone left late that night, I was limping and mildly concerned about my hip. However I slept something like six hours straight (trust me, that’s a lot for me) and got up with barely any pain at all.
Sunday I was back wrestling in the mud with my book.
So that’s my weekend, how was yours?
